Xbox Dominates PS5 Charts, Grand Strategy Returns, and Nostalgia Hits High Gear This week's gaming landscape sees intriguing shifts and anticipated returns, as discussed on the latest GameBurst Podcast. In a surprising turn, all of last month's best-selling titles on Sony's PS5 were published by rival Xbox, further blurring console battle lines. This trend continues with the news that another major Microsoft franchise, Gears of War, will make its debut on PlayStation later this year with a revamped edition of the original game. Paradox Interactive has officially lifted the veil on 'Project Caesar', confirming widespread speculation that it is indeed Europa Universalis 5, heralding what the developers are calling a "new era for grand strategy." Meanwhile, Rockstar's GTA 6 trailer has shattered records, becoming the biggest video launch of all time and surpassing even Hollywood behemoths like Deadpool and Wolverine, despite a potential release pushed to 2026. Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass can look forward to a robust May, with a fresh wave of titles including day-one releases such as Doom: The Dark Ages and Revenge of the Savage Planet. Fans of historical action have cause for celebration too, as the highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, titled Ghost of Yōtei, is set to launch on October 2, 2025, nearly five years after the original. Finally, a dose of 90s nostalgia is incoming with Crystal Dynamics' cult classic Gex and its two sequels being bundled for a multi-platform release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC on June 16th. #gameburst

We just passed Mar10 Day this week, and that got us thinking about all the times console makers have thought, "Hey! What if WE had a cute, highly marketable face to sell OUR hardware?" We'll take a look at five of the least successful attempts at machine-exclusive mascots this week, after which we'll get into WWE 2k25 and Wanderstop, share updated thoughts on Monster Hunter Wilds and Suikoden I & II HD Remaster, and hear which games you think should have a Nemesis System of their own. Question of the Week: Do you have a persistent regret about a game (i.e., did you finish a game the "wrong" way, miss a piece of a story, make a bad decision, etc., that you've never gotten around to correcting)?

In this riveting episode with Alicia Racine, we go deep into a number of important therapeutic topics. We cover the incredible overlap between developing oneself as an artist and as a therapist. The root of most eating disorders and the kinds of therapeutic interventions that work best for folks with an ED. The crucial element of the therapeutic process that is often missed and how that causes eating disorders to return. The difference between eating disorders and disordered eating. Modalities such as brain spotting, EMDR, DBT, and Exposure Response Prevention. Trauma and policing. Co-occurrence of OCD and trauma and the current therapeutic standards. Going to the places that scare us. And so much more! Alicia Racine is an accomplished performance artist and therapist, who has worked with several demographics including people diagnosed with schizophrenia, eating disorders and more recently, high profile clients dealing with traumas ensued by the media. During her time working with eating disorders, she created a group that supported women and their relationship with food called Sexy Delicious Healthy. She hosted a retreat in Bali for those struggling with Eating Disorders and served as a board member for the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp), Los Angeles chapter. Her private practice began with a focus on ed until the pandemic where she could no longer practice her two-session weekly method of talk therapy and exposure meals. During the pandemic, she created a consulting program that placed hundreds of people in therapy with a clinician that matched them. Her self-imposed criteria included economics, treatment style, expertise in their diagnosis, temperament match, and cultural appropriateness. As a lifelong performer, Alicia is currently using humor to make mental health more accessible, She creates fun and often irreverent meditations that are aware of their own woo wooness, and is about to launch a mental health podcast where she collaborates with stand-up comedians. She is also insanely passionate about supervising associate clinicians in her group practice. Alicia has a Tedx talk coming out within the next few months created for the Gex z population. Hello from the past! You're looking at a brand spanking new old episode, and we decided to stick with the Vault moniker for them. We're now using these to venture outside of our normal fare and discuss other things we like. First up is a dive into the Nintendo Gamecube. Moreso a personal experience exchange rather than an overall general history of the console, we talk about what makes it so dang special to us and why it's one of our favorite gaming consoles of all time. And also Gex, because you can't talk about the Nintendo Gamecube without talking about Gex. …Right? Next week's movie: Touch of Evil (1958) You can join the conversation every Wednesday at 7pm EST on Twitch and Youtube! Available in podcast form on all your favorite podcatchers! Gex is a platform video game series, developed by Crystal Dynamics, that details the adventures of an anthropomorphic gecko named Gex. He has served as the mascot of Crystal Dynamics, appearing on their company logo for several years until 2000. In the North American version, Gex is voiced by comedian Dana Gould; the United Kingdom version features Gould, Leslie Phillips and Danny John-Jules as Gex's voice. Gex was voiced by Mitsuo Senda for the Japanese release of the second game. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Cyberia wasn't just a tech hub; it was a hotspot for celebrities like David Bowie, Kylie Minogue and Mick Jagger, and it was famed for their Sunday morning post-rave LAN parties and gaming basement. 22 Ideas About The Future: https://tinyurl.com/yb8ayc8z CybrSalon Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@CybrSalon/videos Please visit our amazing sponsors and help to support the show: Bitmap Books https://www.bitmapbooks.com/ Check out PCBWay at https://pcbway.com for all your PCB needs Thanks to our latest Patreon backers, in the Hall of Fame this week: Just Great Ideas Today, Dylan Sainsbury, John Lundy We need your help to ensure the future of the podcast, if you'd like to help us with running costs, equipment and hosting, please consider supporting us on Patreon: https://theretrohour.com/support/ https://www.patreon.com/retrohour Get your Retro Hour merchandise: https://bit.ly/33OWBKd Join our Discord channel: https://discord.gg/GQw8qp8 Website: http://theretrohour.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theretrohour/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/retrohouruk Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/retrohouruk/ Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/theretrohour Upcoming events we'll be at: Retro Messa: https://retromessa.no/en/ Amiga38 Germany - https://www.amigaevent.de/WB.html Show notes: Gex is back: https://tinyurl.com/2s35jwy8 Antstream coming to XBox: https://tinyurl.com/2z23z79z Funfair Inc for Commodore 64: https://tinyurl.com/4sphkajc Burn Master, Game Boy cart reader/writer: https://tinyurl.com/4etffk86
