Some of you may have heard a big part of my story on how I started this podcast. During my day job I get to listen to podcasts all day long. The ones I really enjoy are ones that encompass someone's story and their passion(s). Since I am an avid podcast listener I wanted to start sharing podcasts and podcast episodes that I have enjoyed and that I think you will enjoy as well. One podcast that I am currently binging is The Dropout. I had started listening to this pod when it first came out and I recently saw that it covers her trial which already happened. Quick summary Elizabeth Holmes created Theranos, which was supposed to help blood testing be quick, cheaper and less painful. She was at one point deemed the youngest self-made female billionaire, but then she lost it. I enjoy this podcast because of the in depth research and interviews that this podcast walks us through as it unpacks this story. If you are interested in a gripping story of money, romance, tragedy and deception I highly recommend putting this in your podcast queue. Jamie loves to connect with women and encourage them as they journey through life. Today I wanted to share with you episode #377 with Gretchen Saffles who is an author and founder of the online community Well-Watered Women. In this episode, Gretchen talks about society's criteria of a “good Christian woman” and how to combat that with God's word. Gretchen also dives into the true meaning of a well-watered woman, and what it looks like to really be with Jesus. There is a quote that I have had on a sticky note on my laptop for the past several weeks from this episode when Gretchen said, “Contentment is not having more or having less, it is having Christ.” I would encourage you to give this episode a listen, I will link the podcast details in the show notes! On our 40th Episode we have Jenny Thompson, CEO and Founder of SafetyPIN Technologies! Today Jenny will share with us her story on how she went from working for nonprofits to for profits, and then pivot in her life that began her next season of life which led her to create SafetyPIN. Jenny also shares a lot of information in regards to background checks and screenings that I was not familiar with. This helped to deepen my understanding that many of the things I thought were set in place for safety checks are not as thorough as I had believed them to be. You are for sure going to want to lean in to hear Jenny’s story as she highlights her passions of marketing and starting SafetyPIN Technologies. #JennyThompson #SafetyPIN #SafetyPINTechnologies #BackgroundChecks #BRÜUSH #Bruush #AnaLuisa #Jewelry #SavedbytheCity #PodcastRec #NoWrongTurns #ChicagoPodcast #StorytellingPodcast #StoryAndPassion Jenny Thompson -- Safety Pin Website - https://www.getasafetypin.com/ Insta- https://www.instagram.com/safetypintech/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/safetypintech Linkedin - linkedin.com/in/jennythompson-safetypin Twitter - https://twitter.com/JCT_212 FOLLOW NO WRONG TURNS POD Instagram @nowrongturnspod https://www.instagram.com/nowrongturnspod Facebook @nowrongturnspod https://www.facebook.com/NoWrongTurnsPod SPONSOR AD BRÜUSH Brüush is an electric toothbrush that will change the way you think about brushing your teeth. PODCAST RECOMMENDATION This week I want to share with you a podcast called Saved by the City. I found this podcast through following Katelyn Beaty and her book called A Woman’s Place: The surprising truth about why God intends every woman to work. In the podcast Katelyn is joined by her co host Roxy Stone to chat about various topics from fashion to dating to shattering the glass ceilings. Roxy and Katelyn grew up in the white evangelical American heartland. Both were warned moving to a supposed bastion of secular culture would be dangerous to their faith. While navigating a city where people sleep in on Sunday mornings and the chaste motto “true love waits” isn’t a thing, the two have found a renewed, vibrant faith that has been both strengthened and stretched in the metropolis. Listeners welcome to our 30th episode, our first episode of 2021! On the podcast we have Kelsey Kemp. Kelsey is an eighth generation Texan. Growing up Kelsey practiced ballet. She took ballet so seriously that began a program where she trained in the morning and evening and began homeschooling in between times. Around the age of 16 Kelsey began a youtube channel basically a content marketing that her twin still runs today and at the same time Kelsey also began a customizable ballet bag business. During her time attending a ballet boarding school Kelsey got severely hurt and was told by doctors that she could no longer practice ballet. As you would imagine Kelsey was completely devastated that her one passion was now gone. Kelsey yearned to find something that she could be as passionate as she was about ballet. She did all of the career tests and personality tests and pondered what was next. Then through series events, not being content with her job, explaining to close friends her ideas, not wanting to be seen as failing, Kelsey took her next step with her passion of career coaching. #KelseyKemp #CareerCoach #AnswerTheCall #TheCalledCareer #Ballet #TechnologyConsultant #Texas #CareerTests #PersonalityTests #PurposeAndPassion #UncomfortableConversationsWithABlackMan #EmmanuelAcho #CommuterBible #52WeeksofGratitudeandJoy #NoWrongTurns #Podcast #Storytelling #StoryAndPassion #TellYourStory #ShareYourStory Quotes:“Apply yourself with hard work and smart work”“When you are passion about something you have the energy to dedicate the absolute best of yourself to that, whatever it is”“It was not cute in the beginning at all, you have got to start messy.”