Episode 275 is an interview with Kittser about his electronic project New Jackson. It may have felt like a side project when it debuted with The Night Mail EP in 2011, but over the last 14 years, the New Jackson releases have been so consistent across a multitude of EPs on Permanent Vacation, Hivern, All City, Maeve and more, with last year's second album Oops!... Pop softened the lines into a more techno pop songwriting style.Ahead of the New Jackson live show in Dublin on Saturday March 28th with support from Rory Sweeney and The Outside, his forthcoming album project with Efa O'Neill, we talk that collaboration, his new release as MMOTTORR with TR One , what he's learned from 30 years of DJing, living in Kerry, Spotify and Bandcamp discourse, and bucking the zeitgeist trends in dance music in 2025.David also picks some key influential New Jackson tracks from Joy Orbison, Wham!, Pépé Bradock, Carl Craig and The Egyptian Lover.* Support Nialler9 on Patreon, get event discounts, playlists, ad-free episodes and join our Discord communityListen on Apple | Android | ACAST | Patreon | Pocketcasts | CastBox | Stitcher | Spotify | RSS Feed | Pod.Link Hosted on Acast. Kindred know-it-alls Deon and Jay kick knowledge…f#@% it, you know where this is going. In the early 1970s, legendary collaborator and self-proclaimed non-musician Brian Eno famously designed a deck of 115 cards containing elliptical imperatives to spark in the user creative connections unobtainable through regular modes of work. He called his creation "Oblique Strategies." For the past half century, countless artists and professionals across the globe have benefited from utilizing the oblique strategies technique when attempting to overcome a lull in creative output. In 2024, kooky, knuckleheaded yet somehow still award-winning* hobby podcasters and self-proclaimed Lightnin' Lickers Jay and Deon found themselves uninspired when contemplating the potential theme of their upcoming thirty-ninth episode. Together, they decided... to default back to the alphabet. Because they have a reasonably solid grasp of the alphabet and how it works. They had previously utilized the letters A thru J, so naturally, they went with K. Our favorite selections from the K section in outr collections mixtape: [SIDE ONE] (1) Al Gromer Khan – Konya (2) John Krautner – I Need Sugar (3) Rahsaan Roland Kirk – Freaks for the Festival Part One (4) Kitchens of Distinction – Railwayed (5) Khruangbin featuring Nina Simone – Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair [SIDE TWO] (1) The Kingbees – Man Made for Love (2) Key-Matic – Breakin' in Space (3) Klark Kent – Away From Home (4) Kris Kristofferson – Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Goes (5) The Korgis – Perfect Hostess Sonic contributors to LLR podcast episode 39 include: Holland-Dozier-Holland, Brothers Johnson, Head Hunters, Sault, Blues Brothers, Donald Trump, The Alkoholiks, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Dreamville, J. Enjoy this week's episode with AIWASKA, the project from the mysterious producer with more than 20 years musical background. He has a hypnoticand spiritual sound, with organic chop elements. A perfect blend of Melodic House rhythm, with atmospheric basslines & hypnotic vocals. His production expertise has seen him deliver releases for such esteemed dance music imprints as Exploited, Crosstown Rebels, Bar 25 Music and House Music With Love. It's also bought him to collaborate with a whole host of legendary vocalists, such as Robert Owens, Roland Clark, Egyptian Lover, Aquarius Heaven, Starving Yet Full (ex. Azari & III) and more. He's been asked to deliver his unique style also to remixes for many dance music aficionados like Patrice Baumel, Eelke Kleijn, Jenia Tarsol & Kino Todo, Audiofly, Mihai Popoviciu, Tensnake, Dj Assault, Dj Feadz and more. It's this impressive back-catalogue that has seen him gather