For some unknowable reason, David picked The Pest this week. Hear him regret this decision on-mic and be berated by Justus for forcing this vile undertaking upon the podcast. It's tough to stay on-topic for a movie that your memory is actively attempting to repress as a trauma response, so they take some detours into anecdotes about past drug experiences, and (of course) the criminal history of one Jeffrey Jones. Does this sound like a fun time to you? We can guarantee one thing: it beats watching The Pest! The Pest (1997) is directed by Paul Miller and stars John Leguizamo, Jeffrey Jones, Edoardo Ballerini, Freddy Rodríguez, Tammy Townsend, and Aries Spears.Music: “Fractals” by Kyle Casey and White Bat Audio
EPISODE 220 – JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS “Thus far it's the best music we've had this Musical May.” Musical May continues with the not-at-all-still-relevant capitalist consumerist music industry satire Josie and the Pussycats! This week, Brian has the worst Scooby-Doo viewing experience; Ashley brings back M-ass-terpiece Theatre; Chris reveals the cruelest thing you can tell a Theodore; and Brandon is the Mr. Moviefone we have at home. BTW: All hail our new sponsor overlords! Starring: Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid, Rosario Dawson, Alan Cumming, Parker Posey, Gabriel Mann, Paulo Costanzo, Missi Pyle, Donald Faison, Seth Green, Breckin Meyer, Alex Martin, Carson Daly, Aries Spears, and Eugene Levy Directed by Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan FOLLOW US:Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/trashwatch)Instagram (@trashwatchpodcast)TikTok (@trashwatchpodcast)YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5YpPcNIBmqNvvLvxa3WTLA)Email (trashwatchpodcast@gmail.com)Listen to Brian's music at (https://www.brianhorne.com)Support the show

Episode 87 of She Said It First is peak Jerrilyn and Lynee’—equal parts chaos, comedy, and “girl, let me tell you what happened.” The ladies kick things off with a petty Olympics update: Jerrilyn’s irritated with everything (including her house making paranormal noises), and Lynee’s dragging Corey Holcomb, Aries Spears, and every “same text, different font” comedian who insists on talking slick about Black women while looking like hypertension personified. Between swollen eye canals (a new medical term?) and DMs full of mucus-sounding voice notes, the two roast these men so thoroughly they could file it under community service. From there, the episode pivots into Valentine’s Day—its messy Roman fertility-festival origins, overblown modern expectations, and the universal heartbreak of receiving absolutely nothing from someone who claims to love you. The ladies keep it hilariously honest: if your partner only performs romance on February 14th, that’s not love, that’s emotional DoorDash. And yet, in the spirit of the episode title, both hosts reflect on the joy of gifting themselves, loving themselves, and choosing partners who show up the other 364 days of the year. Because it’s Black History Month, the duo highlight Black brilliance—from Gladys West (GPS queen!) to the Super Soaker creator Lonnie Johnson—while celebrating the magic, versatility, and sheer audacity of Black womanhood. They wrap with a real talk moment about mental health in the middle of political chaos, reminding listeners that laughter is medicine, protecting your peace is essential, and sometimes the most revolutionary thing you can do is choose joy… and maybe “whoop they ass” when necessary. Classic She Said It First: funny, real, righteous, and wrapped in unapologetic Black girl energy. His quick wit, charisma and ferociously aggressive style of comedy have earned him critical acclaim, high accolades, and above all, a busy schedule. From being a regular on Fox's Mad TV, starring in feature films, appearing on a number of national talk shows, and continually touring the country where he continually sells out each and every city, Aries' talents are widespread as he just passed the 3 million spins played on Pandora and his podcast is one of the "Musts" in the US. This past summer, Aries guest starred in CNN's “See It Loud” new summer series on the history of Black Television which was one of their hit docuseries of 2023, alongside Amanda Seales, Da'Vinchi, Debbie Allen, Deon Cole, Desus & Mero, Gabrielle Union, Jimmie Walker, Judge Greg Mathis, Kevin Frazier, Loni Love, Lynn Whitfield, Mo'Nique, Naturi Naughton, Omari Hardwick, Ray J, Ruben Studdard, Sherri Shepherd, Tatyana Ali, Tiffany Pollard, Tisha Campbell, Vivica A. Fox and many more. Trailer: https://tinyurl.com/AriesCNNSeeItLoudAs a principal cast member on Fox's hit sketch comedy show Mad TV, Aries brought a fresh, hip style to the already-edgy program from the third through the tenth season. The producers made full use of many of Aries's talents by calling on him frequently to create new hilarious characters and write sketches where he thrived for eight seasons. Some of the many recurring