Last night, the Nuggets survived a late rally by the Lakers and won 120-113. Denver won wire-to-wire and made some strides, as Jokic and Murray had solid performances. Nuggets play the Knicks tonight and Aaron Gordon is expected to return to the starting line-up. How different will the team will look with him on the court? Also, the Avalanche have their 3rd line center—as they traded a conditional 1st round pick and a 5th round pick to Toronto for Nicolas Roy. How much does this move the needle on the Avs winning a Cup? The Avalanche and Stars face-off tonight in Dallas. These are the top two teams in the league and they've only played once this season—and it was the 3rd game of the year. Is it fair to say this is a measuring stick game for both teams? Finally, ESPN did its annual Top-100 player rankings and no Rockies made the list. Is this surprising at all? Tune in to a Friday episode of Hot Takes with Eric Goodman and Troy Renck! Do we dare? Yes, we do! It is NHL Trade Deadline Day! There were a few moves yesterday and a frenzy is expected before the noon deadline, but will the Kraken participate? The inconsistent play of the Kraken doesn't bode well for a strong playoff run, if they make the playoffs… and a trade for a big name sure could help bolster this offense. Is it a miss if they don't make a move? :30- It's NFL trade rumor season, are the Chicago Bears prepping to trade for Maxx Crosby? The Seahawks have reportedly been in talks to get Crosby, with rumors circulating that John Schneider has made a couple offers for the vet. Would it be smarter for the Seahawks to pass on a possible trade for Maxx Crosby and hang onto their draft capital and go for free agent Trey Hendrickson? :45- There's some serious beef between the National media guys! Florio and Schefter are going after each other on X and the beef is highly entertaining. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Craig begs for the Jets to make sure they don't do the dumb thing and bring in Tua Tagovailoa. Plus, how is it possible that a exhibition in the WBC brings more excitement than a regular season baseball game? It sounds impossible, but there is a slight chance that the Giants can shed enough Salary to get close to $100 Million dollars in salary cap. Plus, Craig and C-Mac rank the levels of dumb, and why Juan Soto seems more motivated playing in the WBC. Yaron sits down with Craig and C-Mac to talk about his latest book A Hollywood Ending: The Dreams and Drama of the LeBron Lakers. The news breaks during the show that legendary coach Lou Holtz has died at the age of 89.
Headlines and 12th Man news with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) With free agency starting on Monday, we get the latest from Gregg Bell on the futures of Ken Walker, Rashid Shaheed and the other big Seahawks free agents. How likely is it that more than 1 of them will return and who is most likely to return? Will the Seahawks be active in free agency and do they have the resources to pull in any big names? What about trade value- do the Seahawks have the means to pull off any big trades? What about comp picks- do the Seahawks have the possibility of getting any of those if they lose these free agents? :30- Lou Holtz passed away yesterday at the age of 89, so we remember the College Football Hall of fame coaching legend. :45- Could Kyler Murray's next move be to head to the A's organization and start his MLB career? Do we think he would have a chance to make it to the majors? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jets Draft Pick Changing NFLPA Reports Cards Cowherd AI and Play of the Day
Rich Dotson and Garret Price are back for one of their most popular yearly shows: the real value of rookie draft picks. With the Combine running and rookie drafts right around the corner, they break down where picks actually hit, where they turn into roster cloggers, and why “not worth a first” is meaningless unless you say which first. Garret lays out the scoring tiers they track to define outcomes. A “hit” requires at least one Tier 1 season, or multiple Tier 2 seasons, with thresholds adjusted by position. Quarterbacks need top six seasons to count as Tier 1, running backs and wide receivers need top 12, and tight ends need top three. The point is simple: if a player never reaches at least Tier 2, that pick never truly helped your starting lineup. After adding the 2024 class to the spreadsheet, they call out early hits already logged, including Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers, Drake Maye, Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey, Brian Thomas Jr., and Bo Nix, while noting plenty of names still need time to prove it. The biggest takeaway is the stability at the very top. Since 2018, the 1.01 has a 100% hit rate in their sample, and top four picks hit about three quarters of the time, with even more value when you include “mid” outcomes. After that, the first round becomes far less differentiated, and they point out an odd recent trend where 1.09 to 1.12 has slightly better results than 1.05 to 1.08. They dig into a possible reason: quarterbacks often get pushed into that 1.05 to 1.08 range in Superflex, and non-elite rookie quarterbacks are harder to “hit” by their definition. The broader lesson stays the same. Outside the top tier, it often makes sense to trade down, tier up into a proven veteran, or move picks into stronger future classes. They hammer the second round value drop. Once you get into the 2.01 to 2.12 range, the hit rate collapses, and third round picks become true dart throws. Their advice for contenders is aggressive: if you can turn a first into multiple years of a proven producer, that is usually the winning bet because many late firsts never become lineup players. Garret also tests a theory about late rookie drafts. If you trade late seconds and thirds for multiple fourths and fifths, the position most likely to return value is running back. Late-round running backs can become “ships to shore” quickly when injuries hit, and that short window can still flip into future seconds. They add that tight ends are often pushed down by the community chasing wide receivers, which can create value pockets in the late second and early third. After a blowout loss, Will Campbell reveals he played through a torn knee ligament and skipped the podium. Was he being honest or did it come off as making excuses. The guys debate whether athletes are better off saying nothing after tough losses and why injury explanations always land differently when they come from the player himself. The conversation then shifts to a major NFL offseason topic sparked by Adam Schefter, as reports suggest at least one team wants to extend how far into the future draft picks can be traded. Would moving from three years to five years help teams or completely mess with accountability. Plus, thoughts on proposed rule changes like replacing the onside kick with fourth-and-long and why some ideas sound smarter in theory than reality.