support from electronic music royalty like Solomun, Black Coffee, Damian Lazarus, Adam Port, &Me, Rampa, Claptone to name just a few. He performs in a mask as in Peru, when shamans make a ritual and go to a different reality, they put masks on. These masks reflect who they are and because of that, spirits recognise you as one of them. You also see coins on his hat because when you go to the world of spirits, you give these coins to them as a gift. Aiwaska is also doing an NFT project and series of events “Aiwaska Planet”. Within the framework of this project, he creates a movement of people who want to help the planet and the environment, and makes events which include elements of an immersive show and where the NFT part of the money is raised from. The sales from these events he donates to wild animals and the environment. He has a global fanbase and has performed at many established venues such as Burning Man Festival, Tulum, Ibiza and more. He has also recently started his own monthly radio show with the reputable Insomniac Radio / Sirius Xm (Usa) , Ibiza Sonica Radio , Ibiza Global Radio and Tulum DownTown Radio. His work has been highly praised by both DJ Mag Magazine & Mixmag Magazine over the past year or so, and a promising future lies in store for him no doubt. Cutting edge technology vs technically cutting edges... Nick and J talked about mixing and mastering vinyl records, Atmos vs Sony 260AR, how to listen to immersive audio, mixing for Halloween, old school vs modern low-end, and how to rescue a snare. Get access to FREE mixing mini-course: https://MixMasterBundle.com My guests today are Nick Townsend and J Clark joining us from Infrasonic West in Los Angeles. Nick Townsend's musical prowess is rooted in the punk rock scene. He began drumming for punk bands at the age of 16, and has been playing professionally ever since. His trained ears, and passion for music production, is owed to recording bands in his grandmother's garage. He attended the Audio Engineering School at Citrus College in Glendora, CA. He then landed his first audio job with Infrasonic Mastering in 2012 where he assisted Pete Lyman, while simultaneously learning the craft of vinyl mastering and lacquer cutting. Soon thereafter, he started his own Townsend Mastering until 2021 when he rejoined Infrasonic Los Angeles. Nick has mastered records for The Egyptian Lover, Militarie Gun, No Pressure, Fleshwater, Spanish Love Songs and many more, and specializes in vinyl mastering and lacquer cutting of over 2,000 vinyl records including artists such as Cheap Trick, Paramore, Weezer, Iron Maiden, Bad Religion, Garbage, Dr. Dre, 2pac, Grimes and more. His work can be identified by the hand scribed “NT” found on the lock groove of each vinyl. J Clark is an engineer, mixer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles, CA. He spent the majority of the late 90's and 2000's playing and touring in the bands Pretty Girls Make Graves, Killsadie, Jaguar Love, and Sharks Keep Moving. After moving to Los Angeles in 2010, he began composing music for ads and movies before expanding into post production; Re-Recording mixing, Sound Design, and Dialogue editing for film and television. In late 2020 he began mixing and mastering music in Dolby Atmos and Sony 360RA. His spatial credits include artists such as Jennifer Lopez, MK, The Hold Steady, Nelly, Nicky Jam, Marc Anthony, and many others. J's studio was designed and built in collaboration with PMC Loudspeakers, Dolby Laboratories, and Sony Home Entertainment and boasts an impressive 24 speakers! It's built to handle the present and future of multichannel sound for music, picture and gaming offering an 11.1.6 ATMOS and a 13.1 Sony360 array for the most precise playback and detail of your immersive projects. Many of you have asked me to release my mash ups and remixes from my podcasts as " singles ". I am starting a new series called VAULT.
