Have you ever wondered what happened to Rick Munro from Degrassi Junior High? Craig Driscoll, now a successful tattoo artist in California, stopped by Degrassi: School's In to chat with Eevee about the tenth episode of Degrassi Junior High, "Smokescreen", his experiences being on Degrassi for two seasons, and his life since! A brief episode synopsis of Smokescreen: Rick joins the environmental action committee to impress Caitlin. Meanwhile, Yick would rather make up a family history for a project than tell the class he is a Laotian immigrant. Eevee and Craig get to the bottom of important questions and topics such as: - How did Craig feel about the content of "Smokescreen" at the time of filming? - What does he remember about working with late director and Degrassi co-creator Kit Hood? - Would he ever attend a Degrassi convention or event? - Did he ever visit the set of Degrassi High after leaving the cast of Junior High? (spoiler: yes, and there's a great story!) - Would he eat a hamster? (spoiler: also yes, and...uhh... an interesting follow-up question)

This week on End Credits, we unofficially kick off the new year by getting into some new movie reviews. Our pick this week hails from Mexico, but it has some surprisingly familiar themes if you're a big fan of stories about teenage romance. Speaking of teenage-based drama, let's just say this week's show is a boon if you're looking for something to watch in that genre! This Wednesday, January 12, at 3 pm, Adam A. Donaldson and Candice Lepage will discuss: Naught Another Teen Movie. Before we dive into this week's movie, which is a teen romance melodrama on Netflix, we will spend the first part of this week's show talking about other teen drama you can find on various streamers. From a gender-switch take on a turn of a century classic to a west coast answer to Degrassi High, from a franchise we've visited before on this show to the seedy underbelly of Palm Springs (?), we're teen crazy this week. REVIEW: Anonymously Yours (2021). You ever get a text from someone you don't know who thinks they're texting with someone else? Did it ever end with you finding true love? Well this is the movie for you! Two Mexican teens - Vale and Alex - are you're average, everyday high school seniors both anticipating and dreading the end of school, but then a case of mistaken textual identity brings them into each other's orbit. Will Vale and Alex figure out that they're secretly texting each other while also falling in love IRL? What do you think, and what do we think? End Credits is on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca Wednesday at 3 pm.

We watched the iconic Degrassi High finale School's Out (1992). The movie primarily focuses on the relationship between Joey and Caitlin, which is sabotaged by Joey's infidelity with Tessa Campanelli. Today we have Kolby Knickerbocker on the show. Shay & Kolby discuss his new EP Over and Over.  Kolby hails from Bend, Oregon in the United States where he creates incredibly soulful folk music filled with tributes to community, his family & his experiences. FOR RELEASE February 10, 2021 BEND, OREGON (January 25, 2021) - Kolby Knickerbocker announces the release of the single “Over and Over” on February 10. A modern take on the 50's doowop of Otis Redding and Ben King, the song is dedicated to his wife as a reminder that his love will not waiver. Mixed by Sean Moffitt (Mat Kearney, Josh Groban, Ingrid Michaelson), it's the title track off the upcoming mixed EP due out April 2. Commitment. Stability. Love. A testament that no matter how difficult it gets, no matter how strong the emotion, no matter the challenge, he'll always be there. That's the message Knickerbocker wanted to send to his wife in the song, “Over and Over.” To reinforce the message, he recorded 15 separate vocal parts to recreate a gospel choir effect. The result is intimate, raw, and powerful. Knickerbocker says, “This song is very special to me as I think of my daughter and son when I hear the lyrics. Knowing that they will one day feel the emotion that I have for their mother, my wife, and knowing that they will one day be able to really hear the dedication that we had as a couple is very personal and special to me.” While the title track is about coming back to love and relationship “Over and Over,” the EP's title has a double meaning behind it. The EP is a nod to Knickerbocker's feelings about being a musician. He says, “It can be draining, with long nights and lots of hard work, but I always come back to it because it is something that I love to do. It is endlessly challenging and endlessly fulfilling, so I will come back to writing songs and being a musician Over and Over, no matter how challenging.” About Kolby Knickerbocker Knickerbocker started his professional musical career early on, releasing his first album with Kitty's Musicbox (2004) as a sophomore in college. He has since released an additional full-length album Red Dust (2015) and two EPs, Rodello's Machine (2012) and Animus (2016). Nate Donnis who's received industry attention from the BBC's series “Skins” and the PBS series Roadtrip Nation, appeared on Rodello's Machine. Knickerbocker has received critical acclaim from industry tastemakers including Indie Shuffle and KCRW. His music has been featured in television shows like MTV's Degrassi High, 90210, Heart Signal, and Barely Breathing. https://youtu.be/MWCNThMW9Cw The lyric video to the second single of the Over and Over EP. Lyrics: Pray, God please help me live this day Bring peace and joy Let these memories stay And this I know, To love her always Mmmm… Pray, God please help me live this day Let beauty overwhelm me Take my breath away And when the years have gone Watching the setting sun May these memories Of her Stay beautiful Amen https://youtu.be/Qwsbwcra0ow The lyric video to the title track single, "Over and Over". Lyrics: It's been a long day It's been a long year It's been a long life And I'm still loving you Through mistakes and heartaches Through kisses and words unkind Through silent nights I'm still loving you Lay your head down Breathe in and breathe out Cause I will love you Over and over again Live, laugh, and love Lay your worries aside I will love you Over and over again There is nothing you could say Nothing you could do, to turn me away I will love you the best I can Over and over again Darling, you could leave me You could run for the hills I'll be waiting For you to come home I know your heart is wild And impossible to please So I'll be waiting For you to come home Lay your head down Breathe in and breathe out Cause I will love you Over and over again Live, laugh, and love Lay your worries aside I will love you Over and over again There is nothing you could say Nothing you c...

