Dana and Tom, for their 250th episode and 5th Anniversary, discuss the 1993 Best Picture winner, Schindler's List: directed by Steven Spielberg, written by Steven Zaillian, music by John Williams, cinematography by Janusz Kaminski, starring Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, and Ralph Fiennes.Plot Summary: Schindler's List is a powerful film exposing the horrors of the Holocaust and the capacity for redemption in the face of unimaginable evil. Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson) is a German businessman whose war profiteering led him to exploit Jewish labor in Nazi-occupied Poland. However, what begins as opportunism transforms into something deeply human as Schindler witnesses the systematic brutality inflicted upon his workers. With quiet urgency, he shifts from bystander to savior, risking everything to shield more than a thousand Jews from certain death. Schindler's List is not just a great film but a necessary one.Chapters:00:00 Welcome to Our 250th Episode and 5th Anniversary Show01:29 Cast and Background for Schindler's List05:46 Relationship(s) to Schindler's List13:27 Where Should Schindler's List be Ranked Among All Best Picture Winners?16:37 What is Schindler's List About?17:25 Plot Summary for Schindler's List18:20 Did You Know?20:09 First Break21:16 Best Performance(s)31:01 Best/Favorite/Indelible Scene(s)35:17 Second Break36:14 In Memoriam36:55 Best Line(s)38:42 The Stanley Rubric - Legacy43:37 The Stanley Rubric - Impact/Significance46:37 The Stanley Rubric - Novelty49:18 The Stanley Rubric - Classicness52:06 The Stanley Rubric - Rewatchability54:55 The Stanley Rubric - Audience Score and Final Total56:58 Remaining Questions and Final Thoughts01:05:27 CreditsYou can also find this episode in full video on YouTube. You can now follow us on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, or TikTok (@gmoatpodcast).For more on the episode, go to: https://www.ronnyduncanstudios.com/post/schindler-s-list-1993For the entire rankings list so far, go to: https://www.ronnyduncanstudios.com/post/greatest-movie-of-all-time-listKeywords:Schindler's List, Steven Spielberg, Holocaust, film analysis, movie podcast, cinematic legacy, emotional impact, film performances, classic films, movie reviewsRonny Duncan Studios

In this week's episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss the often-maligned fourth entry in the beloved action adventure series, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! A fantastic cast, including a scenery-chewing Cate Blachett! That magical Steven Spielberg visual storytelling that's present in even his lesser movies! Vibrant cinematography from the one and only Janusz Kaminski! New supporting characters who feel like they could've been there all along! Harrison Ford slipping back into character like he never left! Do all these positives outweigh the somewhat awkward presence of Shia LaBeouf and other supposed faults, such as the infamous “nuke the fridge” moment? Listen now to find out!In addition, Alex saw (and enjoyed) two movies from actor/directors: Creed III and the Vietnamese martial arts movie, Furies! You can find AIPT Movies on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Above the Title: A Colin Farrell Podcast

We're joined this week by the great Justin Stillmaker to discuss what's not only a great movie, but is a legitimate contender for the best movie we'll discuss on this podcast... well, maybe one of us disagrees: it's Minority Report! We break down the film in comparison to the original short story, dig into its complicated post 9/11 tone in relation to film noir, debate the aesthetic choices made by the madman Janusz Kaminski, and yes, we get into Colin's (contentious?) performance… but let's be honest, the three of us are mostly just here to talk Tom Cruise. Connor is way too nice to Mission: Impossible III. Cole questions the very thesis of this podcast. Justin posits a very bizarre hypothetical alternate career path Colin could have taken. Honestly, I'm surprised they got so giddy. One of the co-hosts (John) was so touched by it he said "aww" a bunch of times the way someone does when they see a bunny. Not the Fatal Attraction bunny. The film is sweet and made brilliantly. Somethin's comin', somethin' good: this week, Paul and Arlo pirouette through a discussion of Steven Spielberg's new take on West Side Story, nominated for Best Picture at this year's Oscars. Is it a spoiler to say they love it? The boys discuss how Spielberg and screenwriter Tony Kushner's changes enrich the text, why choreographer Justin Peck's bold choice to discard Jerome Robbins' iconic choreography was the right move, what it means for the Sharks to be played by Latinx actors, and the joy of watching Spielberg treat every musical number like his and Janusz Kaminski's playground. Steven Spielberg hired Janusz Kaminski as the cinematographer for "Schindler's List” twenty-five years ago, and they have worked together, hand-in-glove, ever since. Their collaboration has produced "Saving Private Ryan," "Bridge of Spies," "Lincoln," and many others, including the new, eagerly-awaited "West Side Story,"  which opens December 10th.  In this episode, which originally posted in 2016, both filmmakers tell how they fell in love with the movies and learned to make them. Spielberg talks about his first camera and trusting his instincts, and Kaminski talks about how growing up in 1970's Poland gave him an unusual eye on the world.