We premiere new music from Austrian artist Peletronic as he features on RFR Records for a 4 track EP featuring a remix from electro royalty DMX Krew. We host ‘Sry I‘m Dazed AF' a vintage Miami-inspired electro cut that draws on gliding chords and pounding 808 punches. We premiere new music from RFR Records, one of the leading imprints in contemporary electro-funk. With previous releases from seminal artists such as DJ Hell, Zenker Brothers, Posthuman, Jerome Hill, and more, the label has been relentlessly pushing out top-tier electro and bass. The label now welcomes Vienna native Peletronic to the fold as he features with a four-track EP of slamming electro, and he's not afraid to get down and dirty. Best known for his tender excursions in classy deep house grooves, Peletronic turns his head to the sun-soaked Miami coast for a rough-edged electro EP. Peletronic manages to intertwine the lush chords and rich synth sweeps of his house music roots into a grittier electro package. ‘Sry I'm dazed AF' is a smoked-out ode to hazy days following a jaunt on the dancefloor. Peletronic clutches onto his deep house roots as shimmering chords trickle over ferocious 808 thuds. Peletronic blurs the lines between the plush sounds of Detroit and the raunchy Miami groove to devastating effect. This is where Moodyman & Egyptian Lover meet for a funk-driven night on the beer, and we can't get enough of it. We were lucky enough to sit down with Tracy Kendrick this week. A producer, mixer, and engineer behind some of the most influential Hip Hop and RnB records to ever come out of the west coast, and now an avid talented marathon runner. From his first record working with The Egyptian Lover to developing Dj Quik at a young age and now running the Boston Marathon next week we're not sure what Tracy cant do. Tracy gives us stories and wisdom of the past as well where he's at now with running and the overlapping qualities between two different lives. Hope you enjoy and we'll attach a playlist of some Tracy's bangers!
This week the boys recap the Who Cares reunion show with Egyptian Lover, discuss the Warriors return to excellence in the NBA, and have some helpful cooking tips for basic people.

We're back with another scorcher this week on @5on5pod joined by the one and only Bonks (@brandonnogood) as the boys dive down the rabbit hole for a battle between The Whispers and Egyptian Lover. This weeks episode mostly focuses on what it takes to survive in the music industry, different versions of “making it” “breaking it” and hacking it on the road away from home. The boys discuss the impact of pop music, the smoke and mirrors of streaming, and the impact on Lil Dicky's pivot into Dave. If you've ever wanted to work behind the scenes, tour manage, or DJ for an artist, this episode is definitely one to check out.
This week, Mark and Brendan are spending a lot of time with music from London, but there are also few curveballs. (Mark didn't love Brendan's main picks, but hey, that's baseball!) The lineup features LCY, Sault, The Bug, a new cut from Dreadzone meant to urge Britain's Euro 2020 team on to victory, and, twenty years on, an archive track from Fennesz. The bonus tracks this week are a more usual mix with Future Islands teaming up with The Egyptian Lover(!) and Bassbin Twins, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, an Impey remix, SG Lewis remixing a Bee Gee's classic, and Daði Freyr , an Icelandic Eurovision alum whose tune has more than 87 million streams(!), as of this writing. Enjoy the holiday weekend, if you are listening from the USA, and if in Europe, enjoy Euro 2020, as we heard toward the semi-finals. Rest of the world, well, I hope you enjoy summer or winter, as your location allows. If you are new, please take a second to sign up for our newsletter right here. We will not share your info, period. This is a two-man podcast, not a faceless corporation. We respect and your time far, far more than that. Peace, out!

Welcome to Showcasing House Music DJ Mixes by dattrax!! My best friend of over 20yrs and DJ partner (together we form 'dattrax') said that he read somewhere recently that music is perceived by humans in two very different ways. The first, is a reaction similar to, 'it's nice' and the second, the person feels it in their guts and it moves them! That's how I think house is like. When someone listens for the first time and most are like 'it's not my thing', or 'it's okay'. Then there are others like Jim and I and we're getting moved emotionally- goose bumps everywhere filled with anticipation and excitement and spine tingling joy. We're like: "What the @#**!!! is this and how can i get MORE???!!!!!" Like crack addicts when the first hi-hats and sick baselines enter our ears and into our minds and hearts. That's how we put together mixes, if we don't say 'WOW... that's a sweeeeeeeeeeeeet mix', then we DO NOT POST IT HERE. We don't lose our cookies when we hear a track, we don't buy it- it's that simple. So however you came to this site. Check out a few mixes, and if you're like 'well... it's alright', then thank you for stopping by and we hope you find something that moves you in your musical journey.OR you are going to FLIP RIGHT OUT when you hear these tracks we love and feverishly mixed with heart. The ritual behind it all and leading to this mix MOVES you deeply, and for a small fraction of time you forget your stresses in life and just relax, bob your head and smile.IF this is YOU, then "WELCOME FELLOW BROTHER OR SISTER!!"And we hope you return for the next mix.