In this episode, life coach and spiritual business mentor Krista Kathleen shares her powerful approach to navigating fear in a world that often feels like it's on fire. Instead of getting swept up in the chaos, Krista teaches how to filter information through intuition, protect your energy, and stay aligned with your mission. She opens up about her decision to ditch the news, trust in divine guidance, and embrace what she calls "healing crises"—those messy, uncomfortable moments that ultimately lead to growth.
The Cutting Edge Japan Business Show By Dale Carnegie Training Tokyo, Japan
The hero's journey is for the very, very few. I did it my way, I slaved away in a garret and got to the top, I realised the American dream – all good stuff, but an illusion for most. The reality is there are more of us who need the cooperation of others, than those who can succeed despite others. The age of the “one” has been taken over by the age of the “many”. Hero teams are more powerful than individual heroes. The problem is although we may need the cooperation of others, we are not that good at getting it. We limit our scope through two key areas – how we communicate and how we react. We like what we like and we find affinity with those who like similar things. We like to speak in a certain way and we click with others who speak the same way. It might be a shared accent, denoting a similar background, and we are all pretty good at spotting the subtleties of dialect. That is okay, but it still doesn't help us to go far enough. You might share a common accent, but that doesn't mean you get on with everyone from back home Reflecting the preferences of others is a much more effective way of building trust and cooperation. Does this mean being two faced and manipulative? No, it means being flexible and other focused rather than me, me, me focused. When we are speaking with others we notice the way they prefer to communicate. It will vary from very low energy to high output - softly spoken to plain loud. Neither side likes the other much. The loud person can't hear the softly spoken person and feels annoyed, because they have to struggle to hear what they are saying. The softly spoken person is quietly upset, because they don't like people who are loud and aggressive. The key here is to adjust ourselves to suit the situation and the other person, if we want to gain their cooperation. If you say, “well I am me, I have my rights and they should adjust themselves to how I like it”, then let me know how that is working out for you? We will need to increase our energy and volume when we speak with high output people. We may feel like we are screaming, but on their scale all we are doing is communicating normally. The opposite applies, when we have to drop the volume and the strength. We may feel like we are whispering and it is killing us, but the counterparty feels very comfortable chatting with you. Some individuals are really detail oriented, they are constantly seeking data, proof, evidence about what they are being told. When we interact with this group, we notice the micro focus immediately and so we need to start adding a lot more detail to our explanations or recommendations. We may feel this is too nitty gritty and frankly, massive overkill, but that is not how they see it. For them this is absolutely normal and unremarkable. The opposite preference is for big picture discussions. Don't worry about the details, the practicality, the roll out - we will get to that later. They want to plot the future direction in broad brush terms. For detail orientated people this is painful, because everything seems fluffy and unrealistic. Don't fight it – encourage them to go big and go with them. Put up some crazy ideas (judged crazy from your evidence based thinking point of view) of your own and don't feel guilty. They will welcome all crazy ideas, including yours. When we hear something we don't like, we often react first and think later. Bad approach! Instead, bite your tongue and hear them out – don't jump in over the top of them with your counter idea, critique or cutting comment. Try ear, brain, mouth rather than ear, mouth, brain as an order of approach. Use a “cushion”, a sentence that is neither for nor against what they are saying. It is a neutral statement, used to simply break our usual pattern of too rapid intervention. It gives us crucial time to think about what we want to say and how we are going to say it. Before we comment or attempt to criticise them, we instead ask them why they think that or why they say that. While they are providing some background and context around their position, we are able to bypass our immediate chemical reaction and reach deeper down to our calmer second or even third, considered response. When we do speak we may even accept their position because the context made sense or be able to suggest a counter position. We can do this in a calm way, that doesn't lead to an argument and bad feelings. These two actions on our part will build the trust and establish the lines of communication required to convince other to help us on our own hero team journey. Speak in a reflective manner and don't react immediately to what you are hearing. You may think this is killing you, because it is so different to how you normally operate, but if you want to be effective with all types of people, this is the secret – adjust yourself first. Newtonian physics says for each action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Fine, but we don't want that – we want a different and improved reaction, so let's change our own angle of approach with others, so that we get a much better response. Action Steps Be flexible and be focused on those with whom you are communicating: If they are micro, you go micro If they are macro, you go macro If they are fast paced, then speed up If they are moderate in pace, then slow down When you hear something you don't like use ear, brain, mouth Before you reply, use a cushion to give yourself time to craft your response