Cinematographer Flavio Labiano doesn't consider himself an artist with a capital “A” but more of a craftsperson. To him, cinematography is a craft that you learn by making mistakes and taking risks, like any other craft that you hone and improve over time. On Disney's Jungle Cruise, Flavio found the planning and pre-production stages of the huge-scale movie to be especially challenging. It was about 100 days of planning, with two different sets- one in Hawaii and one in Atlanta, Georgia, and with the second unit shooting footage in the Amazon to use as background plates. All the exterior tank work was done in front of a blue screen in a parking lot in Atlanta. The town of Porto Velho, where the jungle cruise adventure begins, was mainly shot in Hawaii. Flavio paid close attention to the orientation of the sun in order to match the set in Hawaii with the set in Atlanta. He also had to match the hard sunlight in the South to the sunlight in Hawaii, and the crew had to deal with the constant interruptions of summer afternoon rainstorms in Georgia. Flavio and Jungle Cruise director, Jaume Collet-Serra, have worked together on several films including The Shallows, another movie that takes place mostly in water. Flavio grew up in Spain, then moved to Los Angeles to attend AFI. He found his first film jobs working for Roger Corman's studio alongside Wally Pfister, Phedon Papamichael, and Janusz Kaminski. Flavio moved back to Spain for film work and has made most of his career there with movies such as The Day of the Beast, which was a huge commercial success in Spain, and Timecrimes, an exciting and mind-bending thriller. Shortly after Timecrimes, he and fellow Spaniard, director Jaume Collet-Serra began working together. Influenced by director Alfred Hitchcock, who enjoyed making thrillers with characters who are celebrities, the two made Nonstop and Unknown with Liam Neeson. Phedon Papamichael's career as a cinematographer goes back to the 80's, but he's still a go-to DP for the best filmmakers in the business. You might call him an “actor's cinematographer” or a stylistic chameleon. Phedon talks about his approach to the craft: rather than trying to put his visual stamp on a movie, his goal is to serve the story and overall vision. He compares his experiences working with Alexander Payne, George Clooney, Aaron Sorkin and James Mangold -- and what it was like juggling the massive personalities on the set of Sorkin's The Trial of the Chicago 7. Phedon and recalls his early days shooting stripper-centered B-movies under Roger Corman's tutelage — with Wally Pfister and Janusz Kaminski as his camera crew. This is a masterclass in what it means to be an A-list cinematographer. Don't miss this one: Phedon is the man. Wally Pfister grew up loving movies, and couldn't wait to become a filmmaker. The son of an ABC news journalist, Wally got his start as a news production assistant in Los Angeles, and he worked his way up to become a news cameraman. He attended American Film Institute, where he met fellow filmmakers Janusz Kaminski and Phedon Papamichael. Together they began working for Roger Corman's Concorde/New Horizons production company based in Venice, CA, cranking out as many as twelve B-movies per year. Wally would leave the studio literally splattered in fake blood, but he knew low-budget filmmaking work was essential for having the freedom to learn lighting and shooting while on the job. Even with his prestigious degree from AFI, Wally knew it didn't make him a filmmaker- he still needed to learn and hone his craft before moving on to bigger projects. Those opportunities came once Phedon Papamichael brought him on as a camera operator for Phenomenon and While You Were Sleeping. Wally loved the independent films of the 1990's, and was happy to work as director of photography for The Hi-Line, a well-received indie feature that won awards at several film festivals. Director Christopher Nolan saw the film, and approached Wally to shoot Memento. Memento blends black and white with color cinematography, to show the main character's broken memory as he tries to piece together who killed his wife. Nolan had purposefully scripted it so that the color sequences shown in the film are in reverse order while the black and white scenes are chronological. Wally and Chris Nolan both preferred taking a naturalistic approach to lighting and camerawork, and Wally's experience of working fast enabled them to shoot in just 25 days. Insomnia was a big jump for Wally and Christopher Nolan into a bigger budget movie, especially with stars such as Al Pacino and Robin Williams attached. This time, Wally had the budget, the time and the ability to make a great movie. Insomnia uses light rather than darkness as a way to build tension- it takes place in midsummer Alaska, when the sun never sets. Wally used key lighting in certain scenes to enhance the performance of Pacino, whose detective character is quite literally