She spills the beans on how she rocked the entrepreneur life, especially as a woman facing some serious challenges. It's also a journey through the history of Anita Roddick herself. In this book, you get the lowdown on how Anita went from a regular person with a dream to a trailblazing entrepreneur. She also mixed in with the story are some seriously handy tips for wannabe entrepreneurs. Roddick dishes out advice straight from her unconventional playbook. Think of it as a guidebook for anyone wanting to start a business that's not just about money but also doing good for the planet.

"you always have choice - choose to be an agent of change in your life, to build your own castle, to devise your own methods, and to think intentionally about your legacy..."Rick and I have a fun conversation that takes us through English castles, into manufacturing and lean methodologies and circling back through our inner game as leaders in a Business as UnUsual world. What do we need to navigate this complex world and motivate our people ? What tools and approaches work for you as a leader ? how do you ensure that you remain an agent of change in creating your future ? Rick shares his insight and experience as well as the main concepts in his new book on leadership, culture and business in the post COVID world. The main insights you'll get from this episode are : - UnUsual is to be understood as the ‘new normal' post-pandemic and stems from the author's belief that everyone has the potential to be an architect of change, a catalyst in an ever-changing world.- Eclectic leadership blends various theories, styles and approaches with multiple perspectives from different industries; eclectic leaders are not bound by one model and can adapt to different strategies, demonstrate flexibility, and leverage the strengths of different types of leadership by choosing the most effective tool from a large toolbox.- The book uses a castle as a metaphor as it is a structure that everyone can imagine, but differently. The British take of ‘an Englishman's home is his castle' stands for home, safety, refuge, strong foundations, nobility, worthiness, honour, respect, legacy, community and impact.- The book talks about 8 structures within the castle: the stronghold/inner keep, which has 4 towers that support each other: the tower of purpose (values, legacy, life goals, north star); the tower of life force (how you manage your HERBS – health, energy, rest, balance and stress); the tower of mind (how you show up, habits, behaviours, kaizen); and the tower of self (self-confidence, self-efficacy, self-worth, self-motivation).- The dungeon of the castle represents coaching, which often inflicts pain to bring about growth and is about stretching and going beyond our comfort zone, being on the rack – and this requires trust.- The bailey is expandable and consists of 3 buildings: the great hall (community, culture, leadership); the stables (looking forward, searching for satisfaction, transforming); and the treasury (finances, income, net worth).- The inner keep formula is ‘the know and the go'. The know relates to self-confidence (knowing and trusting in yourself), self-efficacy (believing in your own ability to succeed) and self-worth (believing you are worthy of success and bring value to the world). The go relates to self-motivation, as motivation is the reason humans do things.- Kaizen in the tower of the mind is about lifelong learning and a growth mindset. Nothing is perfect so we must embrace never-ending improvement of ourselves and all we do - be curious, ask why and reflect to reconsider, thereby embracing an infinite mindset.- Life is about thinking well, feeling well and doing well. Life force is not in endless supply, and it requires a holistic approach to keep the different elements in balance to prevent stress. A good place to start is with tower of life force to find habits to strengthen and improve it.- The notion of pivoting in uncertain times requires ‘alternative' VUCA leadership: overcoming...

