In this episode of The Wellness Matters Podcast, Ashley Hamilton joined me once again to record our second episode in a series. We are breaking down old programming beliefs and finding ways to replace them with new ideas.Last week's episode had to do with the school system. This week, however, we delved into the misconceptions surrounding parenting and the belief systems that have been passed down through generations. We discussed the importance of early childhood development, the challenges of discipline, and the significance of understanding emotions and communication in parenting. Ashley and I go kinda deep into the idea that just because the child is younger in years doesn't mean they don't understand our energy as adults. If we can take an extra minute to be intentional, meltdowns and arguments can be headed off.Check out this episode for an insightful conversation to heal yourself and then also your connection with any child in your life.I appreciate your support! If you feel called to support the podcast, leave a review on Spotify here or Apple here…And if you know someone who would benefit from this episode…Consider forwarding them this email.Other ways to find me:Instagram: wellness_matters_tribeFacebook: wellness mattersWebsite: wellnessmatterstribe.comMy book: The Missing Piece

Sophie and her mother take a vacation in Cuba to try and get away from the recent chaos in Miami, but as Sophie begins to exhibits powers linked to time travel it's not quite the getaway they'd hoped. Returning home to save a friend she believes is in danger puts Sophie in the middle of the action again. This book is the third volume in the incredibly fun and adventurous Scoop series. Richard talks about the evolution of the characters over the life of the series and how personal the project remains for him. Plus some talk about the move over to Maverick and the re-release of Volumes 1 and 2. There's lots to unpack in this episode so join us!
This episode of The Wellness Matters Podcast was an interesting one. I had my friend Ashley Hamilton (a proud parent of twin three-year-olds) again. We have been talking privately for a while about programming we were 'sold' surrounding parenting as well as the education system. We finally felt like it was time to take it to the podcast. We thought, that if we felt this way, there must be others who do as well. Today's episode is the first episode in a series. We covered what we believe to be parts of education that are broken and then ideas to possibly fix them. We fully realize that we are just two opinions out of the many pertaining to the education system, but if we don't start having the hard discussions then how can any real change ever happen? If you enjoy our discussion stay tuned for more in the series. We are looking to find all the holes in societal beliefs that might not be sitting well with many of you. Let us know if you agree:) I appreciate your support!
This week we debate the most niche topic to ever exist on the internet. Bachelorette Parties? Not just the parties, but whether it's RIGHT or WRONG to complain about them SO MUCH. In this episode of The Wellness Matters Podcast, Ashley Hamilton and I sat down again to review some results we uncovered from a challenge we came up with two weeks ago. We decided to experiment with being intentional with putting some new subconscious beliefs in our minds. By doing that we were/are hoping to manifest a few different things. We discussed our personal experiences with trying to implement new habits, the impact of childhood beliefs on adult behavior, and the challenges of integrating affirmations into our daily lives. The conversation also touches on the influence of social media, the concept of the Mandela Effect, and the importance of self-awareness and healing in personal growth. After the recap of our findings and the ways we plan to make adjustments, we then talked a little about my children's class that is coming up. The earlier we start to learn how to override old stories in our subconscious with new and better ones the easier our life will become. Jace welcomes writer Richard Ashley Hamilton back to the show to talk about Tectiv. Set in a post-post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, it's a book in Mad Cave's Maverick line, but it is definitely for all ages. Incredible layered storytelling offers a very entertaining read on the surface while just below are intriguing themes of self-identity, building a community and fears of what the future may hold. The main character Bingo Finder is the only literate person in her community, so when her best friend goes missing, inspired by the pulpy detective novels she has read, she throws on a Fedora and trench coat to become a Tectiv and goes in search of clues. Featuring luch art, wonderful linework and emotional character acting in the art from Marco Matrone this is a wonderful graphic novel that will make a compelling bed time read to share with young readers and foster a love of the medium. Highest possible recommendation.
