Don Beebe was the first player to be a part of 6 Super Bowl teams and is famous for chasing down Leon Lett. Deion Sanders and Don Beebe both had the combine record of 4.25 in the 40. Don shares the behind the scene story when he was at the combine. Insane! So many miracle stories in Don's story. Out of football for 3 years, one of the colleges that had recruited him out of high school called and asked if he'd come back and play. His grandfather was not a good man, but Don's dad succeeded as a dad even though he had an awful father. He changed the Legacy of the Beebe name. After he retired from football, he created The House of Speed and has trained over 200,000 athletes. He coached high school and won state championships and he is now the head coach at Aurora University. He was able to sign a 10 year contract and demanded some specific things to be included in his contract. -Why do bad things happen to good people? Romans 8:28 -Why did Don run down Leon Lett in the SuperBowl? -What is the #1 attribute we need to be a great leader? -How do we know if we are actually a Man of God? -What's something you learned from legendary coach Marv Levy? -How does revenge affect you and what are the ripple effects? Some of my takeaways: "If it's about playing time, then we don't have a relationship." "What you are at home IS what you really are." "Discipline out of love" "Character will be revealed in every game you play." "Things are Caught not Taught." "Sin will keep you from this book." "It's important that you know the playbook. If you don't know the playbook, you can't perform in life." Colossians 3:23 says "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not human masters." In Super Bowl 27, the Dallas Cowboys were crushing the Buffalo bills, and the game was almost over. The Bills quarterback fumbled the ball and a Dallas Cowboys defender, Leon Lett, picked up the ball and ran it almost 60 yards to the end zone. Buffalo Bills wide receiver Don Beebe sprinted and knocked the ball out of Leon Letts hands right at the goal line, which prevented a Dallas touchdown. Don had the right attitude in Christ and he knew that God had called him to maximize his ability and talent and he was working for the Lord and honoring him with his play. We too can work heartily for the Lord, no matter the situation.
See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter. The last time we watched the Houston Texans play a football game they went up 24-0 on the Kansas City Chiefs, on the road, in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, and then proceeded to give up 41 straight points and lose 51-31. This is the closest the Texans have ever been to an AFC Championship game. Houston football fandom is divided into two different franchises. The Oilers, who played in Houston from 1960 to 1996, and eventually moved to Tennessee to become the Titans, and the Texans, who became the 32nd franchise in the NFL in 2002, and continue to play football against the Titans to this day. In the past there was a separation between those who were alive and loved the Oilers, who lived through the years of misery and defeat, and the generation of millennials and zoomers, who only know Houston Texans football. But after last season’s playoff collapse, there’s now a tether, a tie, an umbilical cord that binds these dizygotic twins who are fans of Houston football. Because like the 2019 Houston Texans, the 1992 Houston Oilers had their own playoff collapse, blowing a 35-3 lead in the third quarter, on the road, against the Buffalo Bills, in the Wildcard Round of the NFL playoffs. On this episode of Battle Red Radio, Matt Weston, Diehard Chris, and Bigfatdrunk, revisit the collapse that occurred back on January 3, 1993. Topics include: what happened in their loss to Denver in 1992, why Frank Reich was starting instead of Jim Kelly, what worked for Houston's offense in the first half, feelings after the pick six made it 35-3, the start of the collapse, Don Beebe running out of bounds, Tally's hold of Ernest Givins, and the legacy of the Houston Oilers. Don Beebe's path to the NFL was like something out of a movie. You'll hear him describe in detail how he earned his opportunity in professional football by going to the NFL combine and running a 4.25 in "flappers". Once in the league, he was fortunate to be a key cog on six....that's right SIX Super Bowl teams. While the Bills never won it in their four straight appearances, he was able to get the win and "the game ball" from Brett Favre during his years with the Packers. Now, Beebe is fulfilling what he knows to be God's calling in his life as he is the Head Coach of Division III Aurora University in Illinois. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thesportsobj/support

