Leesa Charlotte (Sweetbitter Podcast) returns to the show to talk about Jordana Brewster and Devon Aoki in D.E.B.S.! After Lisa gives us a brief history of gay cinema, Joey talks about Holland Taylor in Bosom Buddies. We admire Jordana Brewster as the villainous Lucy Diamond (especially her lip syncing scene) in a role that finally lets her have fun, and we equally admire Devon Aoki's ability to... be French and smoke cigarettes. We talk about the hidden test within the SAT, the Jordana Brewster/Jimmi Simpson dynamic, and the Toretto-esque cop and criminal love story. We make our picks for our favorite spy tech in the movie and ask an Australian about Lucy's plan to destroy Australia (which pivots into talk about Australia in movies and TV, which in turn pivots into talk about LOST and The Leftovers). We then turn out focus to the Fast & Furious: A Musical Parody that we all saw in the past week. We talk about why we evaluate it differently than most people, what we liked and what we wished was different, and why they decided to portray Roman the way they did. RXNT is not for everyone! But everyone will benefit from their software! If you are a medical practicve, this is the episode for you! RXNT was started here in Annapolis 25 years ago by Randy Boldyga to develop a better way to control medical records and prescriptions for doctors and medical practices worldwide. Today, the software is deplyed in more than 300 countries across the globe. Randy joins me on the phone this afternoon! But despite the global success, RXNT has remembered their roots and remains firmly planted here in Annapolis. From the bottom floor of his home, to a single house on West Street, to two houses on West Street to their much larger corporate headquarters on Whitehall Road--they never forgot where they came from and have been giving back ever since. RXNT and the Boldyga's names can be found in AAMC's Denim & Diamonds, Bosom Buddies, The Light House, and more! Truly a great success story that is still being written. Have a listen! “Bosom Buddies” is a sitcom that aired on ABC from 1980 to 1982. The show starred Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari as two single men who disguise themselves as women to be able to move into a cheap apartment at a women-only residence. The show often explored themes of gender stereotypes and male/female relationships, using the characters' disguises to create comedic situations. Although “Bosom Buddies” started with good ratings, it struggled to maintain its audience and was canceled after two seasons. Despite its short run, the show is notable for launching Tom Hanks' career, who went on to become an Oscar-winning actor. Is this a show worth checking out? Could this show even be made modern day? Listen as the guys deep dive the show's pilot episode. Starring: Tom Hanks, Peter Scolari, Donna Dixon, Holland Taylor, Telma Hopkins, Wendie Jo Sperber, & Edie Adams www.S1E1POD.com MERCH Instagram & X (Twitter): @S1E1Pod

As Apple (and Etta James) promised, "At Last"; the original cut of "Let It Be" is available! Only streaming, no LaserDisc, you wackers Radio Shackers. Speaking of LASIK, Apple's marketing team would have you believe the last time this film was seen was "54 years ago today". #WhenIm64Minus12Plus2 In reality, the last time this core, historically vital film was available was in 1981, but it struggled to compete with season 2 of "Bosom Buddies" and quickly fell out of print. Tony and T.J., who played John and Paul in VH1's "Two Of Us", instantly react to the greatest this film has ever looked or sounded, and also, dig these ponies:

