Hi Neighbor, Is it possible to experience hope and healing after a tragic decision? Today's episode features an incredible story of faith, healing, and advocacy for life. Joining me is my neighbor from North Texas, Jeff Bradford. Jeff serves as president of Human Coalition, one of the largest Pro-Life organizations in America. He and his wife, Tricia, have personally experienced the trauma of aborting their first child in 1992, but have found strength in each other and God. Jeff's message is clear: Understanding life issues requires empathy, wisdom, and an open mind. We must recognize the deep suffering of women impacted by abortion. It's important to talk about the issue of life in winsome and graceful ways. Whether we're encouraging women facing crisis pregnancies to either parent their child or consider adoption, let's commit to providing them the support they need. Hope and healing are on the way. For years, Jeff and Tricia Bradford kept their abortion a secret from their friends and church community. “We hid our story, because of the deep shame and regret that we had,” Jeff Bradford says. The couple was engaged when Tricia, then 20, learned she was pregnant. "Fear didn't waste a second coming into that conversation and shame," she said. "And so, we just immediately thought, ‘What are we going to do?'" The couple reached out to a family member and received some “terrible advice,” the husband says, adding that a few days later, he and his wife “ended up at Planned Parenthood, and we took the life of our first daughter, and we didn't talk about it for 17 years.” Even being active members in their church, the couple says, they “sat in the pew silent” because no one in their community talked about the issue of life or abortion. But counseling and a connection with two pro-life leaders led the couple down a road that changed their lives. Today, Jeff Bradford serves as president of Human Coalition, a pro-life organization that aims to help women choose life, and the couple have four children. Now, 32 years after aborting their first baby, the Bradfords are sharing their story in their new book, “Beauty from Ashes: A Christian Couple's Journey From Abortion to Redemption.” The couple joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to share their story and encourage churches across the country to be intentional about providing care for women who have had abortions. If the number of marriages increased in America, the number of abortions would likely decrease, statistics show. The Pew Research Center reported that in 2021, 87% of women who had abortions were unmarried, meaning that “marriage can make a huge difference if 87% of abortion-determined women are not married,” says pro-life advocate Ben Watson, a former NFL star. It's not only the unborn that benefit from a society that celebrates marriage, but all children, Watson says.“It's necessary that men be a part of raising a child and having a commitment to the mother in the form of marriage, because we see statistically that it produces that kind of children that we want in our society,” says Watson, who played for four NFL teams during his 16-season career. Ahead of Father's Day, the former NFL tight end and current president of strategic relationships for the Human Coalition joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain how he and his wife have navigated some of the challenges of their own marriage, and whether being a father is what he expected. Watson also offers his predictions on the upcoming 2024-25 NFL season. Enjoy the show! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

God's Word, from the very beginning, affirms the dignity of all human life. Genesis 1 tells us that at the end of the creation process, “God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.' … 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” This reveals to us that every person is made in the imago Dei, the image of God. And this means that every life, regardless of age, ability, or any other feature, has infinite value that cannot be taken away. The rest of the Bible unwaveringly affirms this truth. The pro-life movement is grounded in this reality and, most fundamentally, has sought to protect our tiniest citizens from the horrors of abortion. The culmination of this work was realized on June 24, 2022, a historic day of celebration as the Supreme Court ruled to overturn the constitutional right to abortion and return abortion legislation back to the states. This was a long-time unifying goal of the pro-life movement. According to The New York Times, since the court's ruling, abortion access has dropped overall, with 21 states banning or restricting it and others reinforcing abortion protections. However, the fight for life and the mission of the pro-life movement is far from over, and there's still much work to be done on the local, state, and federal levels. New frontiers have arisen, with abortion tourism, or travel for abortions across state lines, and chemical abortions, or abortion pills, gaining momentum across our country. As we begin our series, we'll talk to several guests who will give us a clear picture of the current state of the pro-life movement since last year's historic Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision. You'll hear from Benjamin Watson, a former NFL tight end, as well as a writer, speaker, and activist. He is the author of, “The New Fight for Life: Roe, Race, and a Pro-Life Commitment to Justice.” He serves as vice president of strategic relationships with the Human Coalition, one of the largest pro-life and pro-woman organizations in the country. Along with his wife, Kirsten, he is the founder of The Watson 7 Foundation, a nonprofit focused on strengthening families. The Watsons live in Georgia with their seven children. Also joining us is Herbie Newell, president & executive director of Lifeline Children's Services and its ministry arms. He holds a Master's of Business Administration in Accounting from Samford University. Under Herbie's leadership, Lifeline has increased international outreach to 25 countries through adoption and strategic orphan care, obtained licensure in 17 states, and established the foster care arm at Lifeline. Finally, you'll hear from Dr. Bart Barber, who is pastor of First Baptist Church of Farmersville, Texas, and president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Our goal on the ERLC Podcast is to help you think biblically about today's cultural issues. In part 2 of studying the legacy of Margaret Sanger, we look at what she had to say in speeches, books, and articles. Sanger's "birth control" may seem as innocuous as she articulated sometimes, but her goals were far more top-down. Eugenics, Malthusian population control, and racial bias all played a role in Sanger's totalitarian prescriptions for society. Basic baby needs, like diapers, are becoming difficult to come by and the cost of child care is making the extra help seem merely unattainable for parents. It's no secret that economic concerns are one of the most common reasons women opt for an abortion. Human Coalition has found that of the women they serve, 76% would prefer to parent if their circumstances were different. Recognizing this, Human Coalition works to provide women with an understanding of their options and help fill gaps as needed, like helping women apply for child care assistance.https://www.humancoalition.org/bios/jeff-bradford/ https://hucoaction.org/Jeff Bradford serves as President of Human Coalition, where he channels his experience as a seasoned business leader to initiate and cultivate relationships with major and principal donors. As former owner and CEO of Cross Media, Jeff built that company from 4 to 80 employees, and grew sales from $400K to over $14 million. He brings a breadth of knowledge about leadership development and sales cycle management. Most recently, Jeff was a managing partner of CGO Partners, a consulting firm focused on corporate growth. After learning about Human Coalition (HuCo) in 2010, Jeff was so moved by how the organization verifiably saves preborn children from abortion, he began volunteering. He eventually left the business world to work with Human Coalition full time in 2012. Since then, he's helped grow HuCo into one of the nation's largest pro-life organizations. Jeff graduated from the University of Texas (Austin) and holds a BS in Finance. He and his wife Tricia have four children.

