Managing to narrowly escape, he witnessed the magnitude of death and destruction up close and was plunged into lengthy depression where he found himself believing life was meaningless. Letting go of the diet mentality is extremely hard for many people. It's often engrained from other challenges, obstacles and ongoing emotional eating cycles, and life struggles. When it comes to eating it's not even a reality about finding a shoe that fits you, it's about creating your own shoe. Dieting is yet another habit loop that can leave us stuck.DIETS make you give up your inner voice.About 1 in 4 American's will set a Diet Resolution and only 9% feel they are successful.Reasons for failuresetting unrealistic goals.participants who failed didn't keep track of their progress.forgot about their resolutions.About one in 10 people who failed said they made too many resolutions. Some of the solutions....Finding Middle GroundSet realistic GOALS -  ie.  In the month of January I will decrease my soda consumption by 50% - drinking one per day at lunch.  Address Barriers -  WORK WITH A HEALTH COACH - Sara - for thisKeep it simple  - Do your food habits benefit you in body and mind?Focus on intention and attention - How do I want to feel at the end of this meal?Crowd out.  80/20 Rule What should I eat? Sara puts her Health Coaching hat on with Wendy as we explore 10 of the most popular "diets" and try to take the confusion out of them, including pros and cons for each.  We also define bio-individuality towards diet.  This means - what's one person's way of eating is another's poison.  What works for you may not work for another.  Unfortunately the diet industry tries to fit us all into a "one size fits all" approach. An estimated 45 million Americans go on a diet each year, and Americans spend $33 billion each year on weight loss products. Yet, nearly two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese. From self-consciousness to physical limitations, many people feel that their size is keeping them from being the person they truly are. Trying to fit into a one size fits all ideal can correlate with an unhelpful body image or relationship with food. One size fits No one.Less than 5% of the population can achieve the media's idea of thinness.  AND our bodies change throughout the years.  Partially in fact there's a genetic code.We support health at every size, size acceptance, and bio-individuality approach. What would you be doing if you weren't thinking about food so much?Do your research and listen to your body (and doctor), what it needs to fuel well.Music by Joe Levi music, find him on Instagram @joelevimusicConnect with Rising StrongHER community:Virtual Course - Overcome Emotional Eating & Negative Body Image coming in January 2022https://risingstrongher.mykajabi.com/nourish-to-flourishJoin our private Rising StrongHER free Facebook community here for more inspiration:https://www.facebook.com/groups/284428745896520Instagram @rising_strongherOur website:  http://www.risingstrongher.comContact with questions or other inquiries: hello@risingstrongher.com

Sara & Wendy sit down and have an honest & fun conversation about the midlife journey of letting our hair grow out to it's natural color full of white, gray, silver!  No woman should feel obligated to conform to anyone's beauty standards but her own, let's remove the stigmas. For women, our hair is a big deal.  Many of us spend years, lots of money, and time covering up what's authentically us to look younger, to live up to society's "beauty standards",  feel better, or whatever the reason may be.  Where ever you are in your hair journey, you'll enjoy the stories knowing you're not alone.  If you're feeling the "call" to come out of "hiding" to step into your wisdom and power, revealing your true hair color and texture, may be a part of the process to finding freedom to be authentically YOU! "There is a freedom, this is who I am, take it or leave it."  WendyDrop us a note us know your thoughts, hello@risingstrongher.comConnect with Rising StrongHER community:In person in Charlotte for an Introduction to Meditation series @ Thrive Center for Wellness Mondays July 19 & 26https://thrivecarolinas.com/events/In person in Charlotte Self Care Summer Reboot, Saturday July 24https://risingstrongher.mykajabi.com/self-care-summer-reboot-mini-retreatJoin our Magical Sedona, AZ retreat in October 2021https://www.risingstrongher.com/magical-sedona-retreatJoin our private Rising StrongHER free Facebook community here for more inspiration:https://www.facebook.com/groups/284428745896520Our website:  http://www.risingstrongher.comContact with questions or other inquiries: hello@risingstrongher.com*Special thank you shout out to Joe Levi for composing our podcast music and editing.  You can find him on Instagram @joelevimusicRise with US!

