We unpack the incredible comedic timing and performances of the massive ensemble cast, featuring Anna Faris (The House Bunny, Mom) returning as the delightfully oblivious Cindy Campbell, Regina Hall (Girls Trip, The Hate U Give) as the absolutely chaotic Brenda Meeks, and Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men, Platoon) playing Tom Logan. We also break down the unforgettable appearances from major stars and comedy icons, including Simon Rex (Red Rocket, Dirt) as George Logan, Anthony Anderson (Black-ish, Hustle & Flow) as Mahalik, Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Central Intelligence) as CJ, Leslie Nielsen (The Naked Gun, Airplane!) delivering pure legendary status as President Harris, and Marni Eng as Tabitha, the iconic parody version of Samara Morgan from The Ring. We break down the incredible performances from the stellar cast, including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Fast & Furious, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) as the sweet, unicorn-loving, hyper-lethal CIA operative Bob Stone / Robbie Weird, and Kevin Hart (Ride Along, Night School) as the formerly peak-popular high school athlete turned ordinary accountant Calvin "The Golden Jet" Joyner. We also highlight the brilliant cameo appearances and supporting players, featuring Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, Need for Speed) as Bob's rogue ex-partner Phil, Amy Ryan (The Office, Gone Baby Gone) as the stern CIA Agent Harris, Jason Bateman (Ozark, Arrested Development) as the cruel adult bully Trevor Olsen, and Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Spy) as high school sweetheart Darla McGuckian. Our hosts react to all the memorable gags, ridiculous physical comedy beats, and surprisingly heartfelt elements that make this movie stand the test of time. We break down the painful 1996 high school gym flashback sequence, the explosive bar fight where Bob goes full Jason Bourne in jean shorts, and the hilarious corporate office escape involving an improv hostage situation with a banana. We also break down the chaotic underground parking garage standoff featuring an accidental British rooster bird call, the meta elevator flashback sequences, and the wild high school reunion climax where Bob finally conquers his past bullies. From the legendary end-credits blooper reel that had us reminiscing about Rush Hour 2 to the fantastic on-screen chemistry, this movie gives us a blast of nostalgic entertainment to unpack. So much of what is happening these days seems utterly nonsensical, from Trump’s war crime and profanity-laced Easter rant, to the whipsaw on Iran. So, is it simply Occam’s razor, or is there more going on here than we’re led to believe? Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it. — President Woodrow Wilson, The New Freedom: A Call for the Emancipation of the Generous Energies of a People (1913) The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the larger centers has owned the Government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson — and I am not wholly excepting the Administration of W. W. The country is going through a repetition of Jackson’s fight with the Bank of the United States — only on a far bigger and broader basis. — President Franklin D. Roosevelt, letter to Col. Edward Mandell House (21 November 1933); as quoted in F.D.R.: His Personal Letters, 1928-1945, edited by Elliott Roosevelt (New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, 1950), pg. 373 I would suggest nothing we’re seeing, including (especially) the seemingly nonsensical, is ‘accidental’ or coincidental. It is PSYOP/PSWAR, a potent toxic mixture of POSIWID and chaos theory designed and intended to rapidly produce maximum chaos resulting in a ‘Clash of Civilizations‘ and The End of History and the Last Man, to ultimately bring about a ‘Novus Ordo Seclorum’1234 a la Genesis 11 → Genesis 6 → culminating in Psalm 2 → Revelation 19. Needless to say, this is not what Washington, Madison, Adams, Jefferson, and Franklin had in mind when they founded the US Constitutional Republic. Members of the US government—as well as We the People—should think about the reflections of multiple Roman authors who regarded the total annihilation of Carthage as an outrage and repudiation of Rome's republican values and virtues. In the Aeneid, Virgil frames the Punic Wars as a fateful conflict initiated by the Punic Queen Dido’s curse on Aeneas’s descendants. I interpret this as Virgil's way of condemning the “unspeakable” destruction of Carthage. The American people should be aware of the fact that if our US government does indeed annihilate the Iranian nation forever, it will certainly have a vast array of terrible consequences for us and for all of mankind. Among other disasters, it is likely that millions of Iranians will