How do you know if he's actually the right man for you—not just a man you have incredible chemistry with? Most women have been taught how to attract a man, keep his interest, and figure out whether he likes them. But very few of us were ever taught how to evaluate whether we should choose him.In this episode of The Playbook, Amanda Carroll teaches The Choose Well Play: a practical framework for evaluating whether the man you're dating actually has what it takes to build a healthy, committed relationship with you. We're talking about the four things that become more important—not less—with time: character, emotional stability, compatibility, and partnership capacity. You'll learn why chemistry is information, not evidence; why his résumé isn't his character; why dating a man's potential can cost you years; and the one question Amanda wants you to start asking after every date. And if you've quietly stopped dating because you're exhausted by the apps, afraid of choosing wrong again, or starting to believe there simply aren't any good men left, this conversation is especially for you.You don't have to blindly trust your picker. You need a process you can trust while you rebuild trust in yourself. And if you want your love life to look different by the holidays, don't wait until November to start. Starting now gives you the time to meet men, gather evidence, walk away from the wrong ones, and allow the right relationship to develop without rushing it.IN THIS EPISODEYou'll learn:The difference between being chosen and choosing wellWhy chemistry can't tell you whether he'll make a good partnerThe four qualities to evaluate when deciding whether a man is right for youWhy successful men aren't necessarily relationship-ready menHow to stop falling in love with potentialWhy emotional stability matters so much in a long-term partnerHow to tell the difference between attraction and compatibilityWhy you don't have to make a good man into a villain to decide he's not right for youThe simple Choose Well Play you can run on your own dating historyThe one question to ask yourself after your next dateTHIS WEEK'S PLAYLook at your last three serious dating choices.First, write down what initially attracted you to each man. Then write down what eventually made each relationship unworkable.Put the two lists side by side. What were you selecting for compared with what ultimately determined whether the relationship worked? Then, after your next date, replace:“Does he like me?”with:“What did I learn about his character?”Start collecting evidence.

In 1956, Alfred Hitchcock focused his lens on an issue that cuts to the heart of our criminal justice system: the risk of wrongful conviction. The result was The Wrong Man, a bracing drama based on the real-life false arrest of Queens musician Christopher “Manny” Balestrero. Manny's ordeal is part of a larger story of other miscarriages of justice in the first half of the twentieth century.  In Nothing to Fear: Alfred Hitchcock and the Wrong Men (Fayetteville Mafia Press, 2023), attorney Jason Isralowitz tells this story in a revelatory book that situates both the Balestrero case and its cinematic counterpart in their historical context. Drawing from archival records, Isralowitz delivers a gripping account of Manny' s trial and new insights into an errant prosecution. He then examines how Hitchcock' s film bears witness to issues that animate the contemporary innocence movement. Given the hundreds of exonerations of the wrongfully convicted in recent years, this genre-bending work of true crime and film history is a must-read. Ma'am, let's be real for a second — have you ever caught yourself falling for a man you knew wasn't good for you, but something about him just pulled you in anyway? You're not crazy, and it's not because you don't know better — it's because your brain chemistry has been tricking you. In this episode, I'm breaking down the real reason why you keep attracting men who can't meet you at your level. We're talking biochemistry, childhood wiring, and how your hormones make dysfunction feel like connection. You'll learn what actually makes a man bond for life, why broke men drain your feminine energy, and how to reset your attraction to call in elite, emotionally mature love. This conversation is deep, honest, and eye-opening — and by the end, you'll understand that it's not about changing who you are… it's about remembering the power you already hold.

Why They Prosecuted the Wrong Men — Inside the Yogurt Shop Confession Fiasco In this segment, we tear open the wounds of the original investigation. Two men—Robert Springsteen and Michael Scott—were convicted decades ago based almost entirely on confessions that they later recanted. DNA would later exclude them entirely. What pushed investigators to pursue confessions so hard? Tunnel vision, coercive interview tactics, and information “leaks” that allowed suspects to parrot back nonpublic details. Over 50 people confessed at one point or another to this crime—many obviously false. We dig into how interview design (false‑evidence ploys, minimization, sleep deprivation) creates a dangerous illusion of certainty. Legally, these strategies drive miscarriages of justice. Psychologically, they turn confessions into weapons rather than tools of truth. In this part you'll learn: Why confessions, especially in homicide, are dangerously persuasive How contamination and leading questions distort memory What happens when investigators stop listening for disconfirmation After you hear the mistakes, you'll see how fragile the case was from the start—and why we can't treat confession = guilt as an assumption ever again. #FalseConfession #WrongfulConviction #YogurtShopCase #InterrogationTactics #TunnelVision #CriminalJusticeReform #AustinMurders #InvestigativeFailures #CriminalPsychology #InnocenceProject #YogurtShopMurders Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Ladies… let me talk to you real quick. If you've ever found yourself falling too fast, getting attached to a few sweet words and a little chemistry, and then wondering why he disappears, this episode is your wake-up call. I'm breaking down the science behind why you bond before he even begins to care, and why that keeps putting you in relationships where you overgive, overthink, and end up overlooked. You're not crazy. You're not needy. You're wired to fall fast — but you were never taught how to date from your feminine power. In this episode, I'm going to show you the energetic and biochemical traps that most high-achieving, heart-centered women fall into — and how to recalibrate your dating approach so you're no longer drawn to men who drain you. We're talking: Masculine vs. feminized men (and how to spot the difference fast) Why dinner dates might be setting you up to bond too soon What's really happening in your body when you feel “chemistry” And how to start dating in a way that protects your energy and aligns with the love you actually deserve It's time to stop being impressed by potential and start being chosen by alignment.

In this hilarious, unfiltered, and deeply relatable episode of the Sex and Bacon podcast, Sarah sits down with Steph V—author and host of Dating Dicks—to unravel the art of dating emotionally unavailable men, how we ignore red flags on purpose, and why we sometimes mistake chaos for chemistry. Steph shares jaw-dropping stories (one involves being ditched at a party... for her own guest), outrageous moments of heartbreak, and the hard-won wisdom that comes from being a self-proclaimed “serial dictator.” Together, Sarah and Steph explore why women stay, what keeps us hooked, and how to break free from toxic patterns that feel way too familiar. This isn't just girl talk—it's a deep dive into self-worth, healing, and learning to spot the dicks before they ruin your mascara.
