A reboot of The Wolf Man franchise, the film stars Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, and Sam Jaeger. The plot follows a family man seeking to protect his wife and daughter from a werewolf, only to become infected and slowly transform into the creature. Jason Blum produces alongside his Blumhouse Productions banner. We then discuss 'I'm Still Here' (Ainda Estou Aqui), a 2024 political biographical drama film directed by Walter Salles from a screenplay by Murilo Hauser and Heitor Lorega, based on Marcelo Rubens Paiva's 2015 memoir of the same name. It stars Fernanda Torres and Fernanda Montenegro as Eunice Paiva, a mother and activist coping with the forced disappearance of her husband, the dissident politician Rubens Paiva (Selton Mello), during the military dictatorship in Brazil. Lastly, we talk 'Bulworth', a 1998 American political satire black comedy film co-written, co-produced, directed by, and starring Warren Beatty. It co-stars Halle Berry, Oliver Platt, Don Cheadle, Paul Sorvino, Jack Warden, and Isaiah Washington. The film follows the title character, California Senator Jay Billington Bulworth (Beatty), as he runs for re-election while trying to avoid a hired assassin. Our Podcast Artist is the incredibly talented Vero (she/they) of Praxisstvdio who you should check out here: https://linktr.ee/praxisstvdioTwitch: http://www.twitch.tv/cmpostingThe Cumposting Power Ranking: https://letterboxd.com/cumposting/list/cumposting-all-movies-watched-ranked/Donate: https://throne.com/cumpostingSend Us a Voice Message: https://www.speakpipe.com/cumpostingReddit (Cringe): https://www.reddit.com/r/cumpostingpod/Follow Rosa: https://www.youtube.com/@ReddestRosaFollow Joku: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6MqDAGSrKEVBzHtgBBbT0wIrish Shorts Editor Rosaburgs: https://x.com/marxlsmusFeaturing music from @newjazzunderground Outro guitar solo performed by @djangoklumppguitarImage of the Week: https://imgur.com/a/2H9gxCUChapters:0:00 Intro10:51 'Wolf Man' (2025) Review & Analysis23:55 Scoring & Ranking 'Wolf Man'24:31 Jokulands Glucks30:23 'I'm Still Here' (2024) Review & Analysis55:06 Scoring & Ranking 'I'm Still Here'56:17 'Bulworth' (1998) Review & Analysis1:07:09 Scoring & Ranking 'Bulworth'1:07:43 Q&A1:11:38 Album Time No. 21:13:06 Next Week's Films & Outro

This bonus episode also features another classic RP Skype screen-share moment as FFF shows Geraint and I a clip from a movie where Matthew Perry teaches some inner-city kids about America's early presidents through the medium of rap music (I, in turn, recommend Bulworth to him, following my earlier recommendation of Cimino's Clint Eastwood-starring directorial debut Thunderbolt & Lightfoot). - JFR

For the second time this year, we discuss a Warren Beatty movie! This time for his 1998 political satire: Bulworth. Leading an all-star cast that includes some of our favorite character actors like Oliver Platt, Jack Warden, Wendell Pierce, and Laurie Metcalf, the movie was also directed by Beatty with a script that was worked on by the likes of Aaron Sorkin and James Toback. The mics kept rolling after this episode as we discussed another political satire from the year prior, Wag the Dog. We begin a new year of the show this week, and kick off the campaign by welcoming These Estates and Oiseaux musician and Briarpatch publisher John Cameron for an unseen selection from his collection, a prescient political satire that is now 52 years old but could release today with few alterations and still feel timely. It's 1972's The Candidate, directed by Michael Ritchie, and starring Robert Redford, Peter Boyle, Melvyn Douglas, Don Porter, Allen Garfield, Karen Carlson and Michael Lerner. It's a comedy without any jokes that still manages to be fairly funny, at least when its bleak political outlook doesn't feel equal parts harrowing and deadly accurate. Plus: J Mo's hooked on Pocket Card Jockey, while Hayley and John are willing to die for Casino Regina. Other works discussed on this episode include Oppenheimer, Dune: Part Two, Aquaman & The Last Kingdom, Beau Is Afraid, The Devils, Go, Ocean's Eleven, Bulworth, Fletch, Fletch Lives, season 6 of The West Wing, Parks & Recreation, The Thick of It, In The Loop, Death of Stalin, The Newsroom (CBC), The Ides of March, Our Brand Is Crisis, and Lions For Lambs among many more. If you'd like to watch The Candidate before listening to our discussion, some maniac has posted the entire movie for free on YouTube. And we thank them. We'll be back next week as Year 2 on the pod continues with a shot at redemption for two top stars who have recently wronged us on the pod by being in movies we watched that were not good. Yes, Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer can completely redeem themselves as we'll be back to watch 1994's Tombstone, a 90s VHS classic that somehow both hosts have never seen before. It's currently streaming on Disney+ if you want to watch it, and of course we're wrapping up the month the week after with our monthly canon submission, Christopher Nolan's TENET. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

