Welcome to the Standing Out Loud Podcast! Hang out with Kevin Andrew of Chicago bands Guardrail & El Famous, listen to some sweet sounds and discussions with neat people in/around the Chicago music scene. "If you're talking to us, you're probably SOL"
Hi! We're Dave & Kevin. This is our new podcast. Before we post our first episode, we figure we'd introduce ourselves. Basically, we're friends from the Chicago music scene. Kevin sings in Guardrail, & Dave sings in Summer Curse. We're very like-minded dudes who are into a lot of the same bands, comedians, movies, shows, & more. So we're gonna talk about all that each episode. Sometimes we'll have a guest, how neat! Episode 1 coming very soon.Party on.

It's been a minute! Michelle Balzer & Kaitlyn Johnston of Out Of Context came by to chat about how they got into booking shows, as well as how things are going due to the pandy. Jake Ciccotelli from Overgrow came along with them and chimed in a bit about his music. This was recorded at the end of August, but it took forevz to edit because the cicadas were wild outside while recording which made editing a bitch, we were hella busy with the record release shortly after, I got a puppy (@gnarlytheween), and I got a new job. Busy-ass few months, hope it sounds listenable!

I’m sick, fuck you. Today on the show I had Scott Kelly of Still World over for Jameson shots. He talks about growing up in Ireland, getting started playing music, our favorite supergroups, and how he looks like a young Sam Carter. I also spin TanZen’s new track at the top of the episode after giving a little Riot Fest recap. I also got word that my dude Chris Johnson passed away today. He was a ray of sunshine that will definitely be missed in our scene. I end the episode with an instrumental demo from his band Parallels and Lies. Rest in peace buddy, much love

I also give an update on what I’ve been up to since the last episode, including Camp Punk In Drublic, some shows I played with my new band Lower Nature, and my new solo acoustic bullshit. Mel Senese is a Chicago singer/songwriter formerly of the band Kills Again. She just recently took 1st place in a singing competition out of over 300 contestants, holy gosh! We talk about how she started singing and writing, the old school days of pop-punk, Netflix, and more. Also, I'm sick, so make sure you wash your hands because tis the season for head colds. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES I MADE! #MELF Sponsor: DicksByMail.com Music: “Undeniable” by Eighty Six Happiness “Unsteady (X Ambassadors cover)” by Mel Senese & Laura Burke “The Greatest (Sia cover)” by Mel Senese “Sympathy Vote” by The Flatliners Chicago Pop Punk Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/user/1252916436/playlist/5V5Pf0rgt188LL2bxd4pWk Theme: "Dreamwalker" by Speaking With Ghosts Ad Music: "Remedy" by Hot Water Music Closing theme: "I Got Another Girl Pregnant" by Guardrail www.facebook.com/StandingOutLoud www.facebook.com/EightySixHappiness www.facebook.com/TheFlatliners www.facebook.com/SpeakingWithGhosts www.facebook.com/GuardrailChicago
