Today, we take on a difficult conversation sparked by the tragic killing in Biddeford, Maine, and other deeply disturbing events that have unfolded in recent months. Beyond the individual tragedies is something even more troubling: a growing tendency to normalize horrific, immoral, and dehumanizing behavior. We see it in our politics. We see it in our communities. We see it in the way people talk about—and sometimes treat—one another. And when that behavior becomes normalized, we risk losing our ability to recognize just how wrong it is. As OD and HR practitioners, we are at choice. Do we simply get caught in the current of toxic behavior and cultures, quietly adapting to what has become "normal"? Or do we have the courage to call it what it is? What is our responsibility when the world around us becomes increasingly toxic? How do we create organizations where humanity, dignity, respect, and psychological safety aren't just words on a wall—but values we actively defend? And maybe this isn't just an HR or OD issue. Maybe it starts with all of us—in the small choices we make every day. A little more curiosity. A little less judgment. An act of kindness toward a stranger. A decision to see the person in front of us as a human being, even when we disagree. We can't fix everything that's wrong in the world. But perhaps we can influence the spaces we occupy, the cultures we create, and the way we treat the people we encounter. Maybe that's where change begins.

As U.S.-Iran fighting reignites, American ally Jordan, which hosts U.S. forces, has increasingly come under Iranian fire. Dependent on U.S. aid, but eager to avoid angering Iran or creating domestic concerns, it is choosing its words carefully. Also: today's stories, including how the killing of a Colombian man by an ICE officer in Biddeford, Maine, has made other immigrants and Latinos feel less secure; how local humanitarian groups in a city near the front lines in Sudan's civil war have set up Emergency Response Rooms; and how young people are both creating hit content and filling seats for the in-person moviegoing experience. Join the Monitor's Jingnan Peng for today's news.

Red State Update: Trump Diarrhea, Hegseth Testosterone, Iran War Victory Marred by Ongoing War On this episode of Red State Update, Jackie and Dunlap yell about: Trump Administration has finally gone too far for trying to blame Trump diarrhea on Taco Bell. Taylor Farms gave Trump inauguration money. That's why your bagged lettuce sits in a stew of diarrhea runoff and weevils. Democrats Fighting With Younger, Better Looking, More Gregarious Democrats The Case For Purity Tests Secret Service mad at JD Vance for using helicopters to get his son to his golf lessons. Actually now that you mention it we're kind of mad at JD Vance too. The Iran War Spirals Further Into Bloodshed and Chaos with no sign Trump knows what he's doing and Pete Hegseth is too busy testing testosterone and hiding US soldier injuries and casualties from citizens. Todd Blanche meets with Epstein victims. Haven't they suffered enough? At least Ghislaine Maxwell got a comfier jail cell. FBI won't investigate ICE killings, apparently ICE doesn't do background checks after we learned about spousal and child abuse claims from the ex-wife of ICE cop David Brouillette, who fatally shot Johan Sebastian Durán Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine. Plus billionaires and bibles, Marsha Blackburn and Andy Ogles, healthcare and data centers, and the Tennessee Charlie Kirk Highway that took a highway away from veterans gives the highway back to veterans and now Charlie Kirk has another Tennessee Charlie Kirk Highway. Jackie and Dunlap also discuss their journey from YouTube kneejerk conservatives to Never Trump podcasters to smelly woke hippie lefties. Dunlap remembers a Kid Rock song he forgot about. Tulsi Gabbard has a brother. Trump mad about leaks but nobody can investigate for him because they're all leakers. Retired Sergeant Betsy Brantner Smith of the National Police Association joins for 2A Tuesday to expose how sanctuary-left mayors like Biddeford, Maine's are abandoning federal law enforcement, forcing ICE agents onto the streets instead of letting local jails simply hand over fugitives. Smith draws a direct line from Black Lives Matter's collapse to the left's new boogeyman — ICE — and doesn't mince words calling their leadership childish and insane. She and Marc replay Tom Homan's gut-punch response about ICE agents being moms and dads too, and connect it straight to the Manhattan ICE building arson attack, arguing the sanctuary left's rhetoric is directly fueling real violence. The