What's the deal with pharmacists? Why are they so agitated all the time? Mike's new Cool Hand Luke drops has him feeling like the movie is spoiled for him. We debut a new segment featuring Luke! It's called Luke Explains Bad Religion! This week's selection is Modern Man, but Mike makes the mistake of thinking it was Man On A Mission. At any rate, we hope you enjoy our new entertainment offering. Mike was hoping to get another rendition of Scott's plan, but it didn't happen with Drake's I'm Upset. Mike also never knew the band Shai Hulud was a Dune reference until a couple months ago. Crypto hell has Scott recalling why he got into it in the first place. Is crypto over? That's for you to decide. It's mainstream as hell now, that's for sure. This week's email inbox is jam packed with several emails. Thank you as always! Brian has Cool Hand Luke spoilers so be forewarned. Arian Foster also comes up as the man who had the courage to come out as an atheist in the NFL. No easy task. Madonna was in Dick Tracy. Was Warren Beatty overrated? Luke has kind words to say about Bulworth. What's your favorite pasta noodle? How easy is it for artists to sell themselves for advertising? Velveeta Shells and Cheese shows us it's pretty easy. Mike forgot to give props to Any Given Sunday for the greatest sports movies ever. Willie Beamen has the ladies creamin. Why did SMH become so popular? Danny tries to bait the show by asking us what we would do if were in charge of the legislature. We know what you're up to Danny. May 22nd, 1998. Warren Beatty's political dark comedy Bulworth hit the theatrical campaign trail after Beatty's eight year absence from the silver screen. Following the mild disappointment of Dick Tracy, Warren Beatty came back with a biting take on the racial hypocrisy of Clinton era Democrats and the endless empty promises from politicians. While it barely made it's budget back and ended up failing in the box office, Bulworth garnered a cult following from critic and audiences alike. Even 44th President of the United States Barack Obama as admitted to be a fan. On this week's episode, New Jersey underground hip-hop legend Seth "The Wrist" Michaels joins host Liam Wolfe to express his love for Warren Beatty and late 90's hip hop in an epic two hour conversation. We get into the massive album (that was way more popular than this movie), rapping Warren Beatty, Paul Sorvino being obviously evil, coke head Oliver Platt, jive talk, Halle Berry's tongue dance, Cypress Hill being overrated after 1994, the rise and fall of Cannabis (the rapper) and much much MUCH MORE. So send in your ballots and join this cinephile filibuster as we go into Bulworth here... ON BOMBED!

With Charles Grodin's passing two weeks ago, an appreciation of his under-appreciated career can't neglect what is most inarguable his finest cinematic (two-)hour(s): Martin Brest's 1988 buddy comedy co-starring Grodin and Robert De Niro, in his first studio starring comedy role. Ted Haycraft and I are joined by the film's editor Billy Weber on this episode, which triples as not only an appreciation of the film, but also the careers of director Brest and Weber's. We discuss:- what childhood movie inspired Billy's only directed feature;- how his circuitous path through older editor's union rules led him to watching The Exorcist 150 times;- why helping a then-film student Brest while working in Taxi Driver's editing room didn't necessarily lead to future work;- but being rejected by a director for not having “box-office success” opened up his schedule to edit Beverly Hills Cop for Brest.Also:- why the film's centerpiece scene is the reunion might be the key to the genre “gumbo” that makes the film so rewatchable;- how Billy's interest in improv acting helped him blur the line between editing naturalistic and star-making performances;- the version of Brest's Gigli that was a good film before studio reshoots; - and how stupid it is that that film's questionable reputation has left Brest where “no one will take his calls.” This one's full of some great stories.Billy Weber is a two-time Oscar nominee entering his sixth decade editing features. He's worked on multiple films for such directors as Terrence Malick, Martin Brest, Walter Hill, Tony Scott, and Warren Beatty. His credits include, among others: Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Warriors, Beverly Hills Cop I and II, Top Gun, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, The Thin Red Line, Bulworth, Rules Don't Apply, and The Predator.Midnight Run is streaming on HBO Max and available on Blu-ray from Shout! Movie-lovers David Cairns and Fiona Watson examine political satires from the late nineties: Costa-Gavras' MAD CITY, Barry Levinson's WAG THE DOG, Mike Nichols' PRIMARY COLORS and, best of all, Warren Beatty's audacious and unique BULWORTH.
This month, Emma and Steve discuss the 1998 classic Bulworth. From it's scorching soundtrack to its depiction of South Central LA this is an underrated classic. It also has a lot to say about modern debates such as the failure of the third way centrists and the desire people have for more authenticity in their politicians, even if that is personified in a rapping Warren Beatty.
On today's episode I talk to screenwriter and activist Jeremy Pikser. Originally on his way to be a teacher, Jeremy instead became a screenwriter after a series of events led him to be a "special consultant" and uncredited writer on the film Reds, which was nominated for an Academy Award for screenplay. He's written a number of other films as well, including The Lemon Sisters with Diane Keaton and Elliott Gould, War, Inc. with John Cusack and Bulworth with Warren Beatty. The screenplay for Bulworth was nominated for many awards including the Academy, Golden Globe, and WGA awards and was the winner of the LA Film Critics Best Screenplay award.