The NFL Combine is off and running. What should we do with this spectacle of non-football athletics? Then, speaking of athletic: how about a surprise visit with one of the fastest Packers ever? Don Beebe joins the show.Five Thoughts on the NFL Combine (00:25)Everyone sort of understands that the NFL Combine is a weird, non-football circus with dubious value as far as predicting who’s going to be good. And yet, it still has some value. Careers rise and fall based on what happens this week in Indianapolis. So what should we make of it? Here are some thoughts.Former Packers WR Don Beebe (10:53)Don Beebe joined the Packers for their run to the Super Bowl in 1996 and was kind enough to join us for a few minutes to reflect on his career. He’s now the coach at Aurora University and has implemented some of the lessons he learned in the NFL with his young players.SUPPORT BLUE 58Donate to our Patreon - $1 per month offsets our podcast hosting costs.Buy a T-Shirt or Sweatshirt - Look good while supporting The Power Sweep.Leave us a 5-Star Review on iTunes - It helps more people find the show! GLORIFY CHRIST WITH EFFORT One of the greatest plays I’ve ever seen in pro-football happened to be in a Super Bowl game. The Buffalo Bills versus the Dallas Cowboys. Of course we know that the Bills had lost like four Super Bowls in a row. And in one of those games it looked like, again, another loss. They were way behind with just a few minutes left in the game. Wide receiver Don Beebe for the Buffalo Bills was way down field when Jim Kelly, the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills was sacked and the ball was picked up by a Dallas Cowboy defensive lineman named Leon Lett. He started to run to the end zone for yet another Dallas Cowboys score. It was no doubt that the Buffalo Bills were going to lose this game. But Don Beebe was like a streak of lightning, sprinting many yards to finally catch Leon Lett when it seemed like everybody else on his team had just kind of gone through the motions on that play. Beebe tackled Lett before he got to the end zone, forcing him to fumble. Well it had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. The Cowboys still beat the Bills. But Beebe got hundreds and hundreds of letters from people wanting to know why he was willing with just a couple of minutes left in the game to go so hard. And he said it was because his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It didn’t matter what the circumstances were, he was going to glorify Christ with his effort. Is that you? Is that me?

We're joined this month by new Aurora coach Don Beebe, whom you might better know as a former NFL player, one who played in six Super Bowls and provided a quite memorable highlight in one of them. He talks about his new position, his first as a collegiate head coach, including how he watches film on recruits. We also have Colten Bartholomew on this month's show. Bartholomew writes for the La Crosse Tribune, and broke a story last month that was quite fascinating, where he found that a former offensive coordinator at UW-Whitewater emailed his team's playbook to a Division III football head coach, who then forwarded it to yet another D-III head coach. We get the details. Wrapping it up, we have a roundtable discussion about a proposal to change the regional breakdown in Division III football from the current and long-standing four regions to as many as six. Why is this necessary? What issues could it raise? We talk it through. Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Don Beebe joins Homer to talk all things Packers.
Even though the Green Bay Packers still have two games left this year, the season is pretty much over. Last week's loss to the Chicago Bears mathematically eliminated Green Bay from playoff contention for the second consecutive season. Despite making the Pro Bowl, Aaron Rodgers hasn't looked himself lately. Mike McCarthy was fired earlier this month, and a few veteran players are surely on the way out as well. All things considered, it's been a tough year. Instead of bothering to look for more reasons to keep watching the 2018 Packers, we decided to devote a whole podcast episode to looking back at better times. Host Tyler Maas asked Rick Katschke—friend of the site, vintage commercial enthusiast, former Family Feud contestant, and longtime Packer backer—to come to his kitchen and talk about the '96 Packers squad that won Super Bowl XXXI. With a team photo nearby, they talked about each and every player on the team, memories of that historic season, and updates on where some of those Packers are today. If you want semi-informed discussion about the likes of Don Beebe, Lamont Hollinquest, and Bob Kuberski, you're in the right place. This episode is brought to you by Surly Brewing, a Minnesota-based brewery and the official beer of On The Record.