characters that Aries is famous for on the show include: Belma Buttons, Bill Cosby, Jesse Jackson, Mike Tyson, Walter (Crackheads), Reggie (Erascist), Dollar Bill Montgomery, Shaquille O'Neal, The Klumps, Michael Jackson, Sisqo, Evander Holyfield, El Diablo Negro and more. Aries also boasts a number of uproarious impersonations on the show that include James Brown, Al Pacino, and his childhood idol Eddie Murphy. The Aries-branded sketch “Talkin' American” was Mad TV's most popular bit, keeping fans tuned in and boosting Mad's ratings impressively on Saturday night.Aries has also found great success in the world of feature films. At the age of 17, after being spotted in a comedy club, Aries landed a part in the movie Home of Angels which eventually led to a starring role alongside John Leguizamo in TriStar's The Pest followed by the notable role as Cuba Gooding, Jr.'s brother in Columbia's blockbuster hit, Jerry Maguire.Aries maintains a strong connection to his African roots and is involved in many charitable events, including a number of organizations that help abused women. He feels blessed to have been able to achieve everything that he has, but he in no way intends on stopping there. Given the extreme growing success rate of action comedies coming out of Hollywood, it's safe to say that Aries Spears will be in demand for quite some time. https://www.ariesspears.com

Aries Spears is a legendary comedian and impressionist who has been commanding the stage since the age of 14. Known for his breakout work on MAD TV and his savage crowd work, Aries has become renowned for his edgy, unfiltered takes and ability to reinvent his set with every performance. With a career spanning over 36 years, Aries draws inspiration from greats like Eddie Murphy, prides himself on quick wit and improvisational skills, and never shies away from exposing the raw realities of the comedy world. In addition to standup, he hosts the popular podcast "Spears and Steinberg," where he continues to push boundaries and spotlight real, unvarnished perspectives on entertainment and life. Takeaways: Resilience is Essential: Aries details the mental and emotional challenges of comedy, emphasizing that the business can "beat your spirit up," but staying in the game means believing in yourself, even when support from loved ones is lacking. Mastering Your Craft Means Versatility: Aries likens standup to being an all-star quarterback—you must have the material (playbook), but true greatness comes from the ability to improvise crowd work, proving you can win no matter what the audience throws at you. Legacy Is in the Eyes of the Fans: Despite feeling he hasn’t fully “arrived,” Aries acknowledges that comedians often become benchmarks for new generations, and sometimes strangers (fans) provide more validation and appreciation than family or the industry. Sound Bites: “If you’re going to be a complete comedian, you need to have all the facets of your game on point... there were no weaknesses in Mike [Michael Jordan].” “Hollywood is like an uncle that molested you but put you through college.” (quoting Chris Rock) “I never cut my comedy cocaine. I’ve always kept it 100% Bolivia Yayo... there’s nothing better than having that laugh you feel like you’re not supposed to have.” Quote by Mick: “You are to [my kids] what a Pryor and a Redd Foxx were to me… Everybody can’t go to where you and I were from a database of history and comedy. So you are that benchmark to a lot of people, bro.” Connect & Discover Aries: Website: https://ariesspears.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ariesspears/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ariesspears/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_Z6Tbjk4AesZwwGggZC7qQ FOLLOW MICK ON:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mickunplugged/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mickunplugged/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@mickunplugged LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mickhunt/Website: https://www.mickhuntofficial.com Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mick-unplugged/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Comedian Aries Spears is trending again after he went on a rant on social media about Chicago Sky’s, Angel Reese and Indiana Fever’s, Caitlin Clark.” Spears harshly compared the two players and started out his rant by saying it’s not about race. On Instagram, Spears called Angel Reese, “Hot Garbage” and in the same breath, said Caitlin Clark is “Bananas” or “the truth.” He said that maybe if Angel Reese “spent more time in the gym instead of trying to be a runway model and be cute, we wouldn’t have this problem.” Spears said we need to stop using the race card… it’s about ball… who’s good and who’s not. It was not just Spears’ message that enraged fans, it was his profanity and the disrespectful jabs he made at Reese.Steve Harvey Morning Show Online: http://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