Chapter 7 Attitude Matters The only disability in life is a bad attitude. — Scott Hamilton Choosing to have a positive attitude toward life is the only way to gain the freedom of letting go of negative thoughts and energy. Storms will come in life's journey, but we can hold the hope that the storm will end and the future can be even brighter. The truth is this: Attitude is a choice, and it can make or break people. Get your attitude straight, and everything else will take care of itself. The formula for success starts with attitude. You are going to have good days and some bad days, but how you respond to them when being around your kids or students is going to have an impression on them that they'll remember for the rest of their lives. Action Steps: ● Be more aware of your attitude by reflecting on the words you use daily when talking to yourself and others. ● Gratitude: Wake up each morning, put your feet on the ground, and be thankful that you are alive each day. ● Positive Blinders: Stay away from anyone or anything negative. ● Clarity: Listen to positive and uplifting music, podcasts, or books. ● Be a positive human magnet. Focus on being someone people want to be around. Please leave a review on the podcast platform that you are listening too. Also, if you can, please leave a review on Amazon. A demagogue is a politician who appeals to popular desires and prejudices to garner support. Donald Trump is a modern American demagogue, who breaks many of the rules of presenting but he gets the key stuff right. Love him or loath him, he must be doing something right, as he is proving to be very persuasive with the audiences who flock to hear him speak. Are there any lessons here for us, when we come to give our own presentations? He is authentic when he speaks. He does have some notes to keep him on track, but he barely refers to them. He digresses, goes off on tangents, gets sidetracked, but the audience understands this is the price for the speaker being non-scripted. He keeps their attention because he concentrates on his audience. Trump's messages can be quickly understood. Build a big wall; everyone is more cunning than we are; make America great again; read my Art of the Deal; it's my own money so I don't owe anybody; politicians are useless; I am rich and successful; I know how to get things done; I am not politically correct; etc. He is a classic demagogue, but as a speaker, he presents his ideas such that we can remember them. Trump totally oozes self confidence. Now, we may not have his same degree of self-belief or his billions, but we must exude confidence when speaking with our audience. In Dale Carnegie we bolster confidence through embracing the 3 E's: We have Earned the right to speak, because we know our subject; we are Excited because of our positive feelings for the content; and we are Eager to share with our audience, because we feel this will help them. Trump loves to tell stories. He weaves these vignettes into his speech to highlight his key points. Storytelling works and as he demonstrates, they don't have to be lengthy stories to be effective. Talk about people, places and emotions that the audience can identify with. Don't say, “we were having a meeting”. Talk about, “It was winter in New York and we were in the wood paneled boardroom of the client, on the 36th floor of the Rockefeller Center, having a tough meeting with the CEO Jane Smith and I was becoming more and more nervous.” Now we have taken our audience to the place, added in the people, the season, the atmosphere etc., such that they can clearly visualise it in their mind's eye. Action Steps Be authentic, but be the professional you Focus on your audience the entire time you are presenting – never take your eyes off them Take every chance to speak for the practice Keep the key messages simple and easily accessible for the audience Appear supremely confident, even if your knees are quivering Embrace the 3 E's - Earned, Excited and Eager Use stories to bring your content to life

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to not have a period? Adrienne Nolan-Smith shares her journey of dealing with amenorrhea and recovering from chronic Lyme disease. She talks about the importance of becoming your own health advocate and being more knowledgeable and informed about your symptoms. You can find all the info and links about this episode at https://holisticwellness.ca/episode82. Topics Discussed in this Episode: Understanding amenorrhea and taking the steps towards healing Recovering from chronic Lyme disease Working in the conventional health system and realizing its limitations when it comes to supporting chronic diseases Creating WellBe and bridging the gap between the health care system and the wellness movement Key Takeaways: The kind of medicine that should be practiced today is not built into the current insurance model (at least in the US). If you want quality practitioners and doctors who are going to roll up their sleeves and do the hard work with you to figure out what’s going on and help you heal, you have to understand that it takes time to