When asked about the Department of Defense policy on abortion being critical to military readiness on July 17th, John Kirby, State Department spokesman, said taxpayer-funded abortion travel for service members is "the right darn thing to do" and part of a "sacred obligation" to them. Rev. Dean Nelson, VP of Government Relations for Human Coalition, is part of a grassroots effort to overturn the new Defense Department policy on abortion. He can speak to how this is not about "military readiness” and tramples on the conscience rights of millions of taxpayers opposed to abortion.ICYMI: ‘Grassroots Army' Supports Tuberville's Efforts to Overturn New DoD Abortion Policyhttps://www.tuberville.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/icymi-grassroots-army-supports-tubervilles-efforts-to-overturn-new-dod-abortion-policy/Rev. When Roe vs. Wade was overturned, Benjamin Watson was happy. But he also felt acutely aware of a complicated truth: millions of people felt devastated by the decision. And so the question became: what's next? On today's episode of The Russell Moore Show, Watson—writer, speaker, and former NFL tight end—shares insights into the state of abortion in America. He and Moore talk about the ways that racial injustice relates to abortion. And they discuss how Christians can engage in the pursuit of public justice for women and the unborn alike. Watson, who serves as the VP of Strategic Relationships for the Human Coalition and co-founded the One More Foundation with his wife, talks about his recent book The New Fight for Life: Roe, Race, and a Pro-Life Commitment to Justice. He and Moore consider the gaps in how the church has addressed abortion historically, and what it may look like to do better in the future. And they consider how God might ask Christians to engage in impacting just one person. Stu Burguiere examines the mindless politicization by the Left of the Pentagon documents leak and the rise of the “Tennessee Three” in the wake of the Nashville shooting. These liberal politicians don't care a single bit about the issues, only about how many likes and follows they can rack up on social media. Then, the Human Coalition's Chelsey Youman joins to discuss all the latest in the war against abortion. And Stu issues a personal challenge to any Dylan Mulvaney fans who happen to be tuned in to the program. Today, Jan. 20, marks the first March for Life in Washington since the Supreme Court overturned its 1973 Roe v. Wade decision last June. The Rev. Dean Nelson, executive director of Human Coalition Action, shares what he thinks is next for the pro-life movement. "I think that the key strategy moving forward is, really, for a unified national rescue system. That is, having pro-life pregnancy centers, having advocacy organizations, national groups, and also having churches, really, to work in a collaborative effort to see states that would defund Planned Parenthood, like they have in Texas, to see other states have stronger pro-life laws that restrict abortion," Nelson says. "But more importantly, that we are together emphasizing and focusing on how we can better serve women who find themselves in these difficult circumstances," he adds. Our research shows, at Human Coalition, that 76% of women who are seeking abortions say that they would choose to parent if their circumstances were different. So, there's a lot of work that we can do collaboratively to help women and rescue children.Nelson joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to share what he is hoping to see policy-wise in the new 118th Congress relating to the pro-life movement, why it's important for pro-life advocates to keep marching, and Human Coalition Action's mission relating to the pro-life movement. After the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, the work to protect preborn lives continues at the ground level, in every community, every city, every church. Here are some resources to fulfill that calling. Continuum of Care is a project of the Human Coalition that networks mothers to financial services, job training, maternity housing, and other resources in six major cities. To equip churches to minister to pregnant and parenting moms, another pregnancy and life-assistance network, Her Plan, offers a guide you can find online. The Abortion Pill Reversal Network educates on the reversal of chemical abortions and connects women who have started a chemical abortion with a provider within 72 hours, the window in which a baby can be saved. And, the Support After Abortion website provides classes, virtual groups, and a help number for those suffering after an abortion. These are just some of the organizations and resources available. Let's make abortion unthinkable.
