FROM THE VAULT: One line. One press conference. One football meme that refuses to die. It can't go on like this, can it?It can.In this clip, Mick McCarthy revisits the now-legendary moment that gave us one of football's most quoted phrases. What started as an honest, off-the-cuff response during a tough run of results quickly became a viral classic — and a brutally accurate summary of life as a football manager.Mick explains the real meaning behind the words, lifting the lid on the pressure, fatigue, and mental battles that come with managing when results aren't going your way. From dealing with the media to keeping belief inside the dressing room, this is a candid insight into how quickly things can spiral — and how, sometimes, football just keeps finding new ways to surprise you.The lads reflect on why the quote struck such a nerve with fans, managers, and players alike, and why it still perfectly captures the chaos, humour, and harsh reality of the game today.ChumbawambaFor more Peter Crouch: Twitter - https://twitter.com/petercrouch Therapy Crouch - https://www.youtube.com/@thetherapycrouch For more Chris Stark Twitter - https://twitter.com/Chris_StarkInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/chrisstark/For more Steve Sidwell Twitter - https://twitter.com/sjsidwell Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/stevesidwell14 #PeterCrouch #ThatPeterCrouchPodcast Hosted on Acast. 12 Simple Words (12 Simple Words...Foundation) by John W Kennedy https://www.amazon.com/12-Simple-Words-Foundation/dp/B0DG7ZGD3S One of the things that drives John W. Kennedy the craziest and increases his personal cynicism is the fact that we do not communicate anymore. This sounds odd in a world full of communication devices, but 'talking at' is not 'talking with' others. We always look to find someone to blame instead of listening and trying to understand another's POV. Most of the time, blame is never the answer needed to act, but something to deal with after the solution is found. Debate and arguments have value when they do not become personal. He has changed his approach many times in life, when someone convinced him of a better solution. We must stop making broad assertions and assumptions based on factors out of one's own control. We need to decide that groups are made up of individuals that have differing life experiences. We can embrace and learn from many.

Bridging The Gap

Creativity isn't a gift—it's a tool. The difference between average firms and innovative ones often comes down to the questions their teams are trained to ask. Too often, we default to limiting language like “Should we…” or “Can we…”—questions that quietly reinforce boundaries and trigger judgment. But when we reframe the conversation with a simple “How might we…,” the tone shifts, the ideas expand, and suddenly the room starts thinking differently. In this episode of The FutureProof Advisor, I share stories from my own experience running innovation labs, as well as real-world examples like Procter & Gamble's product breakthroughs, to show how subtle language changes can create massive shifts in team dynamics. “How might we…” doesn't just sound more open—it creates psychological safety, inviting people to share bold or imperfect ideas without fear. That kind of space leads to more creative solutions, stronger collaboration, and ultimately, better outcomes for clients and internal processes alike. But curiosity alone isn't enough—you also need structure. We talk about how to lead teams through divergent thinking in the early stages, and then transition to focused decision-making that drives implementation. When teams know when to explore and when to execute, innovation becomes not just possible—but repeatable. This episode is about giving your firm permission to think bigger, while giving your people the framework to make it real.

Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." What a majestic opening to the Word of God! With ten simple words, the Bible shatters every false philosophy! Atheism is silenced--for there is a God. Polytheism is refuted--for there is but one God. Materialism is exposed--for matter is not eternal, but created. Evolution is denied--for creation was by divine fiat, not blind chance. Pantheism is dismissed--for God is distinct from His creation. "In the beginning God…"--this is where all true knowledge must begin. Before time, before space, before anything that is seen--there was God. He is self-existent, eternal, and independent. He needs nothing, but out of His own sovereign pleasure, He spoke the universe into being! Everything that exists--every atom, every planet, every creature--owes its existence to Him. The psalmist declares, "By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth!" (Psalm 33:6) This first verse of Scripture is foundational. If we do not believe that God created the heavens and the earth, then we will not rightly understand the rest of Scripture. Hebrews 11:3 reminds us: "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command." God alone is the Creator, and the Owner, and the Sustainer, and the Ruler--of all things in His creation. This verse also sets the tone for worship. If God is the Creator, then we are His creatures. We are not our own--we belong to Him. We are not the center of the universe--He is. We did not bring ourselves into being--we were made for His glory. "You are worthy our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and

Building a website is big and can be super stressful. Once it's done, the unfortunate thing is that it's not done! As your business grows and evolves, your website should do the same alongside it. Sometimes its quick and simple changes, sometimes its a big overhaul. If this is on your radar then give this episode a listen so you can be more thoughtful about your approach, budgets, and time. What you'll learn: → how your goals play into your website. → the role data plays into your decisions. → looking outside your organization for different perspectives. → ways to organize all your pages. → leading with positivity. → what role AI plays in video. Want to skip ahead? Here are key takeaways: [6:24] Start with your goals and mission of your organization. Your website should reflect those goals. Match that with your website analytics. Are the pages that connect the most with those goals the ones that people are visiting? Ensure that those core pages you need are getting the right activity and attention. [14:06] Get outside perspectives for how people utilize your website. Getting outside of your own internal perspectives is a great way to understand what to update on your website. You might access things a certain way, but that doesn't mean that it's easy for other people to find the information. Interview some people to see if they can access the elements that are critical for conversions. [17:47]Build a spreadsheet that has all the pages of your website listed. Remove anything that's old, isn't relevant, or doesn't get any traffic. This is a great spring cleaning activity to build into your regular website updates. [28:04] Figure out your timeline. It doesn't have to be done all at once. Think about the priorities and phase out the steps to fit into your schedule. Whether you're a teacher, parent, or entrepreneur, you want to be able to persuade your students, children, and customers with your messages. That's a tall task in the modern age, when people are bombarded with 13 hours of media a day. How do you cut through all that noise to make sure you're heard? My guest would say it's all about keeping things simple.Ben Guttmann is a marketing educator and consultant who's helped promote everything from the NFL to New York Times-bestselling authors. He is himself the author of Simply Put: Why Clear Messages Win—and How to Design Them. Today on the show, Ben explains the gap between how people like to receive messages and the self-sabotaging, complication-introducing ways people tend to send them. We then talk about the five factors of effective marketing that anyone can use to close this gap and craft simple, effective, influential messages. We discuss why you should highlight something's benefits rather than its features, the question to ask to figure out what those benefits are, how to replace “and” with “so” to create more focused messages, how the fad of using the F-word in book titles shows the transience of salience, how to make your message minimal by imagining it as a Jenga tower and how minimal isn't the same thing as short, and much more, including Ben's most immediately actionable tip for crafting better, simpler messages.Resources Related to the PodcastAoM Podcast #666: The Power of Brevity in a Noisy WorldAoM Podcast #580: Why People Do (Or Don't) Listen to YouSunday Firesides:  Don't Confuse Niceness With KindnessThing Explainer: Complicated Stuff in Simple Words by Randall MunroeConnect With Ben GuttmannBen's websiteBen on LinkedIn

The defining moment of his career came during his competition against Tiger Woods in the 1996 Amateur Golf Championships. Scott found himself a surprising 5‐up after the first 18, but on the 35th hole Tiger squared the grueling match with an improbable 40‐foot birdie putt. With the result coming down to the last hole, the difference in the outcome actually came earlier, when Scott reminded Woods to move his mark back to its rightful place on the 34th hole. Had Scott not done the morally correct thing, Tiger would have been penalized and, in turn, not gone on to have his legendary career.