hiding from the light, as his guilt and exhaustion spirals down into madness. The next project Christopher Nolan and Wally collaborated on was a huge Hollywood movie: Batman Begins, which relaunched the Batman franchise after nearly ten years. Even though Batman is a superhero/comic book movie, Nolan still wanted to take a gritty and naturalistic approach- he never wanted the cinematography to get in the way. Wally kept the movie dark and rough, rather than glossy and stylized in contrast to the previous Batman movies. Very little of Batman Begins used computer generated visual effects- Chris Nolan prefers to do all effects in-camera when possible and used models and miniatures, as in the train derailment sequence. For The Prestige, the production crew scouted locations in Los Angeles, and found old theaters and the Universal backlot to make it seem like Europe at the turn of the century. Again, Nolan wanted The Prestige to look natural and loose, with much of the film hand-held, even when Wally was on a crane. Wally used lanterns and natural light to illuminate most scenes, and every magic trick was done in-camera, with no special effects. The Prestige earned Wally his first Academy Award nomination. Listen for Wally Pfister, Part 2, coming next week! He talks about Inception, Moneyball, The Dark Knight Rises, Trancendence and more! How do we light our movies? The answer for many starts with the idea of motivation. What, within the world of our film, justifies the light illuminating our stories? In this episode we once again sit down with Paige Smith to discuss the ins and outs of lighting ideology. Most films circa the 21st century are lit in a way that prizes ‘naturalism’; we delve into the reasoning behind this as well as other ideologies, including the theatrical lighting methods that dominated early and mid 20th century cinema. In this episode, we discuss:Lighting ideologies and how they can influence our creative process. The dangers of using the words “Key”, “Fill”, and “Backlight.”The evolution of lighting linguistics, from the birth of cinema through the era of classical hollywood realism to modern-day realism.Gendered lighting techniques and other broken methodologies.Gregg Toland’s groundbreaking candlelight in The Grapes of Wrath.Janusz Kaminski’s use of ‘documentary’ lighting in Schindler’s List.Ellen Kuras’ use of broken lighting motivation in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.James Wong Howe and Roger Deakins’ lighting seminars.

Jacqueline Dalunde is the founder and Executive Producer of apparentlyjack, a production and development company based in LA. I've known Jack for quite some time and feel fortunate to consider her a friend and ally. She was one of my first interviews when I started the pod. I was a HOT MESS. Talk about mistakes. I had major technical issues, the room we chose was echo AF. I felt really embarrassed. Think: overly dramatic/existential "why even bother doing this" vibes.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Yet, she stayed cool, calm, and collected. Classy lady. ⁣⁣ We decided to re-record, however, mostly because it's been a year and a half since and so much has changed in her life.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ She now lives in Sweden, which proved serendipitous timing. Nordic countries have been able to keep production active during Covid-19, so she gives us an insider look as to what that means. Her background spans almost every aspect of the filmmaking process from development to delivery, in both the branded and Independent film/television spaces. She got her start in 2011 working with producer Chris Gibbin. Together, they collaborated with top cinematographers in the business (Wally Pfister, Janusz Kaminski and Phedon Papamichael) on a content series called Advanced Filmmaking. Some time later, she became Head of Production at LA-Based Agency Something Massive. She built the video & photo departments from the ground up while developing/producing features, shorts and branded content for Fortune 500 companies. With 10+ years in the film and advertising industries, Jacqueline decided to go out on her own to form the content studio apparentlyjack. It’s mission is to produce and develop cinematic storytelling and storyline driven content in a variety of formats. During our hour together, Jack shines a bright light on the importance of talking to each other. Seems obvious, but you'd be surprised.⁣⁣ It is only through discussion (and action), that we can de-stigmatize mental health, grow from our mistakes, and get closer to achieving inclusion and gender parity in front and behind the camera.