Marc Cox Morning Show says it plainly: support the American law enforcement officer, ICE included, and stop letting bullies rebrand themselves as the victims. Hour Three of The Marc Cox Morning Show opens with breaking news on Lindsey Graham's sister entering the Senate race, then turns serious with an ICE building arson attack in Manhattan, fueling Marc and Kim's case that dangerous left-wing rhetoric is inciting real violence against federal law enforcement. Fox and Friends First's Todd Piro joins for a lighter break — vacation smoke days, the salad kit scare, and a shared eye-roll over New York socialists who think a 12% landlord return should be unconstitutional. Things get serious again for 2A Tuesday, as retired Sergeant Betsy Brantner Smith of the National Police Association breaks down sanctuary city mayors abandoning ICE, replays Tom Homan's powerful response about agents being moms and dads too, and draws a direct line between anti-ICE propaganda and the Manhattan attack. Kim on a Whim closes the hour with a clever gut-check: Olive Garden requires photo ID for its Pasta Pass, exposing the absurdity of Democrats calling voter ID discriminatory. Hashtags: #MarcCoxMorningShow #ICE #TomHoman #LawEnforcement #2ATuesday #NationalPoliceAssociation #ToddPiro #FoxAndFriends #VoterID #SaveAmericaAct #LindseyGraham #SenateRace #BackTheBlue #ConservativeTalk #STLNews Guest List (Hour 3): Todd Piro — Fox and Friends First co-host, discussed vacation storms, the salad kit/cyclosporiasis scare, and pushed back on rent-control arguments in New York. Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith (Ret.) — National Police Association, discussed sanctuary city non-cooperation with ICE, the Biddeford, Maine shooting, and rising violence against ICE agents.
While Durán Guerrero's family are confronting his loss, his killing has also sent shockwaves through an immigrant community where there are few degrees of separation.

This Day in Maine for Friday, July 17th, 2026.
ICE agents have killed two men in the last 10 days. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was fatally shot in Houston, Texas on July 7th, as was Joan Sebastian Guerrero on July 13th in Biddeford, Maine. On this week's show, Alex looks at the lawless and race based nature of the Trump administration's immigration policies, and how Americans are reacting to them. She's first joined by Juan Proaño, CEO of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), to talk about the Araujo family's tragic loss and how Latino communities across the country are feeling. Then Alex speaks to Sarah Longwell, publisher of The Bulwark, who gives insight into where voters stand on ICE's campaign of terror. For a transcript of this episode, please email transcripts@crooked.com.

Lindsey Graham's sister just got picked by Trump via Fake Social to take his Senate seat, Trump's pet Todd Blanche wants to run DOJ, and we still managed to celebrate the good vibes this week.We get into the recent ICE killings that have people marching from Maine to Texas. Joan Sebastian Guerrero was shot by an ICE agent in Biddeford on his way to work, days after Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was killed at a traffic stop in Texas, and the pressure is already forcing reversals out of DHS. As always, we're here to make the case for real accountability and in this week's episode of Vibes Only the podcast, we get into where the abolish versus reform fight actually stands for the party. Then the Senate gets weird. Lindsey Graham died, and his sister, Darline Graham Nordone, was sworn into his seat within days, reopening the South Carolina race and handing Dr. Annie Andrews a real shot at an open seat. We break it all down for you. As well as Todd Blanche, Trump's former personal lawyer now up for attorney general, and why an independent DOJ is the thing to watch. Plus a plain English take on Reconciliation 3.0 and the SAVE Act, including the Elizabeth Warren provision that would block defense contractors like Amazon and Google from stock buybacks. Also this week: a rapid fire Clickbait or Double Click on your paycheck versus inflation, a supposed uptick in threats against the Supreme Court, and the Strait of Hormuz is back in the news. This week's Oath Candidate of the Week is Ben Gruber, the conservation warden trying to flip the tipping point seat in the Wisconsin Assembly, and we've got a double Good Vibe Goodbye straight out of New York with Kathy Hochul's data center moratorium and a horse carriage ban for Manhattan inching closer.New episodes of Vibes Only the Podcast drop every Thursday morning! In a shocking turn of events, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has temporarily halted most traffic stop arrests in the wake of recent fatal shootings. But is this move a necessary step to prevent further violence, or a misguided attempt to appease the left? This episode delves into the complexities of the issue, exploring the root causes of the problem and the motivations behind the left's reaction. The speaker argues that the left's open borders policy and lack of cooperation with local law enforcement are major contributors to the tensions between ICE agents and the communities they serve. By not allowing ICE to do its job, the left is essentially putting both the agents and the public in harm's way. The speaker also highlights the importance of understanding the reality of vehicles as weapons and the need for ICE agents to be trained to handle high-pressure situations. The conversation touches on the recent incidents in Maine and Houston, where ICE agents were involved in fatal shootings, and the subsequent reactions from local officials and immigrant rights groups. The speaker also discusses the role of politicians like Senator Susan Collins, who has called for an independent investigation into the shooting in Biddeford, Maine. If you're concerned about the state of our immigration system and the impact of the left's policies on public safety, tune in to this episode to hear the speaker's thought-provoking analysis and insights. In the past week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers were involved in deadly shootings in Texas and Maine. On Monday, in Biddeford, Maine, an officer shot and killed a man who allegedly disregarded orders to stop his vehicle and attempted to flee. Separately, on Tuesday, July 7 in Houston, ICE agents shot and killed a man whom they accused of “weaponizing his vehicle” during a traffic stop. State and local officials have called for investigations into both incidents. Plus: DOJ Issues Subpoenas for NYT Qatar Plane Coverage. Jay Z is back. World Cup Final Four. MLB Allstar Game is Something Good. No guests today — just Paul Rieckhoff, coming to you from a brutally hot New York City with the five I's to keep you cool: independence, integrity, information, inspiration, and impact. The top story is a shock: Lindsey Graham, the 71-year-old South Carolina senator and staunch Trump ally, has died. Paul reflects on a complicated legacy — the man who voted to send him to war, drilled in the reserves as a sitting senator, disappointed vets by voting against the post-9/11 GI Bill, and eventually folded fully into Trump land, but who stood with Ukraine when it mattered. His pitch: pass Graham's Russia sanctions bill now and name it in his honor. He also flags the deeper problem with naming an inexperienced family member to a Senate seat that votes on war and peace, checks in on a silent, recovering Mitch McConnell, and breaks down Trump's reignited Iran war — the worst ceasefire ever, 140 targets hit over the weekend, and "President Mayhem" at his peak while markets churn. Then the throughline Paul says you can't look away from: ICE running rampant. Two more people killed in a week — in Biddeford, Maine, and in Houston — with DHS slow to explain and accountability nowhere in sight. Believe your eyes, he says: this is unlawful, unaccountable, and un-American, and shutting ICE down is a patriotic stance, not a partisan one — especially with the specter of the Insurrection Act looming. Paul also hits Trump's escalating war on the press (grand-jury subpoenas to the New York Times reporters who covered the Qatari-gifted Air Force One), some good news from the courts holding the line, a quick primary-season heads-up, and — because it's summer — Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium, a World Cup down to four headed for MetLife, and the "something good" of the MLB All-Star Game in Philly. A deadly ICE shooting in Biddeford, Maine left an immigrant dead behind the wheel — and before any investigation, evidence, or facts were confirmed, Democrats and Democratic candidates were already calling federal agents "murderers." This video walks through what's actually known (bullet holes through the windshield, an eyewitness account, video of the vehicle moving toward agents), contrasts it with Fox News's chaotic on-the-ground coverage, and breaks down reactions from Maine Senate hopefuls Troy Jackson and Seth Moulton, AOC, Rep. Sylvia Garcia's "shoot the tires" comment, and Whoopi Goldberg's take on The View. The larger argument: Democrats benefit politically from unrest around ICE, and their rhetoric around "resistance" may be fueling more of these confrontations.