Pat Mastroianni played Joey Jeremiah on Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High (and, later, on Degrassi: The Next Generation). The pre-Internet incarnations of Degrassi – all shot on location in Toronto-area schools – built a massive fanbase for tackling topics that weren't being broached anywhere else on children's television: interracial dating; sexual violence and child abuse; teen suicide; drunk driving; epilepsy; depression; grief; abortion; bullying; poverty; teen pregnancy; AIDS; burgeoning sexuality. The original shows explored all of these heavy topics with kids playing their actual age – and, despite the gravity of the subject matter, Degrassi was entertaining. It was fun – Joey wore a fedora and formed a band called The Zit Remedy with Wheels and Snake in which they only played one song (“Everybody Wants Something”) – and it was relatable. It was must-see TV for an entire generation of Canadian kids whose adoration knew no bounds. And now we're all grown up. Where are our Degrassi kids now? How did Degrassi change their lives? And do they know how much they meant to us Canadian kids? And thanks to Joey Jeremiah – AKA Pat Mastroianni – we don't have to wait any longer for answers. Pat is the filmmaker behind a new documentary called A Narbo's Guide to Being a Broomhead, which unfolds during Degrassi Palooza, a three-day cast reunion weekend in Toronto attended by fans from all over the world. Pat intercuts poignant and funny moments from the reunion weekend with camcorder footage and personal photos from behind the scenes at Degrassi. The result is a film that gives viewers a front row seat to a one-of-a-kind fan experience, and also insight into the many ways the young actors were impacted by their time in Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High. It's a funny and moving documentary for the generation of Canadians who grew up with Snake and Wheels and Caitlin and Joey, and get an inside look into one of the most iconic and groundbreaking series to come out of Canada. Brian and Joe discuss Enola Holmes on Netflix starring Millie Bobby Brown. Harman has been doing a lot of reading lately and catches us up on 3 books that you should definitely check out. Also, Harman takes us on a trip to Canada and talks about revisiting Degrassi High. Brian watched the new thriller Alone where a recently widowed traveler is kidnapped by a cold blooded killer, only to escape into the wilderness where she is forced to battle against the elements as her pursuer closes in on her. In TV Brian and Joe talk about the new series Utopia on Amazon Prime Video where a group of young adults, who meet online, get a hold of a cult underground graphic novel, which not only pins them as a target of a shadowy deep state organization, but also burdens them with the dangerous task of saving the world. Brian also talks about the first episode of The Murders At White House Farm on HBO Max. In News we’re getting a spin-off of The Boys. In Marvel News we talk about the super confusing trailer for WandaVision. Black Widow, Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings have all been pushed to 2021. And we’re getting a Nick Fury Disney+ series starring Samuel L. Jackson. In DC News we’re getting a Peacemaker series starring John Cena on HBO Max. The DCEU has it’s Hawkman in Aldis Hodge. And The Snydercut is gonna cost a little more than expected and we’re getting reshoots. And in Star Wars news if we’re to believe Giancarlo Esposito it looks like we’re getting seasons 3 and 4 of The Mandalorian. If you were a high-achieving teenager in the Eighties or early Nineties, there was only one way for you to get through feeling overwhelmed by all the pressure: amphetamines. Or at least it seemed that way on television. Over the course of this episode, I look at four episodes where teenagers turn to speed (okay, sometimes it's caffeine pills) to help them get through midterms, finals, a geometry test, or a crazy workload, all from the 1980s and 1990s. It begins with Degrassi High, and then moves on to three classic NBC sitcoms: Family Ties, Saved By the Bell, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Are their messages effective? Are they as lame as they seemed back then? Or are they sending another message altogether? Action Hero arrives in Melbourne bringing a light Americana teeny boppy show "Whatever it takes" the banner read on the gym decorated theatre. Lines like these that seemingly belonged in a Degrassi High after school special were particularly prevalent in the UK groups show. It relied on the underdog team standing up against great grief and overcoming it all. The plot relied on spectacle and capturing this culture of teen movies. This was hard at first for many of the more elite theatre goers who joked later that this "was the closest they got to a sport game in their life". Action Hero, created by Gemma Paintin and James Stenhouse, is a company that focuses on theatre, performance and live art. The company has been particularly noted for their ability to involve the audience continuously. Hoke's Bluff was no different. The audience had to walk on the stage in order to get to their seats and whilst doing so the actors invited them to collect popcorn. As soon as you sat down there was a flag and the Hoke's Bluff team mascot encouraged all to cheer and get involved. Minor characters like Tyler were played by the audience. At first it was hard to follow the characters in the play. There were only 3 performers on stage and the scene changes were quite abrupt but as the play furthered it became clearer. It was both a story on teen triumph in sport and all the knitty gritty of growing up including the awkward teen romance. The cheerleader Connie and the sport star Conor were the protagonists of this show. Music was a big part of the show. Songs like Flashdance were expected at any time as the show went from Minaj to some generic 80s Power Ballad. The show ended, the team had won. How does Captain Picard know parkour? Why is Vincent Schiavelli so great in everything he's in? Will Geordi be happy to know that Dr. Crusher knows so much about roots? This is one episode that's not expendable!

It's our big 25th episode and to celebrate we're not only borrowing a signature topic from our podcasting brothers The Atomic Geeks but one of the Geeks as well, Michael DiGiovanni. DiGio sits in for our own take on “Its A Re-Do” as we tackle America's favorite teen angsty Superman show, Smallville. Listen to find out if we think the show needed more tights, more flight, or more Degrassi High. This week's Nerd To-Dos run the gamut from Buck Rogers to DC Comics, plus the weekend for Pax's viewing if Episode I in 3D has finally arrived.
