Today, I have the pleasure of having Cailtin Escobar, a certified Conscious Parent Coach, Positive Discipline Educator, and founder of Raising Parents Coaching on The Heartful Parent Podcast. Caitilin is dedicated to partnering with parents to find more joy and purpose in their parenting role through teaching researched-based parenting workshops and coaching in ways that empower and support parents with today's complex world. In this episode, Caitlin explains that when it comes to how we are as parents, Conscious Parenting is the WHY and Positive Discipline is the HOW. Caitlin and I get the chance to dig into how the approaches of Conscious Parenting and Positive Discipline go hand-in-hand. Caitlin touches on how these approaches can strengthen the relationships and truly make and repair connections with our kids. Conscious parenting is going to help us understand our reactions and our triggers. And the best part is that Caitlin describes how to really apply these approaches in the moment, through the ups and downs of a day, and how to connect with ourselves in that moment too. Caitlin shares a multi-step strategy to work through your internal triggers ––since Conscious Parenting is highly focused on healing our parental reactivity, which then allows us to access our Positive Discipline tools more easily.. She gives details on each of these five steps: Step 1: Think of a new (realistic) response Step 2: Visualize the triggering event Step 3: Notice your trigger response & let it take over (within your visualization) Step 4: Acknowledge, validate, and appreciate the response Step 5: Practice your new response Find Caitlin on Instagram: @rasingparentscoaching and sign up for Caitlin's monthly newsletter and download her free reparenting worksheet on her website: raisingparentscoaches.com To learn more about The Heartful Parent Academy and all that the support I can offer through The Heartful Parent Collective, visit my website: theheartfulparent.com.

Where we're going, we don't need rads… This week Kyle, Matthew and Natalie sit down with comedian Caitlin Durante (The Bechdel Cast) to talk about her favorite movie thrillogy: Back to the Future! But first, in traditional "This Is Rad!" fashion, they talk about Titanic for a while and discuss the ill-fated movie Titanic 2, which shockingly does exist. They unpack what makes Back to the Future so great, why Michael J. Fox is a national treasure, and why Crispin Glover is so dang weird. Natalie is obsessed with the Eric Stoltz movie that never was, Kyle defends Back to the Future 2, Caitilin unpacks the "Briff Conundrum," and yes, Part 3 is... addressed. So fire up your flux capacitors, accelerate to 88 miles per hour and travel BACK! IN! TIME! This episode is sponsored by Loot Crate. Give yourself a geeky gift this month! The Flash really stepped up their game this week, with a great Caitilin storyline building to some exciting things, and a terrific Wally/Alchemy story that led us to SAVITAR! (?!?) Despite Shade himself being a very weak plot-device villain, this episode had a lot of great stuff going for it. Here are some thoughts from co-host Joe: Read more... What do you think the difference is between self awareness, understanding and acceptance? Today I answer a letter from my editor Caitilin regarding my soon to released book about how to be happy. ..Here is the letter...Hi Lauren, I hope you are well and had a good weekend. Today's homework questions are about the subtleties of self awareness, self understanding and self acceptance. Do you see these as being the same or are they different? How would you define each one? How do they relate to one another (e.g. does one need to be present before another can develop?) Is there a hierarchy here, where each one builds on the one that comes before it? If so, what are the connections between each? Episode 51 What is the difference between Self awareness, self understanding & self acceptance? And how can this help make us happy? The reason I am asking is that each of these terms is used in your book and I want to be sure I understand the way in which you are using them and the way they relate to one another. Have a think and let me know. Thanks, Hmmm I thought about this for days and here is my answer... My name is Lauren Ostrowski Fenton.