Cary Odes has been a standup comic for 45 years, coming up through the ranks at the legendary Comedy Store in Los Angeles, sharing the stage with David Letterman, Richard Pryor and Robin Williams, under the tutelage of Mitzi Shore, where he was the very first paid regular. More importantly to Ojai, he's been teaching standup comedy here in Ojai for more than 20 years, turning a bunch of boring schlubs into comic dynamos, presenting their "tight fives" to adoring crowds. On Sunday, April 14th, his latest batch of comics will perform to a sold-out audience at Kim Maxwell Studios, with another show planned for Friday, April 18th. We talked about how Cary got into comedy as an extension of him and a friend entertaining themselves, then realizing in college that he had a special talent for making people laugh. After studying in Chicago with the improvisational great Del Close, Cary nearly got his big break on the show "Bosom Buddies," and had his role snatched by a then-unknown Tom Hanks, and has steadily worked every since, touring the country, and now teaching his eight-week master classes in which students learn the components and craft of a joke (the premise, the setup, the act out, the turn) and perform the alchemy in which they take their pain and vulnerabilities and turn into the healing balm of laughter. We talked about how his style has evolved over the years, the joys of teaching, anecdotes from the trenches of the standup circuit, how to bomb on stage gracefully, and how comedy might be the Next Big Thing in the healing arts. We did not talk about kitchen knife-sharpening techniques, wolverine-trimmed parkas or the voyages of the HMS Beagle. Check out more about Cary at his website, thestandupworkshop.com where you can sign up for a class, or private lessons, or enter a joke contest. And here for some of his vintage work and fashion stylings ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41jjW4KPUWc

One would have an easier time charting the areas Rita Wilson hasn't excelled in than those in which she has. From early turns on television, on shows such as The Brady Bunch and Bosom Buddies—alongside her future husband, Tom Hanks, on the latter—to starring roles on the silver screen and Broadway stage, to her work as a producer (Mamma Mia!, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and A Man Called Otto), Wilson has left her fingerprints on classics both past and present. And that's to say nothing of her enviable music career, which has now yielded a fifth album, Rita Wilson Now & Forever: Duets. On this week's episode of Table for Two, Wilson joins host Bruce Bozzi to discuss her recent project, growing up in L.A. in the 70s, her friendship with Nora Ephron, and how Bruce Springsteen convinced her to start writing music later in life. When you listen, you'll get it.

“Sonny Boy” (February 12, 1981) Is it surprising that TV's most famous drag sitcom never dared to do anything actually gay? It shouldn't be! And for all that could end up going wrong with this premise, this episode, concerning Peter Scolari's character having to explain to his mother why he's wearing a dress, weirdly (and probably accidentally) gets a lot right about coming out. It's a story about someone saying it doesn't matter whether anyone understands your decision. As Billy Joel once said, “I don't care what you say anymore / This is my life / Go ahead with your own life / Leave me alone.” Since Bosom Buddies isn't streaming anywhere, you can watch this episode on our Vimeo. And make sure to interact with new Wakanda Forever locations on MCU Location Scout. Enjoy Giving T Hanks! This week we try to narrow down a large body of quality work from America's Dad, Tom Hanks. The actor, who started his career out of college, having been unable to even get a role in college plays, rocketed to stardom. He started on TV with some small parts and partnering up with Peter Scolari on Bosom Buddies. But when Splash gained so much success, producers and directors started using him more in bigger roles. He had a series of successful comedies in the 80's like Bachelor Party (1984), The Money Pit (1986), Dragnet (1987), and Turner and Hooch (1989). Big really shot Hanks's popularity in 1988, and he started dipping his toe in some romance roles like Joe versus the Volcano (1990), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), and You've Got Mail (1998). And his role as Woody in Toy Story (1995) continues to evolve and become popular and has even inspired a new Disney park area. But it was his role in the drama Philadelphia (1993) that won him his first Oscar, only to be followed up the following year with Forrest Gump (1994) with another Oscar. Plus other incredible performances in Apollo 13 (1995), Saving Private Ryan (1998), and The Green Mile (1999) He continues to create well-liked films with humor, drama, and emotion into the 21st century with memorable roles in movies like Cast Away (2000), Saving Mr. Banks (2013), and Elvis (2022) Are you a fan of Tom Hanks? What are some of your favorite performances? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Life is like a box of chocolates” will get a special mention on the show. Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

Papa Roach. Eminem. A Perfect Circle. STP... it can ONLY be The Year 2000. The Bosom Buddies have reunited in the nü garage just so they can travel back in time twenty-two years to see what all the cool kids were listening to during modern rock's dark ages. This is our last resort.