be forced to flee to other lands, including those of Europe. Many young men who see their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters suffer will be animated with a burning desire for revenge. I anticipate great horrors ahead for all of us. Ipswich, April 7. Last Saturday Samuel Partridge was executed here, for robbing Mr. Barwell of Brockley in this City, of 31l, 10s., a Horse, and other Things, in Company with another Person not yet taken. He said he was born at Debden in Suffolk, that he was about 22 years of Age, and was brought up in Husbandry; he appeared to be very illiterate, for he could neither read nor write, and was entirely ignorant of the first Principles of Christianity. He denied the Fact for which he suffered, and said he was perswaded to own the Robbery by a Soldier that was in Halsted Bridewell with him, he telling him, that if he confessed the Fact he would come off very well; and that he advised him to say, that he had made use of a Bolt instead of a Pistol, and that he had hid it in a certain Place, where it was found according to his Direction. At the Place of Execution he seemed very stupid and unconcern'd; only, as directed, he called on God for Mercy when he was turned off. The Munsons are joined by guest Munson Krystal Clark to shine a light on one of the most quietly impressive performers working today: Amy Ryan. From a stage career boasting three Tony nominations to a film and television résumé filled with range, Ryan has built a career that somehow flies under the radar while consistently delivering memorable performances. We dig into her standout role in The Wire, which finally settles a long-running agreement between Aubrey and James—and yes, it means Aubrey will inevitably have to watch The Sopranos. From there, we explore how Ryan has become synonymous with memorable characters across some of the greatest television shows ever made, while also noticing a surprising trend: she's appeared in a lot of projects centered around the trauma of children. Coincidence? The Munsons investigate. We absolutely gush over her Oscar-nominated performance in Gone Baby Gone and question how she didn't take home the Academy Award. Her heartfelt turn as Holly on The Office gets its flowers for making audiences forgive the impossible—Michael Scott leaving the show—while we also highlight her sneaky comedic chops in films like Central Intelligence. Along the way, we try to unpack the “why” behind her eclectic role choices and wonder how someone this consistently great isn't more widely known by general audiences. How does she rank on the Munson Meter? Listen to find out. The blog postDwayne “The Rock” Johnson once joked that his incredible physical transformation came from one simple routine: working out six hours a day, every day, for twenty years. In this episode, Mark explores why that line from Central Intelligence mirrors how organizations misunderstand Lean. Many admire the “after” picture of Toyota, ThedaCare, or Franciscan St. Francis Health, but far fewer commit to the steady, everyday habits that make those results possible. This short reflection looks at the gap between wanting improvement and practicing it, the risks of “instant pudding” thinking, and what real diligence looks like in organizations that sustain progress year after year. Continuous improvement doesn't require six hours a day—but it does require showing up, consistently, over time.

Charlotte Dennett is an attorney, best-selling author, a former reporter in the Middle East, and investigative journalist who has been described by Time Magazine as “an expert in resource-based politics.” As the daughter of Daniel Dennett -- America's first master spy in the Middle East -- Charlotte has been offering a different perspective on the wars raging in Israel and Gaza based on decades of research into the mysterious death of her father after his top secret mission to Saudi Arabia. Daniel Dennett was the head of counter-intelligence for the Central Intelligence group (immediate forerunner of the CIA) when he traveled to Saudi Arabia in 1947 to determine the route of the Trans-Arabian pipeline and whether it would terminate in Lebanon or Haifa, Palestine. His plane crashed two weeks after he filed his last report. Charlotte has published several books dealing with a campaign to prosecute George W Bush, and Nelson Rockefeller and the Age of Oil. Her most recent  book is Follow the Pipelines: Uncovering the Mystery of a Lost Spy and the Deadly Politics of the Great Game for Oil . Relying on declassified documents at the National Archives – and after suing the CIA for additional information about her father (who now has a wing of the CIA named after him) -- she reveals that today's wars in Gaza and Ukraine have been triggered by great power competition to control oil and natural gas.

