In this episode we try our damnedest to avoid the golden path. But no matter how much emo teenage pouting we do it still all ends up in genocide and our kid turning into an immortal homicidal worm. That's right, it's Frank Herbert's seminal epic Dune. We will once again look for Satan in Science Fiction through the lens of the Christ Myth. The idea of a chosen one, a demi god, not exactly god but more than human with supernatural powers coming to rescue us all from evil. Jackie Chan is back in Hollywood (against his better judgment) and is joining a cavalcade of stars including Burt Reynolds, Dom Deluise, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Marilu Henner, Shirley MaClaine and MANY MORE - including ol' blue eyes himself Frank Sinatra - in the cross-country race (?) comedy (?) CANNONBALL RUN II which brings back all the things you know and love(?) about the first film, and.. well, that's just about it. It's pretty much the same thing. Except there's an orangutan this time, and Jackie has been teamed up with Richard Kiel just to make sure we all know he's extra small and (once again) bafflingly Japanese. Listen to Liam's blood pressure rise in REAL TIME as he describes his time with the film. ENJOY! On this episode Phillip flies solo, (get it..because of Passenger 57?) Chip took a break this week and will be back next week. Phillip starts the show off by making some corrections, and talks a little bit about The Cannonball Run II and Speed Zone. He then talks about what he has been up to lately. Then he reads some listener opinions from Instagram about their thoughts on this movie. He then dives deep into the Wesley Snipes action thriller Passenger 57, by talking about some facts about the movie. He then ends the show with Phil's Film Favorite of the Week; Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021). It's a fun show. (Passenger 57 can be found on Showtime or any streaming service for rent or purchase.) Phillip and Chip will be back on December 15th for Die Hard On A... Pt. 2: Cliffhanger (1993).

This week we are discussing "Cannonball Run II", which is our most star-studded movie yet and we have our Munchie expert Nick sitting in to help us break it down. We discuss ladies driving, Doug missing the nuns' actual role in the movie, Frank Sinatra playing Frank Sinatra, Captain Chaos, the Bond references, and lots more. This is our 1st in-studio review in over 20 months and it felt great, but unfortunately no video this week. Next week is an early start to our 3rd Annual "Scary Sequel Month"! So get ready for a month filled with 4 amazing reviews and 5 awesome interviews. The next sequel we are reviewing is “Hellraiser: Inferno" which critics say is barely a Hellraiser movie, but the cast is pretty good and we have 2 interviews for this one. 1st up is Actress Patricia Kara who plays a Cenobite in it and she was the model on case #9 on "Deal or No Deal". Patricia was great and was a lot of fun. Then I chatted with Actress and Entrepreneur Rachel Currance who had a small role in the sequel but was great to chat with. Rachel was on a few different Disney shows and completed a series last year called "Siblings" that is being shopped around. So get ready for a kick-ass month. The next sequel we are reviewing is "Cannonball Run II" and this week we are talking with comedian, writer, director, and son of legendary comedian Buddy Hackett, Sandy Hackett. Sandy talked about growing up in New Jersey (until he preferred California), working in the hotel industry which led to comedy, touring with his dad, getting into acting, his Rat Pack Show, and so much more. Also Sandy does a FLAWLESS impression of his dad. Great chat. This is our first in-studio review since before the pandemic started and it was a blast. Our resident Munchie expert joined us because of Dom Deluise was in it. This week we are discussing "Robocop 3", which is the polar opposite of the first 2 films. This movie is very tame because of its cartoon and toyline that was targeting kids, so this movie barely had any blood, but it was still fun to discuss. We had a friend of the show Jerry Lou stop by with his Robocop expertise to break it all down. We discussed the odd plot, Roboninjas, the cast full of familiar faces, Rip Torn being Rip Torn, and lots more. This a video review that you can watch at sequelsonly.com/Robocop3 The next sequel we are reviewing is “Cannonball Run II" which has Burt Reynolds, Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra, the voice of "Munchie" Dom Deluise, plus many more, and a cameo by next week's guest Sandy Hackett, son of comedic legend Buddy Hackett. Sandy talked about growing up with a legendary comedian as his dad, his video short called "My Buddy!" bout his father, his Rat Pack show, his acting career, comedy, and lots more. Sandy does a flawless impression of his dad and it was a blast. What makes you special? It isn’t what you think. What happened to Joe Theismann is not what Joe Theismann will tell you happened to him. His take on the day that ended his career as an elite NFL quarterback has made a huge difference on how his life turned out. Theismann’s football career ended on November 18, 1985 when he suffered a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in his right leg while being sacked by linebackers Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson of the New York Giants during Monday Night Football. But a gruesome injury and the end of his days on the gridiron were not the end of his life. “Snap your fingers,” he says. “That’s how fast your life can change.” But you shouldn’t let it define you. The road from injury opened the door to Theismann becoming an ESPN sportscaster, motivational speaker, restaurateur and actor. “These days people no longer associate me with a broken leg. They recognize me from the Hallmark movie, ‘Love on the Sidelines.’” As an actor, Theismann has appeared in Cannonball Run II and The Man with Bogart’s Face. He went on to play himself in the TV series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Necessary Roughness.” He also starred in the TV movie “The Man from Left Field,” and in the Hallmark Original “Love on the Sidelines.” And as an author, in his latest book, “How to Be a Champion Every Day,” Theismann recounts stories from his impressive career, providing an inspirational guide for how to succeed on a team, in your career, and in your everyday life. #UnstoppablePodcasts

