The Oregon legislature is about to pass Senate Bill 1182, which would authorize the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to give away the half-billion dollar, four-acre, I-5 lid over the Rose Quarter—plus all property and development rights and contracts—to a single black-owned nonprofit, the Albina Vision Trust or AVT.ODOT's Design Summary for the cover states that a “Black-led, community development corporation” would control the property and development. AVT's leader states that “the Black community should be able to have both the land on the freeway caps and the jobs that come with building them.”This would qualify as denying opportunities to those who aren't Black, based solely upon their race. The Supreme Court outlawed this practice two years ago in Fair Admissions v. Harvard when the majority wrote, “ameliorating societal discrimination does not constitute a compelling interest that justifies race-based state action.”In other words, SB1182 would support construction and ownership opportunities that violate state and federal laws prohibiting race-based discrimination. Handing over public assets to a private organization who plans to hire only Black contractors will simply invite litigation, and legislators should be ashamed of themselves for approving it.The Governor should veto SB1182.

Last week, the Portland school board unanimously passed a resolution allowing for the sale of its North Portland district headquarters to the Albina Vision Trust. The local nonprofit has been working to restore the historically Black Albina neighborhood through redevelopment efforts such as the construction of 94 affordable housing units it recently broke ground on. The idea for AVT’s acquisition of the PPS property goes back several years, and gained momentum last month when AVT presented its proposal to the PPS board, including a commitment to help the district find a new headquarters location that matches or exceeds the value of its current site. The resolution establishes a timeline of up to one year for a new location to be identified, along with various milestones that must be met. Michelle DePass, a Portland Public Schools Board member who grew up in the Albina neighborhood, and Winta Yohannes, executive director of Albina Vision Trust, join us to discuss the details.

Wendy has her Masters in Education, a Postgraduate Certificate in Auditory Verbal Studies and is an Auditory Skills Therapist. In addition to being a Content Creator at the 3C Digital Media Network, she is also a Course Consultant for SoundIntuition. Hard Knocks episode 2 will air tonight on HBO and Max. We talked about Aaron Rodgers and his fresh start with the Jets and how recharged he looks on the sidelines and in interviews. Boomer thinks the other RBs in the room are going to be unhappy that Cook signed. Maybe BREECE Hall is not as healthy as we thought. The Jets are loaded at a ton of positions right now. Boomer thinks they will continue to look for offensive linemen. C-Lo is in for Jerry this morning and starts with Dalvin Cook joining the Jets and what that means for BREECE Hall's return. The Jets canceled the joint practice for Thursday against the Bucs. Zeke Elliott is joining the Patriots on a 1-year deal. Gio thinks he's washed up. Boomer said on the goal line he is still a threat. Giants GM Joe SCHOEN said Daniel Jones is first in and last out of the facility. The Yankees lost again to the Braves last night. Clarke Schmidt had a rough outing last night, which he was overdue for. The Mets beat the Pirates at Citi Field. Justin VERLANDER responded on Twitter to reports he's a ‘diva'. In the final segment of the hour, Jets defensive tackle Solomon Thomas joins us. He went to the Hall of Fame induction of Joe Klecko and DARRELLE REVIS. He's also been to Broadway a few times with Aaron Rodgers. As a kid, he had a choice between pursuing football or theater. Derek JETER will attend his first Old Timer's Day on September 9th. Peyton Manning is going to teach at the University of Tennessee. In the final segment of the hour, Joe and Evan will be here later today and we wonder how many ‘how bout that's' we're going to get from Joe. Aaron Rodgers is the alpha male in the building, over Rob Saleh. But Boomer said he knows the line and respects the coach.  Hour 4: We are live from Jets camp for one more hour. We talked about what we expect to see on Hard Knocks episode 2 tonight. We need a Divisional Weekend home game for the Jets. The AFC is very tough with a lot of really good teams. They are tied for 7th in Super Bowl odds. The Lions are right behind them which doesn't make sense to Gio. Boomer seems to love the Steelers this year. They will have a top 5 defense and Kenny Pickett looks like he knows what he's doing. Gio loves that he bailed on fantasy football a few years ago. C-Lo returns for his final update of the day and it looks like BREECE Hall will come off the PUP list today. Evan Roberts had to pee outside during his Giants broadcast because everything was shut down. The Yankees lost to the Braves again last night. Luis SEVERINO gets the start tonight against Atlanta. Irina Shayk is cutting off her loose lip friends because she doesn't want to scare off Tom Brady. In the final segment of the show, Michael OHER said the entire movie, ‘The Blind Side' was a lie. He said he was never adopted and never made any money off the film, while the family made millions. The family denies making millions off the film.

Jerry wonders if Johnny Manziel kind of gave up before he really got started in Cleveland in part because of where he was playing. CLo has clips from Max Scherzer detailing his conversation with Steve Cohen and Billy Eppler. Robert Saleh wants to keep the Jets grounded and the Giants are under the radar. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry wishes good luck to Massapequa Little League tonight and then plays a version of WFAN Immaculate Grid. Hour 3: Boomer talks about the wildfires in Maui and knows that the wonderful people out there will rebuild a beautiful island. The guys then discuss the story with Iowa and Iowa State players allegedly betting on games they played in. What should their punishment be? This leads to more discussion of Phil Mickelson denying betting on the Ryder Cup. C-Lo returns for an update but first, Boomer reminds us that online sportsbooks can track who is betting on what so it's hard for anyone who shouldn't be gambling to get away with it. Players asking other players to join them is not tampering. Should teams in states with high taxes be allowed to have a higher salary cap? Level the playing field somehow. Aaron Rodgers and Zach Wilson are having fun at camp. In the final segment of the hour, CLo debuts “Is he a Jet, Giant, Senator or Fictional Sports Movie Character?” Hour 4: Jerry ticked off some Mets fans yesterday when he suggested that Pete Alonso might not be a long-term fit. Boomer tries to figure out what a fair contract for Alonso will look like. Jerry says if the Mets want him then they should get a deal done before Pete hits free agency at the end of next season. What do the Yankees need to do in these next six games against the Marlins and Braves? C-Lo returns for his final update of the week but first, Jerry looks for Mets tickets on the secondary market. He will have plenty of options to sit in great seats on the cheap. Bill Belichick's press conferences where he says nothing are back. Mike Tyson gets some songs confused. Jets tackle Billy Turner had an interesting way to describe the difference between playing left tackle and right. In the final segment of the week, Jerry reveals the secret to Boomer working until he's 100. Boomer wants to take everyone on a python hunt.