Brian and director Akiva Schaffer had a clear mission: maintain the comedic tone and tenor from the original while spoofing modern-day blockbusters like Mission Impossible.  And stop calling me Shirley. In its Greek root, Mentos means “intent, purpose, spirit and passion.” It was with intent, purpose and passion that this special episode came to life. It is a rare occasion when one can get together with their mentor, and their mentor's mentor for a conversation anchored in three generations of mentorship, leadership and friendship. This is one of those conversations. My special guest, the mentor of my mentor is Admiral Bob Inman. I flew to Austin to meet up with him in person and record this incredible testimony of history and leadership and lifelong service. Admiral Inman was born in April 1931 in East Texas and went on to become a highly decorated United States Navy Officer and Intelligence Leader. His career and service had a profound impact on America's national security architecture. During his 31-year military career that spanned the world and included some of the most sensitive national security posts in the Government, the Admiral earned a bipartisan reputation as one of the Nation's finest intelligence officers of a generation. Journalists used to refer to him as “simply one of the smartest people ever to come out of Washington or anywhere.” Regarded as a superstar in the intelligence community he grew his career in Naval Intelligence serving on carriers, cruisers and destroyers…not to mention the hallowed halls of the Pentagon. The Admiral went on to serve as the Director of Naval Intelligence, Vice Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and Director of the National Security Agency. He was nominated to be Deputy Director of Central Intelligence and served in that role until his resignation in 1982. It was during that time Admiral Inman became the first naval intelligence specialist to earn the rank of 4 Star Admiral. Admiral Inman went on to serve on numerous boards including CalTech's Board of Trustees and held the LBJ Centennial Chart in National Policy at the University of Texas at Austin Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. In every capacity the Admiral has always focused on mentorship and leadership and sharing wisdom for the next generation. When we sat down to speak with the Admiral he had recently celebrated 67 years of marriage with his dear wife. At 94 years of age he is still motivated by selfless service and paying it forward to the next generations of leaders. This conversation counts as one of those gifts. So, sit back and listen to this incredible story of change and mentorship and leadership from a nation's patriot, a renowned thinker and educator and all around incredible guy. And stay tuned at the end of the episode for a follow on reflective discussion with Rob Shook, my mentor who made this all possible. Together we discuss our insights and takeaways from this inspiring afternoon with the Admiral. Thanks for listening.

Part 1 John Kiriakou :Reluctant Spy: My Secret Life in the CIA's War on TerrorJohn Kiriakou is a former CIA officer, former senior investigator for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and former counterterrorism consultant for ABC News.In 2002, Kiriakou became the chief of counterterrorism operations in Pakistan, where he led a CIA team in the March 2002 raid and capture of Abu Zubaydah, then thought to be al-Qaeda's third-ranking official.Following Abu Zubaydah's capture, Kiriakou became Executive Assistant to the CIA's Deputy Director for Operations, where he served as the Director of Central Intelligence's principal Iraq briefer.Kiriakou left the CIA in March 2004. He later served as a senior investigator on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and as senior intelligence advisor to Committee Chairman Senator John Kerry. Kiriakou also authored a bestselling book, "The Reluctant Spy: My Secret Life in the CIA's War on Terror," and worked as an intelligence consultant for ABC News.Throughout his career, Kiriakou received 12 CIA Exceptional Performance Awards, the CIA's Sustained Superior Performance Award, the Counterterrorism Service Medal, and the State Department's Meritorious Honor Award. In 2007, Kiriakou appeared on ABC News, during which he became the first CIA officer to confirm that the CIA waterboarded detainees, and he labeled waterboarding as “torture.” Kiriakou's interview revealed that this practice was official U.S. policy approved at the highest levels of the government. The government began investigating Kiriakou immediately after his media appearance. Five years later, he was charged with multiple felonies resulting from his whistleblowing. He became the sixth whistleblower indicted by the Obama administration under the Espionage Act - a law designed to punish spies.Eventually, in order to avoid a trial that could have resulted in separation from his wife and five children for up to 45 years, he opted to plead guilty to one count of a reduced charge in exchange for a 30-month sentence. In 2012 Kiriakou was honored with the Joe A. Callaway Award for Civic Courage, an award given to individuals who “advance truth and justice despite the personal risk it creates.” Two days prior to sentencing, he was honored by inclusion of his portrait in artist Robert Shetterly's series "Americans Who Tell the Truth," which features notable truth-tellers throughout American history.Kiriakou reported to federal prison in Loretto, Pennsylvania on February 28, 2013 to begin serving his sentence, where he continued to speak out in a series of "Letters from Loretto," including his first, which provided a stunning portrait of prison life. In November 2013, the Peace and Justice Center of Sonoma County, California honored Kiriakou as its "Peacemaker of the Year." He was awarded the prestigious PEN First Amendment Award from the PEN Center USA in August 2015.He was released from prison in February 2015.Part 2 Attorney Michael J. Episode #1153 The CIA's Social Media Takeover: Whistleblower Kevin Shipp Exposes the New Operation Mockingbird Former CIA officer turned whistleblower Kevin Shipp joins the show to blow the lid off the intelligence community's latest playground—social media. Shipp reveals how Big Tech platforms have become the modern-day battleground for psychological warfare, propaganda, and mass manipulation—essentially a reboot of the infamous Operation Mockingbird. Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg's recent confession on Joe Rogan's podcast was just the tip of the iceberg, admitting the FBI's influence in censoring information. But is there more to this story? We dive into the suspicious death of former Meta engineer Suchir Balaji, who allegedly uncovered troubling secrets within the tech giant before his untimely passing. Shipp connects the dots between Silicon Valley, the intelligence apparatus, and how they're working together to control the narrative and suppress dissent. If you thought your social media feed was just for entertainment, think again. GUEST: Kevin Shipp was a former high-ranking CIA officer. Kevin's career was nothing short of extraordinary: protective agent for the Director of Central Intelligence, counterespionage investigator, and operations officer in counter-terrorism. He's seen it all from the inside. But what sets Kevin apart isn't just his impressive résumé; it's his courage. When he uncovered corruption within the agency, he made a choice most would fear to even consider—he blew the whistle. Drawing on his extensive career within the CIA, Shipp reveals how the Agency has deviated from its original mission of delivering honest intelligence to the President, becoming entangled in manipulations of Big Tech, media, and even global corporations. From Project Mockingbird's influence on journalists to the CIA's clandestine alliances with Wall Street and the drug trade, Shipp exposes the hidden levers of control undermining American democracy. He also details the Agency's relentless efforts to silence whistleblowers, including his own harrowing journey as a targeted truth-teller. Tune in for Shipp's bold blueprint to reform the CIA, restore liberty, and safeguard America's future. GUEST: Kevin Shipp is a veteran CIA officer with decades of experience across the Agency's four Directorates. His distinguished career includes assignments as a protective agent for the Director of Central Intelligence, a counterespionage investigator, and a Counter Terrorism Center operations officer. He has served as Chief of Training for the CIA federal police force, a program manager for the State Department's global anti-terrorism efforts, and a polygraph examiner. His insights have been featured on The American Heroes Channel, numerous radio shows, and in his previous book, From the Company of Shadows: CIA Operations and the War on Terrorism. A survivor of a life-threatening illness, Shipp draws on his resilience and moral clarity to advocate for transparency and reform in America's intelligence apparatus. The American intelligence community (IC) is a complex network of 18 different agencies constantly vying for authority and resources. This competition, along with the ongoing effort to balance civilian and military organizations within the IC, is the focus of today's discussion. Dr. Jeff Rogg, a senior research fellow at the Global and National Security Institute, joins podcast editor Ron Granieri to explore the history of the U.S. intelligence system, highlighting its civilian-military dynamics and the critical balance between national security and civil liberties. They delve into the roles of key figures like William Donovan and examine the challenges faced by various Directors of Central Intelligence as they navigate the intricate relationship between military and civilian agencies. This insightful conversation also raises questions about potential reforms needed within the intelligence community, especially considering the growing capabilities of surveillance technology and the need to preserve individual freedoms while ensuring national security.

The actress Kim Cattrall has starred in films and on stage, but is probably best known for TV series Sex And The City. She is now in a new audio drama, Central Intelligence, which tells the story of the CIA from the perspective of Eloise Page. Eloise joined on the agency's first day in 1947 and became the highest ranking female officer. Kim joins Clare McDonnell to discuss Eloise, her passion for radio, and the enduring appeal of Samantha Jones. In sentencing Huw Edwards, the former BBC News presenter, for accessing child sexual abuse images, the magistrate said that he did not pose a risk to the public or children, and that an immediate custodial sentence was not necessary because the evidence showed he could be rehabilitated. Edwards must now attend 25 sex offender treatment sessions. We look at how these treatment programmes work and how effective they are proven to be, with Deborah Denis, CEO of the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and Professor Belinda Winder, Research Director of the Centre for Crime, Offending, Prevention and Engagement at Nottingham Trent University. The number of women taking up NHS cervical screening test invitations has been declining for the last 20 years. Healthwatch England did research with women who were reluctant to accept NHS invitations for screening and found that 73% would do an at-home test instead. A trial done by King's College London earlier this year found that if self-sample kits were available on the NHS, 400,000 more women would be screened per year. Chief Executive of Healthwatch England Louise Ansari and Dr Anita Lim, lead investigator of the King's College London trial, join Clare to tell us more.Sarah Pearse is the best-selling author of the Detective Elin Warner trilogy. She recently released the last novel in the series, The Wilds which includes themes of coercive control and was written with advice from the charity Refuge. She talks to Clare about the role fiction can play in highlighting issues of domestic violence and coercive control.
