Πέντε χρόνια μετά την κυκλοφορία του AC Valhalla, η Ubisoft κυκλοφορεί το νέο της AC ως συνέχεια της σειράς που ξεκίνησε με το Origins, ακολούθησε το Odyssey, το Valhalla και πλέον το νέο της παιχνίδι AC Shadows. Ενδιάμεσα φρόντισε να μην αφήσει το κοινό χωρίς τίτλο και κυκλοφόρησε το Mirage το οποίο κάλυψε έστω και χωρίς μεγάλη επιτυχία το κενό.Το AC Shadows πέρασε από χίλια κύματα, πήρε αναβολή, κατηγορήθηκε για την επιλογή ενός μαύρου σαμουράι και τελικά έφτασε η μέρα που κυκλοφορεί το παιχνίδι. Καταφέρνει να επιστρέψει στην συνταγή που τουλάχιστον άρεσε στον κόσμο όπως συνέβη με το AC Origins ή όχι;

Azioni inutili come: fermarsi in riva al lago, pescare un pesce, piantare la tenda e cucinarlo prima di addormentarsi sotto le stelle, derivano solo dal nostro sentirci parte del mondo, così come bere una tazza di caffè nero bollente alla mattina prima di rimettersi in sella al nostro destriero. Oppure camminare lentamente per la città invece di correre sempre come forsennati. Dall’altra parte il mondo di gioco è “vuoto”, privato di azioni videoludiche classiche, nessun punto di domanda sulla mappa, nessun accampamento nemico da sterminare e spesso quando si trova una location bella è semplicemente quello: una bella location senza nulla da proporre a livello ludico.Dall’altra parte abbiamo giochi come gli Assassin’s Creed, gli Horizon zero dawn, i Days Gone etc… con le loro mappe colorate piene di icone che propongono tonnellate di contenuto ludico. se c’è un fortino sulla mappa, stai sicuro che sarà pieno di banditi e garantirà dei punti XP, delle risorse o bonus di qualche tipo. Però ci si accorge sempre, in qualsiasi momento passato col pad in mano, che si è di fronte a un videogioco. non ci verrà mai in mente di camminare lentamente per le strade di alessandria o di non scavalcare il muro di cinta di una casa per andare a parlare con una persona piuttosto che girare l’isolato per entrare dalla porta principale. Questo perchè sei sempre conscio di essere in un videogioco e vuoi solo raggiungere e completare il prossimo obiettivo.Se galoppi per le strade di Menfi e urti qualche NPC, vieni si insultato, ma te ne sbatti altamente, perchè quelli li percepisci sempre chiaramente come NPC che ti intralciano. Cavalcando per le strade di Saint Denis in RDR2 invece, ti senti un pirata della strada ad andare oltre il trotto investendo le “persone” che la abitano.Non mi verrebbe mai in mente di entrare in una locanda con bayek per fargli bere una birra, mentre con Arthur trovavo rilassante e “necessario” fermarmi al saloon, fargli bere un whiskey e fargli fare un bagno nella tinozza sul retro.Cosa ne pensate? avete mai avuto la sensazione di “vivere” dentro un gioco? vi siete mai persi tra le foreste o sulle montagne pensando per un momento di non avere un joypad in mano? non parlo di meccaniche RPG o survival, che richiedono espressamente di mangiare, dormire per avere bonus. Parlo proprio di quelle volte che avete fatto compiere azioni inutili al personaggio al solo scopo di sentirvi parte del mondo di gioco.

What an episode we have this week! Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, Super Mario Odyssey and Assassin's Creed: Origins dominate and we played them all. Each game is completely unique and it's probably the first time in history we've had this level of quality out in one day (not to mention Stranger Things Season 2.) In our news, we talk about the death of the Kinect, support for Gamecube controllers on the Switch, Animal Crossing for mobile and the remastering of L.A. Noire. We also talk about the length of the new Battlefront 2 campaign. It's roughly 5-7 hours. Is that too short or just what we wanted without overdoing it? Finally, it's Halloween and you know what that means? Lot's of scares. We go around the table and reminisce on our favorite horror games and why they scared us.