---------------Reach out to us and comment. Just Google 'dattrax' and you'll find all places online that we've been a part of. Please share with other like-minded individuals.---------------There's a PayPal donate button on the right if you're on our Podomatic site if you want to buy us a beer to say cheers ; )Our PayPal donation email if you are listening to our mixes on another platform. Bside Incoming: Detroit in Effect Well, well, well… this episode is a special one… we're very pleased to mark the century with a legend. It's Detroit in Effect for our 100th Episode! D.I.E have been electro royalty since the 90s, thriving in a city moulded by music: from local radio stations and musical communities, to Motown, Gospel and Parliament's Funk, through to the pioneering hip-hop infused electronic music of the modern era. There's a lot you could say about Detroit in Effect, but, their tracks speak for themselves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHz8HTeSDg4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwqphSKXhRE So we're flying you all out to Motor City to meet DJ Maaco from Detroit's finest electro collective. We're gonna take a little look into his record bag and pick out some of his all time favourite Bsides. While the first half reads like a Funky Hall of Fame, with Carl Carlton, Rick James and George Clinton, the second half tells us a little more about his D.I.E influences with electro legends like Cybotron, Egyptian Lover and Paul Hardcastle. Roland 808 - NAMM's TEC Hall of Fame Inductee for 2020 - 1000's of things have been created to help musicians create music. The folks at NAMM recognize the more important, musicians AND equipment, in the TEC Awards Hall of Fame. In 1980, Roland released the TR 808, or just the 808...and it remains among the most influential inventions ever-not just in music. It's compulsory for any serious producer still, 40 years after its release. Its presence in the market place is on par with the pipe-organ, 88-key piano and the electric guitar. Pete A Turner and Jon Leon Guerrero host a collection of producers who discuss the 808's role in music. These producers have worked with acts like U2, Christina Aguilera and Madonna--so they know music. Please welcome, Jamie Hartman, GRAMMY winner Dave Aude, Mike Cee, 12x Juno winning Gavin Brown Pay special attention to Don Lewis, and Egyptian Lover. Their role in the establishment of the 808 is unique and we're so very proud to feature their story in this episode. Look for more from all of these guests at Break It Down Show.com Awards Hall of Fame. Finally, a hat tip to our buddy Wes Maebe who helped inspire the concept behind this episode. Once again, Zach is joined by Harold and KaNisa for a track-by-track discussion of this underappreciated album, its resonances throughout Prince's career, and why it still matters. 00:00:00 Ray "Eye Patch" Sawyer and Dennis Locorriere of Dr. Hook Introduce Prince--and Prince Performs "I Wanna Be Your Lover”--on The Midnight Special, 1980 00:01:08 KaNisa's Muse 2 the Pharaoh Podcast 00:01:30 Harold's First Appearance on d / m / s / r 00:01:39 Harold's Presentation from the Lovesexy 30 Symposium at NYU https://vimeo.com/282043757 00:02:49 Our First Review Podcast of For You 00:08:33 For You's Album Cover vs. Prince's Photo by Joe Giannetti, © Warner Bros. Ransom Note enters the world of conversation as we launch our new Podcast series with our very own Joe Europe. Episode one is brought to you by Rode Microphones... South London's musical history goes way back but, over the last couple of years, one of the cornerstones of the scene has undoubtedly been Rye Wax. Part record shop, part music venue, part taco joint, the multifaceted organisation situated in the basement of the Bussey Building seemed to become one of the key creative hubs in Peckham almost as soon as it opened its doors. Right from the get go the Rye Wax team focused on pushing local artists, labels and parties which has given the shop a strong sense of community. But, as they mark their second birthday, has it been a smooth ride so far and what is it like to operate in a climate of club closures and tight profit margins? On a sticky night in August Joe Europe sat down with the shop's management team to chew the fat, discussing setting up the shop, the ever-changing musical landscape and watching football with Egyptian Lover. Listen to the podcast, brought to you courtesy of Rode microphones whom without this would never have been possible...