How much time would we all gain if we got off the hamster wheel of second guessing ourselves again again and again….what would it be like if we knew our unique inner voice of wise intuition? … With our upcoming course “ The Essential Yoga Self Care Blueprint” coming up we'd like to share one of the module topics….. Learning to say heck yes to things that align and a big no to things that don't align with our self care, purpose, truth, etc.  This involves understanding what our intuition sounds and feels like. You may wonder, how do I know what I'm hearing or acting on is my intuition or not?  What if I get it wrong? Is it just my imagination?  That's what we're about to share, some insight on knowing what it sounds like.We help you to identify those voices the Ego, Fear, and Intuitive Voices sound and feel like.Tips to Connect with Intuitive VoiceDo something creative or playful to by-pass our over thinking, judging mind Find simple ways to be present in your bodySpend time in nature and if you are short on time spend a few minutes looking at the sun, the clouds, or the moon. Pause for a few minutes before you get out of bed in the morning, before you engage with your normal routineUpcoming Events:Join our private Rising StrongHER free Facebook community here for more inspiration:https://www.facebook.com/groups/284428745896520The Essential Yoga Self Care Blueprint Course - 30 day virtual reset starts April 19, 2021http://www.risingstrongher.com/enrollOur website:  http://www.risingstrongher.comContact with questions or other inquiries: hello@risingstrongher.com*Special thank you shout out to Joe Levi for composing our podcast music and editing.  You can find him on Instagram @joelevimusicRise with US!

How many times have you said: “I would take better care of myself if I just had more time”? Or “if I had more time I would….cook more, read more, exercise more, sleep more, etc… Sara & Wendy have a conversation about why after 20+ years in the yoga & wellness industry we've heard this from so many people about why they don't place self care at the top of their list.  “I don't have time and I'm too tired.” Which we completely understand at times….. It's like what they say on the airplane… you put the breathing mask on first to take care of yourself first THEN others.Every time you say, “I'm too busy,” “I can't get everything done,” or “I'm overwhelmed,” you're letting time manage you instead of the other way around.   Adults make an average of 35,000 decisions a day so it's no wonder we're tired. This is decision fatigue.  To decrease decision fatigue, Sara shares insights from the book Project 333” The Minimalist Fashion Challenge that proves less really is so much more by Courtney Carver on how to create a decision free wardrobe.  And if you've ever tried on more than one outfit for a meeting or event, changes are your closet is adding to decision fatigue and taking precious time away from self care. How to clean out your closet:Empty all your clothes onto your bed, play some fav musicLove, Maybe, Toss PILEWhen not sure ask yourself will I wear this in the next 3-6 months or never? If no place in Toss to donate (box / bag up immediately and get them out of your room)Create seasonal capsulesSara's 3 top tips to help us slow down and embrace that we do indeed have plenty of time:1. Organize your wardrobe  - put what you're not using away, I used to do this in NH in the basement, give away to homeless2. Pre plan meals - Sundays are my prep days - soups, roasted seasonal veggies, lean meats, , choose to eat similar meals during a week.  Sun Basket sometimes.3.   Social Media boundaries - talk about the algorithm it's meant to be addicting - once you buy something social media is watching and will continue to show you ads.Upcoming Events:Join our private Rising StrongHER free Facebook community here for more inspiration:https://www.facebook.com/groups/284428745896520Next Podcast: February 10th with Tesia Love on Ayurveda for Self CareOur website:  http://www.risingstrongher.comContact with questions or other inquiries: hello@risingstrongher.comPodcast episodes to release on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.*Special thank you shout out to Joe Levi for composing our podcast music and editing.  You can find him on Instagram @joelevimusicRise with US!Episode is LivePublished: Jan. 05, 2021 @ 3PM EditUnpublishAdd a TranscriptGet episode better indexed by search engines.Add Chapter MarkersListeners can tap through & see what's coming up.Create a Visual SoundbiteBest way to share to social media for engagement.Share Ep