“Start with your purpose and passion and what is your highest intention for them” Follow Kelsey... Since I am an avid podcast listener I wanted to start sharing podcasts and podcast episodes that I have enjoyed and that I think you will enjoy as well. This week I want to share with you episode #333 from Jamie Ivey’s podcast called The Happy Hour. In this episode Jamie has a psychotherapist, Enneagram teacher, and host of the popular podcast, Typology....have you guessed who it is yet? Ian Morgan Cron, author of the best-selling book, The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery. I have heard several episodes and interviews with Ian Morgan Cron explaining different aspects of the enneagram, this episode is different because Ian highlights several ideas that surround his life’s work. One idea that I enjoyed from the podcast was when he talked about the importance of taking a sacred pause when emotions are high. Using a sacred pause to evaluate what is going on within myself before responding whether that be in person or online. Ian said, “You are the mountain not the weather.” Meaning when it comes to feelings you are the mountain and your feelings are the wind and the weather. He highlighted the idea that feelings don’t need to hold on for a long time, he suggested that we keep it for when we do and let go of it when we need to. Sarah is a retired podcaster, during this COVID season she has become a seamstress creating 70-100 masks and she is passionate about the local church and women’s ministries. Sarah grew up in Michigan. Growing up her family always had two dogs and a cat. She enjoyed trying out all of the sports and the sport that she thought she was the best at was snowboarding. Where she grew up in Michigan there was a small ski hill where she learned to snowboard and where she worked slinging nachos. Sarah says that she loves learning, but not academics. This made for a tricky situation when deciding what she wanted to do for college. She moved to Chicago where she majored in Fashion Business Management. At the end of college Sarah made a life changing decision and recommit to her relationship with Jesus. Sarah worked at the Salvation Army beginning in the World Missions Dept, then for the Adult Rehabilitation Centers/Thrift Stores and lastly in the Women’s Ministry’s Department. In China Karen shared about how all of her passions for talking to people and sports were avenues that allowed her to share her passion of telling people about Jesus. Kaila is our 24th guest on the No Wrong Turns Pod! She is from California and grew up being very close to her family, her cousins and grandparents. Once Kaila gave her life to Christ at age 14 during her freshman year she began spending most all of her free time at church. She loved being involved in youth group and volunteering to help wherever she could at church. Kaila walks us through her college application journey which began with her not wanting to go to college because she did not think there was a major that she felt passionate about. With her mom’s urging she then literally went from Googling Moody to completing her application all within a 6 hour timeframe! Throughout this conversation Kaila shares with us the importance that discipleship and mentorship played in her life. How when she went to college she was working through her parents getting a divorce and how discipleship and mentorship from other women played a crucial part in her walking through and processing this big life change. In Kaila’s story she highlights her passions of discipleship & mentorship, youth ministry and missions. Here are some great quotes from Kaila:“Recognize the ways that God has created you and use that for the Kingdom.”“The Lord can you use, your personality, your gifting. And to not discredit those or not to look down on something that is really a gift. Those things that I thought were bad qualities is what God has used more in my ministry and discipleship.”“The way that Lord created me was a gift in and of itself.” Kaila’s Books Recommendations:Broken Way by Ann VosKamp Boundaries by Henry Cloud Nothing to Prove by Jennie Allan Follow Kaila on:Instagram @kailayim Check out the book club selection I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness by Austin Channing Brown PLEASE do not forget to register to vote & VOTE in the upcoming election:https://vote.dosomething.org/ Music Credits:WholesomeMusic from https://filmmusic.io"Wholesome" by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.com)License: CC BY (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)#KailaYim #NoWrongTurns #Storytelling #StoryAndPassion #TellYourStory #ShareYourStory #Discipleship #Mentorship #YouthMinistry #Missions #bookclub #ImStillHere #AustinChanningBrown #MoodyBibleInstitute #YouthGroup #College #CollegeMajor #ReignMinistries #StudytheBible #MichelleBernard #OliveBranchCoachingandConsulting #OliveBranch

You are for sure going to want to lean in and not miss hearing Eric’s story in pursuing things he is passionate about through his different creative outlets such as praise band and ministry leadership position with young adults. There were so many good quotes and nuggets of wisdom from Eric this episode that I wanted to share with you all!“Looking back on my life now there are not many natural gifts that I have, there is only passion and determination.” “When we get to Heaven, I want God to show what I did with the 10% gift He gave, I hope that I honored that.” “Time is actually your friend if you are willing to ride it out and be faithful and show up a lot of good can come from that.”“Let's pour into your passions and follow those, even if at the end of the day it is not for a paycheck, honor your passions and give them space to grow.” “Who are you waiting to validate your passion?” “God can be glorified in the thing that is not extraordinary.” “What is a small thing that you can do well and what is a small thing that can be useful and seeing where that goes. That is important thing, we should all be idealistic and dream big. If we can act in small ways and if we can be mirco focused then we are just saying that we just want to be extoradary for ourselves and that is not good either.” Follow Eric on:Instagram @bustahimes This week our sponsor is Taylor Rambo’s new book Wreckless Grace: A Journey to Bold Forgiveness.