investigate the root cause of your symptoms, and it’s currently outside of the insurance model in the US. Your diet and the condition of your gut are hugely connected to your hormones. When healthcare and wellness finally come together, we’ll be able to reverse the chronic disease epidemic. The only way you can have real healing is to get the body to a place where it can heal itself and utilize the incredible power of the immune system. Action Steps: Be your own advocate when it comes to your health and do some research before you see a conventional medicine practitioner. Make sure your home is optimized for health. Throw out and replace everything toxic in your home and in your everyday habits. Adrienne said: “I know so many people with means and education who are still making terrible decisions about their health every single day.” “I need to spread awareness and education before I can start talking to people about the actionable steps of now making these changes or helping them further.” Thanks for listening! What form of birth control should you be using if you’re not going to use a birth control pill? This is a question that I get a lot and one that I’m going to dive into in this episode. If this is something that you’ve been wanting to know, tune in and learn what non-hormonal birth control options are out there for you. You can find all the info and links about this episode at https://holisticwellness.ca/episode81. Topics Discussed in this Episode: The symptoms that you experience when you’re on the pill Your non-hormonal birth control options Key Takeaways: Using the birth control pill causes a lot of nutrient depletion like zinc, magnesium, vitamin C and the B vitamins -- all things that are so important and needed for supporting your hormones, your cycle, and your overall health. All forms of hormonal contraceptives can increase your risk of cancer. When it comes to natural forms of birth control, the number one is to do natural family planning. Even if you have a very irregular cycle, you can still do natural family planning. It’s going to provide you with so much data and information about your body. The Copper IUD can deplete your body’s ability to absorb zinc, so if you’re going to use it, it’s recommended that you supplement with zinc Action Steps: Be conscious of the synthetic hormones that you are putting into your body. Consider doing natural family planning. Use the barrier method. Samantha said: “As we age, our hormones do decline. And so it’s really important to integrate some important protocols and strategies and a lot of self-care so we can age gracefully and we can have a lot of ease around our cycles and as we head into menopause.” “If you know you want to be a mom in the future, use condoms today because it’s really one of the best ways to protect your reproductive organs and keep them healthy…” Thanks for listening! Summer is finally here! And it’s only fitting that we talk about the sun and its impact on our health. Here at the 5 myths that you need to know about the sun and your skin. You can find all the info and links about this episode at https://holisticwellness.ca/episode68. Topics Discussed in this Episode: The 5 myths you need to know about the sun and your skin The harmful chemicals that you need to avoid in sunscreens How to practice natural sun safety Foods rich in antioxidants that will help nourish and protect your skin What products to invest in for sun protection Key Takeaways: It’s not true that sunscreen reduces skin cancer rates. According to the Environmental Working Group, skin cancer rates are rising despite our increase in the use of sunscreens. High SPF doesn’t mean better sun protection. SPF values refer only to UVB rays, not UVA or UVC. UVA and UVC rays penetrate more deeply into the skin and cause damage to the DNA. Sunscreens with added antioxidants are not necessarily better for you. Wearing oils with natural SPF is not enough for sun protection. If you’re not wearing something that’s broad-spectrum, you’re not blocking all of the UV rays. Although vitamin D is important for overall cancer protection and we need to get our vitamin D from sun exposure, we still need to practice sun safety. Action Steps: Be conscious of the harmful chemicals that may be present in your sunscreen. Be conscious of how much time you’re spending outside and how much sun exposure you’re actually getting. Practice natural sun safety. Wear long, light layers that will cover your skin, as well as a hat and sunglasses. Choose all-natural, organic sunscreen with broad-spectrum protection. Samantha said: “UV radiation, it increases free radical damage in our bodies, but antioxidants counteract that free radical damage. So you want to make sure you are including antioxidant-rich foods [in your diet] that are really going to help nourish and protect your skin.” “Our life on this planet needs sunshine and it’s not the enemy. It’s just practicing safe sun protection and being conscious about our time spent out in the sun. It is vital that we get sun exposure, and it really isn’t the problem.” Thanks for listening! Father's Day: Jun 16, 2019 Speaker: Pastor Patrick Kelley Originally Recorded: Jun 16, 2019 Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Enhance the flavor of life. #BeSalty Be a re-presentation of Christ. #GetLit BIG IDEA: Dads you’re more important than you know! Action Steps: Be intentional about your words and actions. Lead your family in all things including spiritual things. Show what it means to love God and be a re-presentation of Him and His love.

