J&J on Anthony Miller devastating news, Memphis Football, & Shaq
Jeff said that Anthony Miller is a guy who doesn't get any attention, but he could get a spot on this football team. Jeff doesn't think Heyward, Watt, Ogunjobi, Chase Claypool, or Najee Harris will play on Saturday. He thinks everyone else will. Jeff said the QB rotation is going according to Tomlin's plan now. He thinks it will change to performance based after the first preseason game. Jeff told us about George Pickens yelling at Minkah Fitzpatrick after making a few plays. Jeff says that Bush has been okay in camp. Okay is not good enough. Jeff also got into the injury situation the Steelers are dealing w/ at camp. Jeff says Mason Rudolph has dumped the ball off a ton and hasn't taken shots down the field.
Jeff said Anthony Miller has had a really good camp. He thinks the Steelers have some good receiver depth. Jeff got into Calvin Austin III and said he lets his actions do the talking. He wants to prove guys wrong because of his size. Jeff said Kenny Pickett looked better w/ better players. He said it was tough on him behind the third team offensive line. Jeff got into Mike Tomlin's Instagram. Jeff: "If I were to tell you right now, with a month of camp to go, I think Kendrick Green is going to be the starting left guard." Breakfast Bytes- Chris Bickel 97 Pitt Head Football Coach Pat Narduzzi doesn't like boosters. Chris Boswell got paid. Is it ever the right move to pay a kicker? ROOTING FOR/AGAINST

Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers spent their first two NFL Draft picks on offense with Kenny Pickett and George Pickens, and a recent NFL.com list ranked them both as the top players to earn NFL All-Rookie honors for their positions. What does Pickett need to do to make All-Rookie when Mitch Trubisky is slated as the QB1 right now against Malik Willis, Desmond Ridder and other rookie quarterbacks? And can Pickens outdo top receivers in this draft class like Drake London, Treylon Burks, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave and Jahan Dotson? Also, if Pickens beats out that competition, does he become the favorite for offensive rookie of the year? The gambling odds place him at +4000 which could maker for a massive payout if the Steelers succeed at rebuilding the offense and Pickens becomes a primary part of that. And who makes the bottom of the Steelers' wide receiver depth chart? Gunner Olszewski,. Myles Boykin and Anthony Miller are chief among the options. June 9, 2022 - On this Thursday version of The Terrible Take, Dave Bryan talks about veteran Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Anthony Miller as the team's 2022 mandatory minicamp comes to a close.
93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. Jeff said it was another good week for Mitch Trubisky at OTAs and Anthony Miller backed up Trubisky's struggles in Chicago not being all on him. Jeff commented on the Najee Harris weight gain and how good he looks in practices so far. He talked about how DeMarvin Leal looks, who may be forced into a bigger role with the Stephon Tuitt news. He said the offensive line has looked the same for the majority of OTAs, but they are actively working guys around to see the best fit.
Poni is back and had his takes ready for where the Steelers sit now with the retirement of Stephon Tuitt. Poni doesn't believe the Steelers had any knowledge of Tuitt's announcement. He told Cam Heyward he was 50/50 the last time they talked. Poni shared concern that the Steelers were not prepared for this move. He also doesn't think Isaiahh Loudermilk and DeMarvin Leal should be expected to carry the load this year. Chris still wants the team to take a risk on a player like Larry Ogunjobi. 93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. In the first half of episode five, Levi and Brandon interview Dr. Anthony Miller. The episode focuses on opiate use disorder. Levi, Brandon, and Dr. Miller discuss the risks of sustained opiate consumption, causes and treatment options for opiate use disorder, relapsing, and societal views on addiction. Dr. Miller received a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Goshen College and a Medical degree at the University of Iowa with a residency in Psychiatry. Dr. Miller is a practicing psychiatrist and the medical director for addictive disorder services at the VA. Dr. Miller is an expert on opiate use disorder and supports Veterans managing substance use disorders. The VA provides substance use treatments for Veterans. They accept both self-referrals and referrals by another specialty or primary care provider. Possible treatment options include medications, counseling, and therapy. For specifically opiate use disorder treatments, many Veterans begin treatment in outpatient with inpatient treatment opportunities available. Following the opioid epidemic, the VA is dedicated to opioid safety and discovery of the safest options for long-term pain management. The VA conducts research, gathers resources, and explores treatment options to improve the safety of pain management treatment plans. Click the link to learn more about the VA's opioid safety initiative. In the second half of the episode, Levi and Brandon welcome Dr. John Wemmie to explore and break down the science behind addiction itself. Dr. Wemmie is a staff psychiatrist and director of research for behavior health at the Iowa City VA, and he is a Roy J. Carver Endowed Chair of Psychiatry and Neuroscience. Dr. Wemmie is an Iowa native, growing up in West Burlington. His career in research began at Central College in Pella where he received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, and he went on to receive his MD, complete a residency in Psychiatry, and a PhD in Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Iowa. Dr. Wemmie's current research focuses on the role of brain pH and acid-sensing ion channels (ASIC) and behavior and brain function. The nucleus accumbens, found in the basal forebrain, is related to reward and reinforcement and has been found to relate to addiction. The abundancy of ASIC channels in the nucleus accumbens has driven research to explore the connection between the biological and genetic factors on substance use disorders. Click the link to learn more about Dr. Wemmie's research. The VA currently has its own independent research department, the Office of Research and Development, which funds researchers to explore Veteran specific related issues. The VA research program has and continues to make advancements in both Veteran healthcare and general healthcare, with some of the top researchers and physicians at the forefront of that research. Eligible participants can volunteer in clinical trials and studies to contribute to the advancements of the VA's research. Listeners should also listen to episode four, where they talk with Veteran Trever Siver and Henry Uken about their own experience with substance use disorders.

There was a moment, somewhere between the 1980s and 1990s, when Black music turned gangsta. This moment shaped two of the world's most influential genres: American Rap and Jamaican Dancehall. The story behind the music is one of oppressed Africans unlocking the ancient powers of their ancestors to break free. The dark side of this story is that many of those Africans, descended from slaves, embraced the pattern of violence that had cursed them for so long, and slowly turned against each other. Was gangsta music the explosion of Black culture, or the implosion of Black power? In the end, the market decides.
