Keith David is a classically trained actor, winning 3 Emmys out of 6 nominations as well as being nominated for a Tony award. He starred in the recently concluded TV series "Greenleaf" for Oprah Winfrey's OWN network. Upcoming films include "Horizon Line" with Allison Williams ("Get Out") and "Black As Night," for Amazon. In "Greenleaf" Keith portrayed 'Bishop James Greenleaf', the charismatic and God-fearing leader of the Calvary Fellowship and the patriarch of the family. The series followed the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family, their scandalous secrets and lies, and their sprawling Memphis megachurch. The series was praised for its push and pull dynamic, its hypocrisy, and its compelling characters. Keith's stellar performance was best stated by The Hollywood Reporter, "... Keith David ...is perfectly cast as Bishop Greenleaf. Whether he's playing to the congregation at the altar or getting conspiratorial in a smaller venue, this is an unusually great and meaty role for David." On the big screen, Keith co-starred with Chadwick Boseman in "21 Bridges". Prior credits include "Night School" with Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish and "Tales from the Hood 2". Additional titles include the Academy award-winning films "Crash" and "Platoon." He is widely recognized for appearing in the highly-acclaimed films Disney's "The Princess and the Frog", "Requiem for a Dream", "Men at Work", "They Live", "There's Something About Mary", and "The Thing." Other recent TV credits include an upcoming appearance on "Creepshow," "NCIS: New Orleans", "Blackish," MacGyver", and "Fresh Off the Boat". Earlier credits include "Community", "Enlisted", "ER", and "Mister Roger's Neighborhood". On Broadway, Keith starred in August Wilson's "Seven Guitars" and "Jelly's Last Jam" for which he garnered a Tony Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical. Keith's work as a voice actor has made him a household name. His rich and powerful voice has been featured in national commercials, award shows, documentaries, video games, and animation. His work in narration has earned him three Emmys for Ken Burns' "Jackie Robinson", "The War", and "Unforgivable Blackness - The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson". Some of his other voice acting credits include countless fan favorites such as "Adventure Time", "Bojack Horseman," "Rick & Morty", "Spawn", and "Gargoyles". Keith has lent his voice to many video game titles. Recently he portrayed the character "Spawn" in the reboot of the "Mortal Kombat" video game. Other appearances include the "Halo" series (games 2, 3, and 5), the "Saint's Row" series (games 1, 2, and 4), as well as the "Mass Effect" series (games 1,2, and 3). Born and raised in New York by his parents Lester and Dolores, Keith became interested in the arts at a very young age. After appearing in his school's production of "The Wizard of Oz", he knew this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He enrolled in New York's High School of the Performing Arts and continued his studies at The Juilliard School. After graduation, he was immediately hired by Joseph Papp as an understudy for the role of Tullus Aufidius in William Shakespeare's "Coriolanus." His work with Mr. Papp and the New York Shakespeare Festival launched his incredible career. In addition to his versatile acting and voiceover work, Keith is also a remarkable singer. Martin Luther said, "We need to hear the gospel everyday, because we forget it everyday." The Galatians were Christians who had lost their grip on the gospel. They had begun to look to their own moral performance for their sense of right standing with God, leading Paul to write them a fierce and scathing letter. In this opening message on the book of Galatians, Dale King, pastor of Calvary Fellowship, speaks to how the Galatians had drifted from the gospel—and why it's so easy for us to do the same.

The celebration and commemoration of Christ's Resurrection continue, and what better season for one congregation to celebrate the “resurrection” of a church? Rusty Henley, who's been a pastor for 55 years, invites area residents to join him this Saturday, May 6, at 7727 Dove Drive — basically at the corner of U.S. 181 and Loop 1604 north of Floresville — as Calvary Fellowship rises from the rubble. “The building was falling down,” Rusty told the Wilson County News. Several people, including his aunt, who lives less than two blocks away from the site, tried to buy it to restore, but...Article Link
God calls us to live as citizens of Heaven in exile here on Earth. Living in two worlds isn't easy, but God gives us clear instruction on how we can this in a way that honors God and transforms our community.
Here at Calvary Fellowship, we're all about living in unified community; through love and openness; as a family in Christ. If you call Calvary Fellowship your home church (or even if you're not sure, but interested), listen to this, as we're so excited to talk about the details of what's going on, things to come, and all of the awesome things that the Lord is doing around here.