The Oscar awards telecast left out the magnificent Tim Conway from their “In Memoriam” segment, so we try to right the wrong by dedicating an entire episode to the wonderful, comedic film career of Mr. Tim Conway (1933 - 2019). We talk about THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG, THE PRIVATE EYES, CANNONBALL RUN II and the rest of his entire filmography. It’s more fun than a pair of Siamese elephants!

This week, the gang takes a look at a movie with a GIGANTIC cast of the biggest stars from the 1980's... including the Rat Pack!
When you really need to make a sequel to the worst sequel ever made (Cannonball Run II) you better not call it Cannonball Run III. Instead call it Cannonball Fever (where you legally can), get the folks from SCTV and let Jamie Farr make an appearance. Add fast cars and hijinks. Shake and then serve. The primary reason you want to come into this film is for the fast cars and ridiculous shenanigans when you mix cars and comedy. Well, this one delivers that in spades. From the very get go there are banana-stunts with cars all set to a comedic backdrop. See a Countach skip across a lake, see a BMW 5 series jump 30 feet, see a Jaguar XJS fly - really, really fly. We'll save the most insane stunt for the viewers at home but it involves a commercial airliner. While there are some serious duds for jokes here and there, there is legitimately good comedy here. The SCTV folks knew how to script a great joke about society and morals. You can see the difference between the chauvinism and grab ass comedy of the Burt Reynolds/Dom Deluise vision of the Great Gumball Rally to the mild, awkward comedy of John Candy and Eugene Levy. Speed Zone is a true gem of using a tight budget and spending it very wisely. This seems like they had $10 million to spend but in reality it was closer to $1 million. A great cast, lots of cameos, ridiculous stunts and laugh after laugh makes the illegitimate child of the Cannonball Run franchise a great view. Do it!
If there were ever a perfect episode of the Dukes, it's this one. Texas Ranger "Jude Emery" comes to Hazzard to track the leader of an illegal race car driving gang and (shockingly) recruits Bo and Luke to help him both find and apprehend the afore mentioned bad guy. Jude is super cool, travels with a suitcase that doubles as a guitar, and woos Daisy with his George Strait like charm. In return she wears hot pants and ends up saving he, Bo, Luke, and the rest of humanity in the process. Hijinks ensue. (FYI - Daisy is not wearing the uber-tight outfit in this episode that she used in Cannonball Run II. We checked.) The post K&F Show #30: Jude Emery – S2 Episode 19 of The Dukes of Hazzard! first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.
