We were saddened to learn of WTR director Michael Preece's passing. In October of 2021 he was kind enough to talk with us about his amazing career and we thought we'd reshare that interview here. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family. What a life!ORIGINAL SHOW NOTESWe are excited to share our interview with legendary director, Michael Preece, who worked on 70 episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger! He got his start script supervising the likes of Brando, Wayne and McQueen only to jump in the director's chair and helm some of TV's biggest shows (Dallas, MacGyver & 7th Heaven). We talk about it all with a heavy dose of Chuck Norris! Subscribe today for access to our full catalog of bonus episodes, including 2+ new episodes every month! www.patreon.com/boysbiblestudy Our new favorite classic television series is WALKER, TEXAS RANGER, a thrilling and campy show starring action film hero Chuck Norris in one of his most legendary roles. It's a police procedural with the unique twist of depicting Texas Rangers as being skilled in martial arts and frequently involved in supernatural or otherwise extraordinary plots involving elements such as hostile Native American ghosts, white supremacist gangs, time travel, and deadly poison gas. We at Boys' Bible Study have also recently been TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, an intriguing companion piece because both shows were extremely popular 90s/y2k era franchises that blend conservative cultural values with pulpy, supernatural plot lines. This is evident in the WALKER episode we focus on for this week's review: PARADISE TRAIL is a story where Walker and friends are being read a story about a 19th century bounty hunter in the Old West guiding a wagon crew of Mormon settlers crossing treacherous wilderness to get to Utah. The WALKER cast imagine themselves in various roles of the story, singing hymns and cooking meals with their pure and extremely Aryan-looking Mormon friends. The episode actually borrows plot points from real historic episodes involving Mormon settlers in the U.S., but like all good propaganda, misrepresents and distorts information to protect the honor of its sympathetic subjects; in this case, white American Christians. WALKER, TEXAS RANGER is much more successful than the Christian movies we usually watch at distilling Christian conservative values while still having broad cultural appeal. Todd McCaffrey was born to Anne McCaffrey on April 27th, 1956. The then-named Todd Johnson came into the world as a rather precocious middle child. Anyone who questions the precocious part has only to read some of the anecdotes in “Dragonholder” to have any doubt removed. He spent most of his childhood on the East Coast of the USA until moving to Dublin, Ireland with his mother and sister in 1970. Like most of the boys growing up in the '60s, McCaffrey became space mad. However, unlike most of the other young men running around their yards in pretend helmets and throwing toy rockets into the air, he was given a “complete” set of the actual Lunar Module Pilot Study Guides in 1968. The number of hours spent devouring them repeatedly from cover to cover is evident in the fact that he has been known to quote excerpts from them during convention panels. When the time came for him to pursue higher education, McCaffrey attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for a year—and hated it. But he did discover one of the great loves of his life while he was there, computers. He graduated with Honors—or rather, “Honours”—in 1985 from Trinity College, Dublin. Having never lost his love for space, he left Ireland for Los Angeles, California, in the hopes of working in the aerospace Find out more at: pernhome.com/tjm/ STEVEN L. On this episode, I fly solo as I'll recap the 1994 Survivor Series event 30 years later. Teams of 5 strived to survive on that fateful night in San Antonio, TX in 5 vs 5 Elimination Tag Matches. Plus Bret Hart and Bob Backlund clashed in an Submission Match for the WWF Title, Yokozuna and Undertaker met in a Casket Match and Chuck Norris graced us with his brilliance as only Walker Texas Ranger can provide!!! I'll also share my thoughts on the upcoming 2024 Survivor Series: Wargames event next weekend and the dilemma the build up has creatively caused in my brain!!!

Films are getting the 4K upgrade this week on the physical media show. Peter Sobczynski joins Erik Childress to talk about why Orson Welles made his fourth film along with the great fun of Run Lola Run. Perhaps the craziest tales are reserved for what became and almost became of one of Chuck Norris' mid-80s Cannon fodder. There's also a little Gucci, a little Lasso, some Babes and a breakdown of one of the most unlikeliest trilogies ever from its subject matter, its sweet endurance and ingenuity and how all of them seem to have barely gotten released. 0:00 - Intro 1:20 - Sony (The Lady from Shanghai 4K, Run Lola Run 4K) 22:50 - Vinegar Syndrome (Invasion USA 4K) 42:10 - Shout (House of Gucci 4K, Bill and Ted's Most Triumphant Trilogy 4K) 1:07-12 – New TV & Theatrical Titles 1:10:02 – New Blu-ray Announcements

This week: Joe pays tribute to Al Ready, a mentor to Joe and a Hollywood legend (created Walker: Texas Ranger, among several other classics). Joe went to the movies and LOVED The Fall Guy. Originally published on The Jenny Position on 7/13/22, this episode of You Heard About Pluto is part of the Flash'n Back series right here on NoSo! I will be sharing these intermittently throughout the year to relive some of my favorite shows. Enjoy! In this edition of You Heard About Pluto, Jenny welcomes returning guest Tim Slomka to watch an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger! Few men are as iconic as Chuck Norris for some undefinable reason. Jenny and Tim talk about that plus watching the show at Grandma's house, dogs, various cleaning products, Fire Walker Texas Ranger, the perfect margarita mix, lame eBay purchases, the Chuck Norris jokes origin, inexplicable cell phone technology and so much more! Chuck Norris does not sleep, he waits… on Pluto TV!
"ROYAL BLOOD!" Well, Cannonheads. The Cannon Bros (Frank & Geoff) have one last Cannon hurrah before shooting up the coffin of The Cannon Canon. The Cannon Canon is taking an indefinite hiatus (possibly returning with a new format/focus in the future) and what better way to send us off than with Cannon's "final" movie, HELLBOUND! In this episode, The Cannon Bros reminisce about their 4-year run and FINALLY try Bronson's cologne, Mandom! We chat about the wild tone shifts of Hellbound, the proto-Walker Texas Ranger vibes, the heavy lifting of acting from Calvin Levels and of course...thuddy quips from the “black hole of comedy”, Molasses 2x4! Thank you to everyone who listened and supported the show! Especially to our Patreon members and also to the author of The Cannon Film Guide series himself, Austin Trunick. We thought we'd be the future! But then Marion Cobretti pointed his gun at us and said, "No. You're history". Thanks for everything, Cannon fans. We join Walker as he ventures into an underground prison fighting ring to battle “Macho Man” Randy Savage, "The Hammer" and a corrupt prison lieutenant portrayed by Marshall Teague. Teague's real life taunts may have altered Evan's rating of this episode... you be the judge. Happy Halloween! This week, we welcome Megan Sunday to the podcast to discuss martial arts and devil worship while covering the extra spooky, extra satany Walker, Texas Ranger episode "The Children of Halloween." Exactly how many children does cult leader Lucifer need to sacrifice on Halloween night? How did he know how to build a sophisticated bomb? Why are there two Kate McKinnon characters in this episode? All that, plus Skinner's obsession with Tony Danza finally pays off (sort of). If you like the show, give us a rating on Apple Podcasts. And follow us on X (formerly Twitter) at @weirdcenter (for now) or Instagram/Threads at @weirdnesspodcast (where you can suggest TV shows we should cover on the podcast)!