⁣⁣ Can’t wait to hear what you think of this week’s episode! A Vakfolt versus című spinoff-podcastunk harmadik évadja veszi kezdetét a héten. Miben hasonlít mondjuk a The Post-Ready Player One páros a Catch Me If You Can-Minority Report kettősére. Mennyire átgondolt a Különvélemény világteremtése? This is Frank Roche for the Postcardist News Network reporting today’s postcard news. Today’s top stories: Tired of the post office shredding your postcards? Now you can pay for the privilege with Hello from Banksy, a postcard that has to be shred to be read. The Super Bowl of U.S postcard shows opens November 16 and 17 at the York International Postcard Expo in York, Pennsylvania.  It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…at least in North Pole, Alaska, where you can get a special cancellation for your holiday postcards. And where else can you get an original by some of the world’s leading artists? The auction for Art on a Postcard is where. Plus…more. Postcard books I read in October. And more. Stay tuned. ****** Welcome to Episode 42 of The Postcardist Podcast. After our terrific storytelling episode last week on the Halloween Episode, I thought I’d try a little something just for fun. There’s a lot of postcard news out there…   Here we go….   Hear that? It’s the sound of Bansky’s Girl with Balloon being shredded right after the gavel fell at a Sotheby’s, where the framed drawing sold for over one million dollars. As soon as the purchase was final, a Banksy confederate activated a switch that made the drawing slide down through the frame and get sliced into a hundred strips.   Now…you can get a postcard inspired by that fine art prank. Designer Lesha Limnov created a postcard for the Rijksmuseum called Hello from Bansky. It looks like a miniature, framed piece of art. But pull at a tab on the bottom, and the precut postcard comes out in shreds. As you slice the postcard to ribbons, what’s left behind is a small, secret message, filled out by the postcard’s sender. Their concept: Destroy the masterpiece and leave your message inside the postcard.  Cost is $10 on the Shuba site…alas, they’re out of stock, but I’m first in line to get the collection.   Next up on the Postcardist News Network is the York International Postcard Expo on November 16 and 17. Recognized as the largest antique postcard show in the country, the show will feature dealers from more than 30 different states and Europe and new dealers have been added this year bringing such specialties as Art Nouveau, Real Photo, Russian, Holiday cards and U.S. and foreign views. Visitors can look forward to viewing millions of postcards. Postcards of every artist, country and topic from any era can be found at the York Fairgrounds Postcard Show. For more than 25 years Mary Martin Ltd. has hosted its annual postcard show held at the York Expo Center in York, Pennsylvania. Plus, I’ll be there. With a microphone. Talking to dealers and collectors and the who’s who in postcarding. Maybe I’ll get a special cachet or two.   Our third story is about the North Pole. Or more specifically, the US. Post Office at North Pole, Alaska. They’re already gearing up for the holiday season with their special Letters from Santa postmark. How this affects us in the postcard community is this: there’s a special North Pole Holiday cancellation you can get in the United States if you send postcards to the location. According to the USPS postal bulletin,  Customers wanting a special holiday postmark need to do the following (and I’m paraphrasing for the Postcardists):  Personalize your postcard, seal it in an envelope and print addresses on the postcards. Place a postage stamp on each postcard. Mail all addressed postcards together in a larger envelope to NORTH POLE HOLIDAY CANCELLATION POSTMASTER 4141 POSTMARK DR ANCHORAGE AK 99530-9998 Myself, I’m going to send a bundle of Christmas postcards with great stamps and address them to people on my list. And I’m going to ask them to place the North Pole postmark on the cards, then drop them in the don’t-overspray bin…and there you. Go. The last day the USPS recommends sending cards or letters is December 8.   Also..for postcardists in the U.S there are a number of special cancellations in certain cities such as REINDEER STATION in Rudolph, Ohio and Santa Claus Station in Santa Claus, Indiana. Also, those of you who like sprayed on cancellations should know the USPS will apply a Happy Holidays cancellation with Santa in his sleigh from Saturday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Jan. 4. If it’s anything like the Thinking of You cancellation, it might be hard to discern.     Our final story on the Postcardist News Network is about the secret auction, Art on a Postcard, that runs now through November 15. Art on a Postcard presents a unique chance to own a mini masterpiece by an artist who would normally be well out of most people's reach. Certainly mine. The auction features some of the most collectable and interesting contemporary artists practicing today, such as Marina Abramović, Humphrey Ocean, Rob and Nick Carter, Martin Yeoman, Vanessa Jackson, and Maria Kreyn. Here’s the catch: But you'll never know who you're bidding for, as all of the work is anonymous until after the sale. You can get involved online at www.artonapostcard.com. Simply browse through the different works on display and choose your favourites to bid. Whoever bids the most, wins. The auction ends at midday on November 15, 2018. Art on a Postcard raises money for The Hepatitis C Trust, so it's all for a good cause.   