So many conversations in "podcast land" are all about what people did when they first got started years ago. What were the struggles that they went through? What were the challenges that they faced? What should they have done differently? There is only one problem that can come up with this method: do they even remember what is was REALLY like in the beginning? In this episode, Derek brought on Charlie Adams, Founder and CEO of the Naughty Dog, who is in the beginning stages of building a business with a massive upside. They got into ALL of the messy-ness that happens in the first few months into the first couple years of starting a business. Things like: -What it looks like to start a brand new business -How long do you wait to actually make the jump and go all in -How to know if you are scaling at the right speed -What sacrifices will need to be made to actually "make it" If you are someone that is new in business or if you are someone considering taking the plunge to start a business, this will be a refreshingly new approach to hear from Charlie about what it takes to get something off the ground and still not know with 100% certainty what the potential will actually be. This will serve as a guide as well as an inspiration to put you on the best path for your success!
He grew up in Pennsylvania with two older brothers and played in just about every sport. Eventually football became Charlie Adam's bread and butter – he could catch and run. Skills that served him well as a wide receiver and a return specialist. Which is why he was named All-Pennsylvania Special Teams in high school. Charlie took a scholarship at Hofstra University where he figured he would see some action with their offense. He was right. When he graduated, Charlie was Hofstra's all-time leading wide receiver. A record since broken by Marques Colston who, coincidentally, Charlie hosted when Marques was being recruited. A knee injury during his senior year at Hofstra prevented NFL teams from drafting Charlie, however the Broncos stayed in touch and offered him a spot as a college free agent. Charlie stuck around for a few years and although he was on and off the active roster several times, his final season included starting 16 games and playing in the postseason. These days Charlie works on a number of endeavors, including the Denver Broncos Alumni Association and their golf tournament.

In today's episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast, Pete opens the door on his footballing allegiances which, it is fair to say, have changed slightly throughout the years. Starting off as a staunch ‘Chelsea of old' fan, the more his glittering career progressed the more bitter his reception at Stamford Bridge became. Join us as we chart Crouchy's journey through different clubs and gain a better idea on where his allegiances lie now. Chris also sheds light on some slight football sh*thousery he inflicted on his best mate Dougsie during the 2019 FA Cup final which he eloquently tries too pin on the missus. The hunt for a decent swap for Charlie Adams' coveted boot is also back on, with some hair raising offers been put on the table. Canadian pop group VALLEY joined us today for a new, slightly 90s-themed episode of “Music You’re Missing”. Although we’re pretty sure they’re always this infectiously energetic, VALLEY is riding off the high of some insane news that we’re so excited to get the inside scoop on. Not only did they just announce their tour with COIN for fall 2021 - which will be VALLEY’s first batch of performances since quarantine - but they’ve also been celebrating an electric new single. The nostalgic hit track, “Like 1999”, was born from a 30-minute songwriting exercise in a random AirBnB somewhere in the woods of Toronto (the usual setting for every viral hit). VALLEY was taking time over quarantine to focus on creating, and popped out “Like 1999” during a co-write with Charlie Adams and Johnathan of Nightly. The song completely blew up on TikTok - no surprise to us - and has been steadily growing since its release on all streaming platforms. “‘Like 1999’ happened on the second night [of this trip] and totally by accident. We were doing a sad, kind of breakup song, and we weren’t really feeling it. So Johnathan was like ‘Let’s set a 30 minute timer and write a whole new thing’, and then “1999” was born… It happened super organically.”Inspired by the throwback vibes of “Like 1999”, we set up a game of “Who’s Most Likely?” with the band, and found out that not only are they incredible musicians, but one of them may or may not be able to recreate the “Hit Me Baby One More Time” music video frame-by-frame. If VALLEY is this dynamic over Zoom, we can’t wait to see the energy they bring to the stage with COIN this fall. Check out the full podcast and all of VALLEY’s antics on our new episode of “Music You’re Missing”! You can also find their nostalgic tunes on our Spotify playlist.