In this Bible Study from Pastor Steve at Calvary Fellowship on Sunday Morning, we returned to the verse by verse study of the Gospel of John. This week we looked at the story of Raising Lazarus from the dead. So often we get caught up in the miracle that we miss the purpose of the miracle. Pastor Steve reminded us that it is not enough to just believe in the miracles and person of Christ but we need to act on that belief with our will. All believed including the demons but only a few acted upon it and gave all glory to God. The question of the day was not 'do you believe?' but 'will you believe?' #Lazarus #raisingLazarusfromthedead #John11 #CalvaryFellowship #doyoubelieve? #willyoubelieve? #BibleStudy
In this Bible Study from Calvary Fellowship in Ottawa on Sunday morning, Pastor Andy Falleur read John 10, where Jesus is once again, trying to help the Jews “see” that He is not only the Messiah, but God come in the flesh. He uses the provocative illustration of how He's the good shepherd, and also the gate for the sheep. He once again, asserts clearly his divinity, and they pick up stones to stone him for blasphemy. There's all sorts of wonderful truths in that passage, and we ended by being encouraged by the reality of what it means that He's our shepherd.
In this Sunday morning Bible Study at Calvary Fellowship of Ottawa, guest teacher Gary Van Donkersgoed has a topical study on "The Rewards Offered To Followers Of Jesus". The study follows the word "Crown" in the New Testament, which is consistently applied as something promised to Christians. This is not something tied to salvation or faith in general but highlights some specific things that the New Testament authors seem to be aware of. Paul, Peter, James and John all mention Crowns with a focus on things very dear to God's Heart. They relate to actions, attitudes, responses, that seem to be very characteristic of Jesus's life and of the life that honours God. The four rewards (or crowns) are not for bragging rights, but showcase important things to daily bear in mind. They include 1. A reward for good control of our body (it was bought with a price, so it is not my own to only make my own choices). 2. For sharing the good news with others, and helping their faith to grow 3. For humble Church leadership that is exemplary to their local Church and 4. For persevering through deep and real-life trials, remembering that Jesus is coming back and you can hardly wait
In this Bible Study from a Sunday morning at Calvary Fellowship of Ottawa, Pastor Andy Falleur reads from John 8:12-59, where Jesus is in a heated discussion with the Pharisees and Jews in Jerusalem about his origins. It's a conversation that Jesus wants to have, and they are asking questions that he wants them to ask. He's trying to get them to think and to consider not only who He is, but also trying to shake them from their self-delusion. We can often end up in the same place. Sometimes, we are so familiar with our religion and way of life and we haven't truly encountered the magnitude of Jesus's words and mission. He is the light of the world. John 8:1-11 - "I See You" In this Bible Study at Calvary Fellowship of Ottawa on Sunday morning, Pastor Steve Weir read to us from John 7:53-8:11. He began with talking about textual criticism, breaking it down into three simple steps: location (where were the scriptural fragments found?), timing (what is the date of the fragments found), and numbers (the more that say the same thing the better). In fifteen minutes he summarized why John 7:53-8:11 should be in the Bible, and why the Bible can be trusted as the authoritative Word of God. He then went on to walk step by step through the text, drawing out the value Jesus placed on women, and His complete knowledge of the Law. The Bible study was loaded, but it was a great reminder that Jesus sees us, and extends grace to us no matter who we are, or what our situation may be. In this Bible Study on Sunday morning at Calvary Fellowship of Ottawa, Pastor Andy Falleur reads from John 7. This is an interesting passage as it shows how Jesus planned the timing and the method of going public to the Jewish people during the Festival of Shelters. Here we see an example of the intersection between Gods' sovereignty and human agency, along with the character and manner of God as expressed in Jesus.
John 6:22-71 “Unless You Eat My Flesh and Drink My Blood” In this Bible Study from Sunday morning at Calvary Fellowship of Ottawa, Pastor Andy Falleur reads to us for a third time this conversation between Jesus and the crowd of 5k that He had miraculously fed the day before. They had wanted to make him king by force and he had retreated from them. This is their conversation, where Jesus seemingly, intentionally makes really jarring statements about the Father and himself. The climax of the conversation is where He states that they must eat his flesh and drink his blood to have life. He goes on to say that His flesh is true food and his blood is true drink. How should we understand this? And, how does it apply to our lives today? Should we understand it the way that countless Christians over the centuries have understood it, as being the bread and wine in Communion? If we don't understand it that way, what way should we receive His words? The resource quoted is “Eerdman's Handbook to the History of Christianity” published in 1977. John 6:22-71 “The Father Gives, Draws and Grants” In our Bible Study this Sunday at Calvary Fellowship, Pastor Andy Falleur read John 6:22-71 and this time, we looked at the statements that Jesus makes about the Father giving, drawing and granting people to the Son. Many times, they have been understood from the view of individual election, or predestination, but that might not be the best way to understand them from the context. This