Every now and then, I come across an old interview that makes me smile when I listen to it. After watching A Madea Homecoming, this weekend and laughing at the hilarious Mr. Brown (played by David Mann). I looked through "the crates" and found this interview from 2018. We were able to do this interview while the couple was promoting their book and album project "Us Against the World". As I do from time to time, I had a guest interviewer, a good friend of mine, Tyrese Thomas. Tyrese is the leader of an amazing music group "The Healed Project", and host of the upcoming podcast "Hopester Culture". During this interview we were able to learn a lot about David and Tamela, their friendship, their beginning with Kirk Franklin, how they became Tyler Perry's Power Couple, and their advice on how to keep pushing in the music industry, in life, and in religion. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/suavvsessions/message

    J. Bernard Calloway started his acting career by doing a favor for a friend. That favor would lead him in a direction away from the sports that he loved to play and onto a stage where the ridicule could be harsh, dreams could be deferred, and the "glass ceiling" for black males was reinforced with concrete. However, as the greats have said...if you work hard and stay humble, you will always be successful. Currently, J. Bernard Calloway co-star's as "Terry Carson" on one of the most popular shows on cable television, The Ms. Pat Show on BET+, he's making a return to broadway, and his face is popping up on television appearances repeatedly. Needless to say, that hard work and hambled mentality are doing very well for him. Being a huge fan of The Ms. Pat Show and growing an affinity for "Terry Carson" (the character that J. Bernard portrays), I was excited to speak to television's newest Black father, discuss the messaging, understand the reasoning, and give flowers to the man that is giving other Black fathers a helping hand on dealing with marriage, issues, and parenting. --- This episode is sponsored by ยท Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/suavv/message