In this episode of The Wellness Matters Podcast, I had Ashley Hamilton on again. We love diving deep and having real conversations... and this episode is no different. We reflect on our experiences from the past year, discuss our intentions for the upcoming year, and emphasize the importance of self-awareness, vulnerability, and connection in personal growth. The conversation explores how to transform negative patterns, embrace change, and create a supportive environment for oneself and others. We also touch on the significance of affirmations, the power of compliments, and the journey of self-discovery as we set our intentions for 2025. In this engaging conversation, Ashley and I explore the concept of pattern interruptions as a tool for managing anxiety and chaos in daily life. We discuss the importance of setting intentions for the new year, the power of speaking one's truth, and the significance of celebrating small moments in parenting. The dialogue emphasizes the difference between merely surviving and truly living, advocating for unity in humanity amidst divisive times. The conversation concludes with reflections on personal growth and self-discovery, encouraging listeners to recognize their inner strength and wisdom.I appreciate your support!
Richard Ashley Hamilton joins Jimmy on the Cryptid Creator Corner to discuss the newest graphic novel he's written: Tectiv. Richard is an award-winning Cuban-American screenwriter and author. Working with artist Marco Matrone, Tectiv tells the story of Bingo Finder, the only literate person in a far future, post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. After Bingo's friend disappears, Bingo turns to the books she loves to solve the mystery of her friend's disappearance. Part noir, part dystopian sci-fi adventure, and all beautifully rendered. Jimmy and Richard have a great conversation about the origin and influences of Tectiv, plus they chat about volumes 1 and 2 of Scoop, another great graphic novel that imagines a Veronica Mars-type as an intern at a local Miami news station to clear her father's name. Scoop volumes 1 and 2 are available now. Tectiv is out December 11th. Tectiv Maverick COMICS OVER TIME Make sure to give a listen to our friends with Comics Over Time. SummaryIn this episode of The Wellness Matters Podcast, my guest, Ashley Hamilton, and I delve into the concept of spiritual awakening, exploring its various interpretations, as well as our personal experiences. We discuss the importance of authenticity, the power of affirmations, and the challenges of navigating old beliefs and emotions. The conversation emphasizes the duality of life, the balance between fear and faith, and the significance of being present in one's journey. Ultimately, we aim to demystify spiritual awakening, presenting it as a gradual process of self-discovery and awareness. Ashley and I explore the journey of spiritual awakening, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness, vulnerability, and community. We discuss how recognizing beauty in every day life can signify a deeper connection to oneself and the world. The conversation highlights the process of decalcifying the heart chakra, allowing individuals to feel emotions more deeply and authentically. We also stress the significance of being open about one's spiritual journey and finding a supportive community to share experiences with, ultimately encouraging listeners to embrace their unique selves and seek connection with others.TakeawaysSpiritual awakening is a personal journey that varies for everyone.Authenticity involves embracing one's weirdness and being true to oneself.Affirmations can rewire negative thought patterns and promote positivity. It's normal to experience old beliefs and emotions during the spiritual journey.Fear often prevents us from experiencing joy and growth.Surrendering to faith can lead to a more fulfilling life.Life is a balance of light and dark experiences.Compassion for oneself is essential in the healing process.Spiritual awakening can be subtle and gradual, not always dramatic. Awakening begins with recognizing beauty in everyday life. The heart chakra can become calcified, blocking emotional awareness.Vulnerability is key to forming deeper connections with others.Finding community is essential for spiritual growth.Being open about your spiritual journey encourages others to do the same.Embracing your 'weirdness' can attract like-minded individuals.Spirituality is about being present and aware of your feelings. The journey of self-discovery is ongoing and requires courage.I appreciate your support! If you feel called to support the podcast, leave a review on Spotify here or Apple here…And if you know someone who would benefit from this episode…Consider forwarding them this email.Other ways to follow me:Instagram: wellness_matters_tribeFacebook: wellness mattersWebsite: wellnessmatterstribe.comMy book: The Missing Piece
Jace is joined by writer Richard Ashkley Hamilton to chat about his series at Maverick, Scoop. Set in Miami, where Richard himself spent his chlldhood, Scoop tells the story of young Sophie Cooper as she interns at a local news station in the hopes of using it's resources to clear her father's name after he is wrongly accused of a crime he did not commit. The story packs a lot in its first two volumes, including some wild Science Fiction like time travel, extraterristrials and talkign aligator men. When you add in the culture and family from Sophie's Cuban heritage, a wonderful supportign cast and even a little teen romance, you have something truly special. Two more volumes of Scoop are due in 2025, so listen in, check out the first two volumes and get caught up before the rest of the story unfolds. Richard also gives us a sneak peek of his next project coming in December 2024, Tectiv. Also starring a teenage girl trying to make the world better, but this time in a post-post-apocalyptic world.