He is extremely active in the Queens, New York Community, the Queens County Bar Association, and New York State Bar Association and is frequently invited to speak at events about Elder Law. If you'd like to learn more about Elder Law, Medicaid planning, Guardianship, Special Needs Trusts, or Probate law contact the Law Office of Frank Bruno, Jr. today at 718-418-5000. Thank you for listening! Eldercare law is really an umbrella term encompassing multiple areas of law. Some elder care attorneys handle subjects that most people know something about, such as probate, guardianship, estate planning. Other eldercare lawyers focus their practice on other areas of law such as special needs planning, VA benefits planning, and Medicaid planning. So, what is Medicaid planning? Medicaid planning is a way to protect people's assets from the threat of long-term care expenses. Many clients are between 65 and 95, own their own homes, and have between $25,000 and $750,000 worth of assets in addition to the house. What many people don't realize is exactly how expensive long term care expenses can be – In 2020 the average costs of a skilled nursing facility, in New York is $14,250.00 per month. Someone can be solidly middle class or upper-middle class, have saved their whole life, and think that they'll have plenty of money for whatever happens only to suffer a stroke, major heart attack or get an Alzheimer's or Parkinson's diagnosis and need help with their activities of daily living. If they have this six-figure per year care expense, many people spend everything. Medicare does not pay skilled nursing home expenses after 100 days. An elder care attorney, who handles Medicaid planning, is able to legally and ethically protect people's assets to get them qualified for Medicaid. Medicaid, unlike Medicare, has excellent long-term care benefits. This helps them supplement their lifestyle with their own assets (to improve the quality of their life while alive) and make it more likely that they will have something to pass onto their heirs after they pass away. There are many myths and much misinformation surrounding long-term care Medicaid in New York. To learn more please visit... https://www.frankbrunolaw.com
In 1976 a British business woman started a small business to sell skin and hair care products. But she also wanted it to reflect her ethics and values, including human rights, animal rights, and the environment. Anita Roddick called her business The Body Shop. Today The Body Shop has over 3,000 stores in 65 countries. But it is still loyal to Anita Roddick's ethics and values. In 2001 Roddick wrote a book called Business As Unusual, a look back at the sometimes-turbulent ‘90s for The Body Shop.

ClimateBiz Host Shari Friedman caught up to him to discuss how the Spanish company is attempting to "look around the corner" in order to build capacity not only for today, but for the economy of the future.

In this podcast with featured guest Salim Ismail, we examine the longer-term effects of the pandemic on the workplace, government, race relations, education, and lifestyle as we know it. “Most of us show up on life's playing field unprepared to play full out to win. We neither understand the game, the opponent, the rules, nor the equipment that helps us play and win. No wonder we walk as if on eggshells with other people. We are lonely. It doesn't have to be that way. We've learned much in recent years about how our mind works and there is no doubt that we can follow our heart's longing and live our lives with clarity, focus, ease and grace. And yes, we need to see with new eyes, and listen with new ears. And that is something that can be taught, should be taught, and is not yet routinely taught.” ~ says Ingrid Martine Valeria interviews Ingrid about her book: The Un-Game: Four-Play to Business As Unusual and other thoughts in between. Ingrid Martine is the sole practitioner of Ingrid Martine Life Coaching, who now focuses exclusively on coaching people who don't quite recognize yet how extraordinarily capable they are to answer with YES the question “Couldn't life be easier, more enjoyable, and more meaningful for me?” Former CEO of Your Leaders' Edge Coaching, Consulting, and Training, a firm specializing in transforming resistance to change, Ingrid is also a certified executive, team, and life coach. Her former clients represent numerous industries: pharmaceutical, software development, public utility providers, insurance, ICF coaches, and the US Army. Ingrid is passionate about ‘how people change', Ingrid has authored a book featuring an adult learning and coaching model in easy-to-digest story form for producing sustainable change—The Un-Game: Four-Play to Business As Unusual. While The UN-Game features a fictional business environment in which sustainable change is the goal, Ingrid is quick to say the book could just as easily be The UN-Game for Teachers, Parents, Lovers, Students . The timeless principles serve anyone willing to produce meaningful change in her or his life. In fact, both Ingrid and her clients thrive with the personal connection they create with 'unlearning' behaviors which block our clarity, focus, and ease in moving step by small, sweet step toward the life we long to live. With her straightforward, pragmatic, yet caring approach Ingrid encourages and supports shifts in thinking to achieve breakthroughs with the modalities she has mastered over her long career. Engaging in courageous conversations, conflict averting not avoiding, developing emotional and social intelligence skills, dealing with “difficult” people, understanding resistance to change, developing cross-cultural awareness and competence are some of them. Tangible results from those skills are a cross-cultural awareness program for students in Howard County, Maryland which Ingrid created and managed. As a volunteer leader she brought a symposium on deep change, now taught world-wide, to Texas and has trained others to lead it in three states. However, her greatest satisfaction is being with clients who are more and more comfortable in their own skin becoming “unself-conscious” as they claim and trust their voice of wisdom.
