In his 12-year professional playing career, Armstrong spent his first five seasons in the San Jose Sharks organization, making his NHL debut in 2008-09. Armstrong made stops in some of Europe's top professional leagues, playing in Russia, Finland, Germany and Sweden as well as additional stints in the AHL and ECHL playing a total of 610 professional games.