SummaryThis week on The Wellness Matters Podcast, I had a personal conversation with a long time friend of mine, Ashley Hamilton. I thought it would be nice to have Ashely on because she recently went through a spiritual awakening. I had her ask me some beginner-type questions about spirituality because, honestly, I have been studying and living this life long enough where I sometimes forget what the beginning felt like. It was a fun and interesting way to conduct our conversation. We talked about topics like: Why people may hesitate to start their healing or spiritual journey. The difference between religion and spirituality. The shadow side of spirituality.Soul contracts.TakeawaysThe fear of judgment and the belief that one doesn't have enough time are common reasons why people hesitate to start their healing or spiritual journey.Religion and spirituality are different, with spirituality emphasizing going within and reclaiming one's power.Discernment is key in spirituality, as individuals need to determine what feels right for them and what doesn't.The spiritual journey involves shadow work and navigating the dark aspects of oneself, but it also leads to growth and transformation.Finding balance and grounding oneself are important in maintaining a healthy spiritual practice. Soul contracts involve choosing challenging life experiences for the purpose of growth and learning.During times of emotional intensity, it is important to practice grounding and self-care.Each person's spiritual journey is unique, and it is not necessary to leave behind loved ones who may not be on the same path.Introducing mindfulness practices, such as deep breathing, to children can help them regulate their emotions and develop self-awareness.Allowing each person to follow their own spiritual journey is essential, as everyone has their own unique path.I appreciate your support!

Ashley Hamilton is a landlord, multi-unit investor, reverse flipper, hard money lender, and everything else in between. You may recognize her name from episode 331, appropriately titled “10 Real Estate Deals on a $20K Waitress Salary,” which became one of the most popular BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast episodes. If you haven't heard of Ashley, here's a quick rundown: As a teen mom, Ashley was working hard daily to provide for her kids. With only a $20K/year salary, she began buying rental properties, often in cash, in the Detroit area. The last time we chatted, Ashley had ten units. But now, things are very different.Ashley knew that ten units and $7,000/month in cash flow was life-changing, but wanted to go even bigger. Since then, she's rapidly expanded her rental property empire, growing her portfolio by many multiples and expanding into other businesses like consulting and hard money lending. She's even developed her own version of the BRRRR strategy called “reverse flipping,” which makes high interest rates a non-issue when trying to refinance out of your property. She gives some killer tips on keeping tenant turnover low, why paying taxes isn't such a bad thing, and how betting on cities like Detroit can make you much wealthier. One surprising thing about Ashley is that she built the foundation of her portfolio on cash deals while making a below-poverty salary. So if you think money is the one thing stopping you from investing, Ashley will probably change your mind!In This Episode We Cover:Buying properties in cash and why leverage isn't always the best move to makeWhat to do once you've hit financial freedom and building generational wealth Going slow to build a property portfolio fast and “portfolio architecture”Reducing tenant turnover and how Ashley kept 80% of her tenants over ten years! The “reverse flip” strategy and why you should be on the lookout for PILFsInvesting even on a low salary and where cash flow can still be foundAnd So Much More!Links from the ShowBiggerPockets Youtube ChannelBiggerPockets ForumsBiggerPockets Pro MembershipBiggerPockets BookstoreBiggerPockets BootcampsBiggerPockets PodcastListen to All Your Favorite BiggerPockets Podcasts in One PlaceLearn About Real Estate, The Housing Market, and Money Management with The BiggerPockets PodcastsGet More Deals Done with The BiggerPockets Investing ToolsFind a BiggerPockets Real Estate Meetup in Your AreaDavid's BiggerPockets ProfileDavid's InstagramRob's BiggerPockets ProfileRob's YoutubeRob's InstagramRob's TikTokRob's TwitterHear Our First Interview with AshleyTenant Turnover Can Wreck Your Profits—Here's the Simple Solution to This Costly IssueBook Mentioned in the Show:Buy, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, Repeat by David GreeneConnect with Ashley:Ashley's BiggerPockets ProfileWork with Ashley Hamilton ConsultsAshley's InstagramClick here to check the full show notes: https://www.biggerpockets.com/blog/real-estate-674Interested in learning more about today's sponsors or becoming a BiggerPockets partner yourself?