Topics Discussed in this Episode: [01:30] How Scott and his business partner got started with OH Partners and their vision for the company [03:28] How they went about getting their first clients and learning from failure [06:24] How they started closing deals and picking big clients like Arizona State University [09:34] Working with sports franchises and understanding the business metrics better than their competitors [11:47] Strategies in building relationships with key decision makers of organizations [14:24] How they succeeded in getting their first big client, the Arizona Lottery, and what they were able to do for them [18:21] The research that they did that impacted their creative decisions, that ultimately led to the execution of their strategy into an effective campaign [25:20] What it was like going through different employee stages and the things they had to change to make things work [26:44] How they hired the best people to run their business [31:11] How they know if someone is a good fit for their company [32:15] Why they decided to focus on their big clients [35:12] How they went about trimming the number of their clients [39:24] The one thing they did that had the biggest impact on their growth [41:20] The area that Scott had to personally evolve and grow in to grow their business Key Takeaways: Higher win rates in new business pitching results from being smart about who you can help, who you want to work with, and what you’re passionate about. For a business like OH Partners, it’s about relationships. You have to have great connections in the marketplace and grow not only your agency’s brand but your personal brand. In a professional service business, what brands you’re aligned with speaks a lot about what kind of work you do. Clients can feel when you’re passionate about their business and they understand that you know the business metrics of their industry. You need 7 to 10 touch points within an organization with their key decision makers before you’re even on their radar. And it has to happen organically, it can’t look forced. The strategy of having a spokesperson to give a brand life is not a new strategy. It’s an old strategy that continues to work. In the ad agency business, you need to be very clear on what your weaknesses are and how you improve those weaknesses. Otherwise, you’re vulnerable to not only losing current accounts but vulnerable to winning new accounts. The 80/20 rule is that 80% of your revenue comes from 20% of your clients. There are benefits to focusing on fewer clients who are big and letting go of your smaller clients. Action Steps: Be strategic about what you’re good at, what type of people you want to align yourself with, what industries you deeply understand, and the consumer. Build relationships with the key decision makers of the companies and organizations that you want to work with. You don’t need to create new strategies. Utilize old strategies that work. Know your strengths and weakness. Any area that you feel you have a major weakness, go and recruit a talent that would make up for that weakness. Create a great culture and a great place to work. This will help you hire the right people. Hire the person that you need two years from now, not the person you need today. Focus on your big clients and not letting them go away. Scott said: “Strategy is not what you’re going to do, but strategy, more importantly, is deciding what you’re not going to do.” “The hardest lessons we’ve learned and the biggest failures that we’ve had have catapulted us to where we are today… Good entrepreneurs are stupid because they don’t know how hard things are going to be to succeed, and they just do it and they jump in.” More from Scott Harkey and OH Partners: Scott’s LinkedIn OH Partners’ Website OH Partners’ Instagram (@ohadvertising) OH Partners’ Facebook OH Partners’ LinkedIn Resources mentioned in this episode: Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap...And Others Don't by Jim Collins The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Are you and husband trying to start a family but are somehow beset with fertility issues? Fertility expert Dr. Marc Sklar is here to talk about how you can support your fertility and help you find a solution. Don’t lose hope, believe in your fertility, and empower your body to create a healthy pregnancy.Visit https://holisticwellness.ca/podcast for the complete show notes of every podcast episode. Topics Discussed in this Episode: My number one advice to finding the solution to fertility issues The Fertility Balanced Wheel (12 areas that affect fertility) The signs and symptoms telling you that you need to pay more attention to what you’re doing with your digestive system The 2 key areas that have a huge impact on any health condition Where we need to start making changes and how The impact of environmental toxins on our overall health Acupuncture and herbal medicine for fertility How men can support their fertility Prenatal supplementation Key Takeaways: Three big areas that affect fertility, that often get missed and ignored are digestion, inflammation, and autoimmunity. Digestive issues can take a long time to heal. It’s not something that you heal once and you’ll all good and you can move on for the rest of your life, because it’s something that you use every day, all day long. The digestive system is the key to most patient issues like unexplained infertility. It’s essential that we get the foundation taken care of, which is what’s going on with our diet and how we are eating. Regardless of what kind of health issue we’re dealing with, the digestive function needs to be at the top of the list of things we need to look into. For many of us, more stress equals more digestive issues. Acupuncture is wonderful at increasing blood circulation and regulating the nervous system. Herbs are used to change hormones specifically. Most of the burden when it comes to fertility falls on the woman because they are the ones that carry the baby. But that doesn’t mean that the man doesn’t have responsibilities and doesn’t take part in