That’s the news.   Finally, this month I read a bunch of postcard books I’d like to recommend. The include:   Atget: Postcards from a Lost Paris by Benjamin Weiss The Postcard Age: Postcards from the Era of World Wars (The Leonard A. Lauder Postcard Archive) by Jozefacka, Klich, Kreinik and Weiss Paper Jewels from the Raj by Omar Khan Postcards from the Boys by Ringo Starr. There’s a reason I mention this one I’ll get into soon.   Meanwhile, there are a couple extra bits of postcard news. Variety announced that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, star of AMC’s series “The Walking Dead,” and Connie Nielsen have signed on for the Janusz Kaminski-directed thriller “The Postcard Killings.”   The two will co-star in the film adapted from James Patterson and Liza Marklund’s bestseller. The film follows a New York detective whose life is thrown into turmoil when he learns that his daughter and son-in-law have been brutally murdered in London. As he digs into the case, similar crimes are reported across Europe with each killing accompanied by a postcard sent to a local journalist. And last, proving that postcards make connections…a piece of happy news. Hello Clarksville-The Neighborhood Postcard project, kicks off at the Downtown Commons on November 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Participants will create handcrafted postcards with positive messages that will be mailed to random people in the community. Each postcard is a small piece of art to be shared with a neighbor  And that’s the Postcardist News Network for the week of November 5, 2018. Next week, we have Evan Kalish of Postlandia. Evan has visited and photographed more then 9200 post offices across all 50 states in the United States…we’ll hear about those adventures…and much more. Evan is a real expert on postmarks. That’s a wrap. Please subscribe to the show. It really makes a difference to get our message out.   Keep sending postcards. And thanks for listening

Steven Spielberg hired Janusz Kaminski as the cinematographer for "Schindler's List” twenty-five years ago, and they have worked together, hand-in-glove, ever since. Their collaboration has produced "Saving Private Ryan," "Bridge of Spies," "Lincoln," and many others. In this episode, both filmmakers tell how they fell in love with the movies, and learned to make them. Spielberg talks about his first camera and trusting his instincts, and Kaminski talks about how growing up in 1970's Poland gave him an unusual eye on the world.

Know Dallas-born Mitch Dubin? No? You have indeed seen his work if you’ve caught little-known films such as Bridge of Spies, Godzilla, The Avengers, War Horse, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, Catch Me If You Can, Saving Private Ryan, War of the Worlds ... We could go on, but we don’t have enough space. Mitch is Steven Spielberg’s long-time camera operator, having worked on more than a dozen of his films. He has also operated camera and collaborated with the amazing Oscar winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski on 20 films! Spielberg, Kaminski and other famous directors and cinematographers trust Mitch to bring the visions in their heads to life in moving images, which get passed on to editors who shape the Oscar-worthy scenes for the big screens. But get this! After Mitch graduated from college, it was tough to get a job. Sound familiar? He worked as a janitor to pay his rent. Mitch tells of getting his first film job putting stickers on camera gear for Francis Ford Coppola and his gradual rise to becoming Steven Spielberg’s go-to-guy. Mitch focuses on the basic principles of on-set procedures and protocol. Yet, his perspective on the world of story telling goes far beyond the scope of great camera operators. Zoom in on what one of the best in the business has to say about building your career. Check out Mitch Dubin on www.imdb.com. You’ll feel like you’ve known him forever. “Always be nice to those you meet on the way up … they are the same people you will meet on the way down.” - Wilson Mizner Subscribe to the free Monetizing Your Creativity podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/monetizing-your-creativity/id1082894462?mt=2 While you're there, please leave your comments and suggestions for future episodes. KELLY MANTLE is an entertainer extraordinaire.  Whether she’s singing live, lip syncing & dancing, or brandishing her sardonic comedy as an emcee, her high-energy shows captivate audiences worldwide and leave them wanting more. Audiences will immediately recognize Kelly from the last season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”  But this isn’t her first time on TV.  