Stop me if you've seen this kind of Hallmark series before: an enterprising and attractive single woman (Sarah Drew from Grey's Anatomy) owns a Christmas store on the main street of a picturesque small town. She crosses paths with a handsome, newly single-police officer (Peter Mooney from Burden of Truth). Before you can say, "witness tampering," holiday sparks ensue.Mistletoe Murders, already launched in the US on Hallmark Channel and premiering Nov. 18 om W Network and STACKTV, does stick to a familiar tinsel template. The murder mystery angle, however, raises the stakes. Shot mainly in Pickering, Ont., the six-episode series is part of Hallmark's annual Countdown to Christmas. Every year, the production of dozens of festive flicks is an early Christmas present for many Canadian actors and even more local crew members. They shoot these films -- often in warm spring and summer months -- for November and December viewing. Find out if Drew and Mooney like eggnog, real Christmas trees and which holiday film is must see in their respective homes.

News and Notes About "Branching Out" With "Branching Out" as his 16th directing endeavor, Maclain Nelson is leaving quite the mark on Hallmark as of recently. Among his notable projects are the beloved "Haul Out the Holly" series, "A Heidelberg Holiday," "Hidden Gems," "Presence of Love," and others. Beyond directing, Maclain Nelson's creative endeavors extends to writing contributions on "A Heidelberg Holiday," "A Nashville Legacy," and "# Xmas." Joie Botkin wrote the screenplay for “Branching Out” based on a story by writer Melissa Bustamante. We've said here for a long time that Joie has a great ability to write difficult family stories. Her previous work for Hallmark include “Never Been Chris'd,” “3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost,” “Love's Greek to Me,” “# XMAS” “Our Italian Christmas Memories” and so many more. Melissa Bustamante has just three writing credits. “Branching Out” appears to be her first project for Hallmark. About "Notes of Autumn" This movie was originally called “Fall Swap." Singer-songwriter Debbie Gibson served as an executive producer According to TV Fanatic, this is Debbie Gibson's return to Hallmark. She starred in and produced "Summer of Dreams" in 2016 and in "Wedding of Dreams" in 2018. Ashley Williams stars as Ellie. She has 81 acting credits including “Five More Minutes: Moments Like These,” “Two Tickets to Paradise,” and “Love, Classified” all from 2022. She also starred in 10 episodes of “Amber Brown” on AppleTV which also starred Sarah Drew from last week's “Guiding Emily.” Her instagram is delightful, if you're not following her there. Related: Girls Gone Hallmark review of "Two Tickets to Paradise" Luke Macfarlane co-stars as Leo. Luke took a small departure from the Hallmark Channel, he was last seen in “A Magical Christmas Village” last holiday season. At the time, he told the LA Times that his 17th Hallmark movie would likely be his last, saying that the channel “had been very good” to him but “how many firefighters can I play?” In the meantime, Macfarlane co-starred in a feature film called “Bros,” worked for AppleTV on a comedy called “Platonic” and was even offered a role in mega-hit Barbie but had to decline because of conflicts. Additionally, Macfarlane and his partner welcomed a baby girl named Tess in June of this year. So why is he back at Hallmark? He told The Hollywood Reporter that he “applauds” Hallmark for creating queer content. Perhaps an offer he couldn't reuse? I'm complete unfamiliar with Porte but Hallmark fans are happy he's back. He has 50 acting credits including “Rome in Love” and “A Gift for Christmas” for Hallmark. He's also been on “Days of Our Lives,” “NCIS,” and the Neal Patrick Harris series “Uncoupled.” "When Calls the Heart" stars Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith pop up throughout the movie playing Isabelle and Jack - fictional characters in Leo's novel. The script was written by Rick Garmen who has 27 previous writing credits. His last three movies for Hallmark were “Groundswell,” “Christmas at Castle Hart,” and “You Had me at Aloha.” But, his last two movies were the CCB and Danica McKeller Christmas movies for GAF last year. He's got a Jon Brotherton Christmas movie in the hopper too, according to IMDb.

Andrew Erwin and his brother Jon are the filmmaking team known by most as the Erwin Brothers. The Birmingham, Alabama born brothers grew up around college football and entertainment. Their father, a local news anchor introduced them to the television industry at a young age. As teenagers they began their career in sports television with ESPN as camera operators. After several years working in sports they transitioned into directing music videos and documentaries. They won music video of the year three years consecutively at the GMA Dove Awards working with some of the top artist in Christian, Country, and Rock music. They went on to produced the award winning 9/11 documentary The Cross and the Towers (2006).In 2010 the brothers shifted their focus exclusively to developing feature films. Their first feature narrative, October Baby (2011), was a coming of age drama about a young girl named Hannah (Rachel Hendrix) trying to find her birth mother. After a strong grass roots campaign the micro budget feature debuted theatrically in the top ten eventually landing on the front page of the New York Times.Andrew and Jon's sophomore release Moms' Night Out (2014), starring Sarah Drew, Sean Astin, and Patricia Heaton, was their first venture into comedy. The crowd pleaser had a successful theatrical run with Sony's TriStar and continues to grow its audience on dvd as a cult classic.Next Andrew and Jon tackled the epic true sports story Woodlawn (2015), starring Jon Voight, Sean Astin, Nic Bishop, and newcomer Caleb Castille. It was a deeply personal story for the Erwins. One of the characters in the Alabama story is their father, played in the movie by Astin. The duo continue to live in the Southeast as they write and develop stories of redemption and hope with a strong emphasis on their faith roots. The inspirational true story of Kurt Warner, who overcomes years of challenges and setbacks to become a two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Fame quarterback.