was more of a technical Bible Study, but, hopefully beneficial to everyone. At one point, Pastor Andy couldn't find a cross-reference. The one he was looking for was: John 20:29 - Jesus said, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Call Me, Peter! In our Sunday Bible Study at Calvary Fellowship, we had a special visit from Saint Peter as Pastor Steve Weir provided for us a dramatic presentation of the Gospel through the eyes of Simon Peter. We were able to experience the joys and disappointments of the life of Peter as he followed Jesus, denied Him and ultimately was restored by Him. It was a clear reminder that as followers of Jesus today we need to keep our eyes on Him and not on the storms and regrets of life. This is a recording from the courtyard at Calvary, so there may be interesting additional sounds as it's an outdoor event. John 6:1-21 “Jesus is Majestic” In our Sunday Bible Study at Calvary Fellowship, Pastor Andy Falleur read from John 6:1-21, the familiar stories of Jesus feeding the five thousand and then immediately afterwards walking on water. The historicity of these events are solid, and it was good to take a fresh look at them, especially in the way that John tells the story, and especially in light of all that's going on in the world around us today. In the study, we did take some time to examine some of the layers of meaning that John is alluding to in the details that he includes. This is a recording from the courtyard at Calvary, so there may be interesting additional sounds as it's an outdoor event. In our Bible Study this Sunday at Calvary Fellowship, Pastor Andy Falleur read to us from John 5:31-47, where we once again returned to Jesus's Monologue to the Jewish Leaders. In reading the whole monologue, Jesus makes 4 claims to divinity, and then discusses the testimony, the proof, the evidence that his claims to divinity are valid. In the closing portion of the monologue, Jesus switch's from defense to offense and shows how his accusers, the Jewish leaders were the ones that were illegitimate, and in fact posers, pretenders. This was also our first outdoor church gathering in the courtyard in front of our entrance. This allowed us to gather a greater number of people under the current pandemic restrictions. It was a gorgeous day. The audio is interesting from this day, because there is no sound amplification, just the natural voice. John5:17-47 - Jesus Can't be Cancelled In our Bible Study at Calvary Fellowship of Ottawa, Andy Falleur continued in John 5, where Jesus makes by his count, four claims to divinity. He says to the Jewish leaders not only that He is the Messiah, but that He is equal to God. We spent our time looking at those claims and what Jesus is saying and what that means to them and to us. In the the next episode, we will look at the evidence He provides to prove His claim, and then how Jesus will expose who they actually are. John 5:1-16 “Pickup Your Mat” Our Bible Study this Sunday at Calvary Fellowship of Ottawa was from John 5:1-16, where Jesus heals a disabled man at the pool of Bethesda. We took a few minutes to talk about the manuscript variation there, and then saw the connection through contrast with the healing of the official's son at the end of John 4. Beyond this, we briefly touched on one of the layers that John the Beloved might be alluding to in the way that he relays this event in the life of Jesus. In all of this, it's clear that Jesus word has power to bring us to wellness that the Law will never had. We closed by looking at disability and suffering as a Christian. Ephesians 1 - Trinity - Who is God In this Bible study at Calvary Fellowship in Ottawa, Kristian Landry takes us through a Bible study on the Holy Trinity. The Trinity is hinted at in the OT, but revealed in the Incarnation of the Son and outpouring of the Spirit. Christians have disagreed on many things, but we all agree on this. In the one being of God, there are three divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Spirit. The simplest way to begin thinking of the Trinity is actually to think of the gospel. God is love. Love gives. The Father gives us His Son. The Son gives us His life. Together, Father and Son give us the Holy Spirit. And the fruit of the Spirit is love. We love the Father, experience the grace of Christ and the comfort of the Holy Spirit. John 3:22 - 4:3 - Disputes Among Disciples In this Bible study of John's gospel at Calvary Fellowship in Ottawa, Pastor Andy Falleur reads the passage and then shows some of the allusions that the Apostle John makes in the way that he writes about Jesus and John the Baptist. The main and plain of the passage though is regarding a dispute among the various disciples, and in that John the Baptist makes a remarkably helpful set of statements about who Jesus is, and then what his role, his place and his joy is. ----- #Bible Study, #Bible, #Study, #Calvary Chapel, #Calvary Ottawa, #Calvary chapel Ottawa, #Calvary bible Study, #Calvary Chapel Bible Study, #Calvary Chapel study, #Andy Falleur, #Gospel of John Bible Study, #John's Gospel, #John 3 Bible Study, #John 3:30 #St. John 3 Bible Study, #John the beloved, #gospel of john chapter 3, #John 3, #John 3:27 bible Study, #John 3:30 Bible Study #St. John 3 Bible Study, #gospel of john chapter 3,, #jesus and John the Baptist, #he must increase i must decrease, #no one can receive anything except, #hyperlinked bible, #psychological health, #emotionally healthy,
John 2:13-22 His Disciples Remembered In this Bible Study from the Sunday morning gathering at Calvary Fellowship of Ottawa we read from John 2:13-22 where John the Apostle tells us what happened when Jesus cleansed the temple. The main point being proven is that Jesus is God, but the way John the Apostle shows that is interesting and indirect.