Kelly has been a working actor (in and out of drag) in Hollywood for the past ten years with a list of credits longer than her legs. As a stand-up comedian and stage actor, Kelly has starred in over 50 plays in the theatre.  Kelly wrote & starred in her critically-acclaimed one-person show “The Confusion Of My Illusion” which was produced at the Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Theatre at the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. Kelly has a few movie credits, but wants MORE!  Most recently, Kelly finished filming Confessions of a Womanizer (with Gary Busey) and American Dream (with Nick Stahl, directed by Steven Spielberg‘s Oscar-winning cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski).  Both movies will be released in movie theaters this year. Kelly is also a singer, songwriter, and musician.  To date, Kelly has recorded three albums which have been hailed by critics everywhere: “Ever Changing,” “Rock N Glow” and “Satellite Baby.”  Kelly’s cover & video of “My Neck, My Back” has won over thousands of viewers on YouTube, including the song’s originator, Khia. Kelly grew up in Oklahoma like her uncle, the late great Mickey Mantle. (Yep…Kelly’s a switch-hitter too.)  Kelly received a B.F.A. in Theatre from the University of Oklahoma.  Kelly is also a graduate of Second City in Chicago.

Rarely does a film truly take you into somebody's head for almost the entire film. Sure, you get POVs here and there in films, but it's a tricky tool to use, especially for longer periods of time. When Ronald Harwood hit on this in-the-head technique for his adaptation of Jean-Dominique Bauby's biography, it was exactly what the story needed to be told as a film. Enter Julian Schnabel, an artist/filmmaker who brought his own intuitive magic to the directing of it, and you end up with 2007's "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," a stunningly gorgeous film that's as powerful a story of human resilience and beauty as it is a difficult film to watch because of the subject — a man living with locked-in syndrome. Join us — Pete Wright and Andy Nelson — as we continue our foreign language series with this brilliant film. We talk about our feelings of the movie and how powerful it is yet how difficult it can be to watch and why. We chat about the unique techniques Schnabel brings to the table in the making of the film and why they work so well with this story. We discuss the actors — Mathieu Amalric, Max von Sydow, Emmanuelle Seigner, Marie-Josée Croze and more — and how they all bring an amazing personal strength to the film. We talk about Janusz Kaminski's beautiful cinematography and how well it lends itself to the telling of this story. We bring up the novel Bauby's widowed girlfriend wrote about her experience and talk about why she got virtually left out of the film. And we look at the critical reception this film had worldwide, even if it struggled to bring in the bucks. It's a glorious poem of a film and one worth talking about. "Where'd they go? Space?" "Not into space. Into the space between spaces." The ridiculousness of this line pretty much sums up our feelings for Steven Spielberg's 2008 film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It's nonsensical, silly, and surreal sci-fi mumbo jumbo that amounts to nothing. That being said, the long-awaited return to Indiana Jones and his adventures still manages to take viewers on a wild ride, even if it steers off course most of the time. Join us — Pete Wright and Andy Nelson — this week as we finish off Indiana Jones with what most people consider the worst of the series. We talk about the addition to the cinematic lexicon that Spielberg created with nuking the fridge, something on par with jumping the shark, and how that really reflects the rest of the film quite well. We discuss how Spielberg and his cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski, had to return to an older style of filmmaking used in the previous films and how that helped and hindered this film. We chat about the challenges of making a sequel 19 years after the last entry, what struggles they had because of it, why they took so long to get around to making it, and what works in it. We laugh about the odd overuse of animals in this film and what Spielberg may be trying to say in the film. We relate this entry to "Crusade" and how they're both father/son stories, yet how this one fails where "Crusade" succeeded. And we come to terms with the fact that, as much as we (mostly) don't like this movie, it really does fit stylistically with everything going on in "Temple" and "Crusade" as far as style and humor, and how "Raiders" is the film that really stands out as the entry that doesn't quite fit. It was a struggle to watch but, oddly, not as much as it was the last time and, even if it's not everything we wanted it to be to finish the series, it's still a lot of fun to talk about.  Listen in!
