    Ivy Insights

The Money Sessions podcast, hosted by Tiffany McLain, is a game-changer for therapists looking to navigate the often confusing and challenging world of money and private practice. As someone who discovered this podcast through a therapist's post on Clinicians of Color, I was instantly blown away by its impact. With a mix of inspiration, practical advice, and thought-provoking interviews, this podcast has become my go-to resource for all things related to therapist finances.

One of the best aspects of The Money Sessions is its ability to inspire and motivate therapists to take control of their financial situation. Through interviews with successful therapists who have managed to build thriving private practices, listeners are given a sense of what is possible in this field. This podcast challenges the notion that therapists must accept low pay or work for free. It opens our eyes to the idea that we deserve to earn as much as we want and provides tools and strategies for making it happen.

Another standout aspect of this podcast is Tiffany McLain herself. Her style is authentic, humorous, and relatable. She brings her own personal experiences as well as her expertise as a money mindset coach and therapist to each episode. Her ability to ask thoughtful questions and engage guests in meaningful conversations makes for an engaging listening experience.

While there are few drawbacks to The Money Sessions podcast, one potential downside is that some episodes may not resonate with every listener. Different topics and guests may appeal more to certain individuals depending on their specific needs or interests in the realm of therapist finances. However, with the wide range of episodes available, there is likely something for everyone at some point.

In conclusion, The Money Sessions podcast is an invaluable resource for therapists seeking guidance on navigating the financial aspects of their profession. Whether you are just starting out in private practice or looking to grow your current practice, this podcast offers insights, inspiration, and practical tips that can transform your mindset about money and empower you in building a financially stable practice. Tiffany McLain's engaging and relatable style, coupled with her guests' diverse experiences, make this podcast a must-listen for therapists looking to thrive financially.

Emily made a remarkable shift from earning $50K annually at a prestigious university job to charging $350 per session in her private practice, earning many times her previous salary while working fewer hours. These changes have allowed Emily to experience more spaciousness and ease in her life, allowing her to show up more presently as a mom. She is modeling what it looks like to be a mother and primary breadwinner, despite her early childhood messaging that women should be seen and not heard. Tune in to hear Emily's inspiring journey and how she overcame societal expectations to build a successful and fulfilling career. In this episode, Emily will share: How she went from 50k a year to as high as $350 per session in her premium fee practice; Why she made the decision to leave insurance panels and how she did it step by step; What terrified her about leaving insurance panels in order to go private pay; How building her own premium fee practice led to her own personal and professional growth; How she overcame cultural and societal expectations that she will never amount to much as a woman.   Resources mentioned: The Lean In. What's keeping these therapists in a situation that doesn't work for them, that they don't ultimately want? Why not change?  There are lots of answers to this question, but here's one that keeps popping up: an important person (or people) discouraging the therapist from taking action.  Let's talk about it.   In this episode, Tiffany shares:  How to distinguish between advice that's meant to further your private practice goals versus advice that's meant to deter you;  How to keep your respected colleagues and loved ones close without falling prey to their limiting beliefs about what's possible for you;  The real reason your peers are discouraging you from leaving insurance panels or raising your fees;  The number one thing you need to do to make your next big professional leap.  Looking for a community to go forward with you?