this process. Action Steps: Be mindful and aware of what’s going on in your digestive system. Eat balanced meals throughout the day that are made up of clean, whole foods. Pick a diet that works for you, and tweak it according to what your body needs. Objectively look at the 12 areas that affect your fertility and see how you can improve in each area. Do one thing at a time. Start making changes in one area, starting with one thing in that area, and build upon successes. Dr. Sklar said: “We’re so used to compartmentalizing and specializing when it comes to medicine in this day and age that we forget that there are all these other areas that can and do influence our overall health, and our reproductive health is no different.” “The one thing I want every man out there to recognize is even if you’ve got low sperm count, you’ve got poor motility… and poor morphology... if those things are all compromised, don’t think there’s nothing you can do about it. There’s a lot you can do.” Thanks for listening! Your children and your family should come first before anything else. Action Steps: Be more strategic with your time when your kids are in school. Have a CEO day and a self-care day every single month, or even once a week. Alicia says: “There are things that come up as your kids grow. Your kids go from different stages, and your business is going to change as they grow. I always say that your business should revolve around your children and your family, not the other way around.” “We always put our health on the back burner and then our bodies suffer, our kids suffer. We are building businesses that are here for longevity. We're not doing a fly by night thing.” Thanks for listening! Crowdfunding agency Enventys Partners (formerly Command Partners) has helped launch over 450 new businesses via crowdfunding campaigns. They’ve helped raise over $150M and last year generated over $10M in revenue. Roy Morejon explains how they did it. Topics Discussed in this Episode: [01:28] How Roy got started with Command Partners [09:58] How they started getting more projects and building their customer base [14:57] Building a team around each project [16:46] Setting client expectations [25:30] How Command Partners merged with Enventys [30:32] How they put systems and processes in place to gain more consistent results [32:16] How they brought in the key people to step up their business [35:37] Strategies with regards to content marketing [38:02] Strategies to get speaking opportunities Key Takeaways: There is an opportunity for any company out there to run a crowdfunding campaign, whether it be reward-based with a physical product or potentially equity-based. The unfortunate side of running a Kickstarter campaign is basically you see the worst of anybody. It’s hard to point out what’s wrong with their product or why things are not working, but it’s a conversation that you have to have. There’s a lot of pre-launch work that needs to be done in order to have success in a business. It’s expensive to bring a product to market. It takes about 2 to 20 years of product development before a product gets manufactured, QA tested or UL approved. But many people have this misconception that it can just be made very quickly and cheaply in China. Action Steps: Be transparent with everything that goes on internally and externally for your company. Focus on the categories that you’re an expert in. Keep educating yourself and understand how crowdfunding works and how these types of campaigns are unique and challenging on their own. Roy said: “You don’t bring an opinion to a data fight.” “There’s no better time to start something than today.” More from Roy Morejon: Enventys Partners Roy’s Website Art of the Kickstart Resources mentioned in this episode: AnswerThePublic Ubersuggest Quora Sponsor link 14-day Free Trial to LeadQuizzes Thank you for listening! The words we use to talk with our children about money, being able to afford something or calling things expensive are powerful shapers of their reality and their destiny. Let's have a conversation around teaching them their power and instilling a beautiful belief system in their minds around money at a young age. 3 Key Takeaways Have real conversations about how you want to spend money. When teaching your kids about money, rather than using words based in lack, based in scarcity, based in not enough, based in diminishing their power of what they can create in this world, you can have real conversations about how you want to spend your money as parents and what things you think are best for your kids, because that does fall on you as parents. Shift your language. Rather than putting a monetary value on something and saying that it’s expensive, shift your words into saying it’s important and why it’s important. Help your children to own their power to create the life they choose. Notice your language when you’re talking to your kids about money, about the affordability of something, about the value of something, and help them to own their power in creating and drawing to them things that would make their lives fuller and richer. Quotes “Money is a beautiful thing. It is so useful. It can help you to create a beautiful life. It can expand your awareness of so many experiences.” “Because of money there are so many wonderful things we can share and say about having money, but that’s not the conversation most of us heard growing up.” “When you follow your joy, you’re rewarded financially. When you serve others, you will always be taken care of.” “Money can be fun. Money is meant for enjoyment and circulation.” Action Steps Be mindful of what you’re saying to your kids about money matters. Change your language. For example, when purchasing something, instead of saying, “That’s too expensive. We can’t afford it,” you can say something like, “Let’s buy it next time.” Visit Bridgett here on the blog: http://thetruthaboutliving.com Join the fb group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/629400203914720/ Watch & Subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgW0B8eytH3KK7RUi6o-7uA
