In the 878th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, which has been nominated for 'Podcast of the Year' at the Global Poker Awards, Chad Holloway, Kyna England, and Mike Holtz remember poker legend "Miami" John Cernuto, who recently passed away from cancer at the age of 81. PokerNews' Calum Grant then sits down with Charlie Carrel to discuss his recent social media post calling out an alleged scammer he claims owes him $60,000. That led Mike to call out a Las Vegas poker player that he says owes him and many others money. From there, Mike dives into the bleak state of online poker in Nevada, which has been compounded by the legal challenges facing the Sweepstakes Model utilized by several poker entities. Kyna then talks about going deep in another MSPT tournament and reaching MSPT Icon status, Anthony Scarborough winning the Poker Bowl IX in Las Vegas, and the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) partnering with ClubWPT Gold for their 2025 Spring season. The crew then toss it to Connor Richards for a special look inside the new Venetian Poker Studio complete with an interview with Venetian Director of Poker Operations Tommy Larosa. In the 877th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, which has been nominated for 'Podcast of the Year' at the Global Poker Awards, Chad Holloway, Kyna England, and Mike Holtz discuss ACR calling Nacho Barbero a "goofball" after serious accusations arose when the Argentinean pro shared a social media post that showed him using GTO Wizard. Patrick Leonard did a deep dive into the data, and while it apparently shows no nefarious activity, it did get the community questioning the situation as a whole. Chad and Kyna also share their experience at the massive MSPT Potawatomi, which saw them both cash on just one bullet apiece. Get a look at their Wisconsin adventure, and find out where they each finished. They also highlight the winner of that tournament as well as Angela Jordison, who took down a side event. The crew then shows some love for the Venetian Poker Room, examines a big hand between Doug Polk and Mariano that was live-streamed from The Lodge, and Leon Tsoukernik feeling 'Absolutely Fine' two weeks after a 40-hour coma. Finally, get a look at Phil Galfond on the latest Life Outside Poker episode as well as a reminder to enter the PokerNews Giveaway for a copy of The Las Vegas Book valued at $500. In the 876th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, which has been nominated for 'Podcast of the Year' at the Global Poker Awards, Chad Holloway, Kyna England, and Mike Holtz discuss what's been happening over at the World Poker Tour (WPT), from them laying off their entire eight-person digital team to the sassy WPT Global Twitter/X account. They then discuss the implications of using comps to pay for a date, WPT champ Scott Stewart claiming two WSOPC rings in short order, and Faraz Jaka shipping an MSPT title. Speaking of the MSPT, which recently surpassed the $200 million mark in awarded prize money, Chad and Kyna are headed to Milwaukee's Potawatomi Casino this weekend to play in the stop's $1,110 Main Event. The crew also recap the PGT Kickoff Series, which included wins from Kristen Foxen, Masato Yokosawa, and Patrik Leonard, and offer up an opportunity to listeners and fans to win a copy of luxurious The Las Vegas Book, which is valued at $495! Finally, Chad heads down to the famed Wisconsin poker bar, Player's Bar, where Phil Hellmuth used to play. Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon, who not only owns the bar but was an O.G. online player from back in the day, shares some stories about the bar including how they learned Hellmuth won the 1989 WSOP, players who've played poker in the bar, and much more. This week, the lads are locked in with poker player, marketeer and Party-Gammon, Kat Arnsby! After briefly discussing Kat's imminent departure from Kindred, the trio dig up a controversial story from the end of 2024, namely Bonomo getting threatened with WSOP Super Main Event disqualification for wearing a keffiyeh. Kat highlights the hypocrisy of the WSOP who days earlier had run a tournament for the widows and orphans of fallen IDF soldiers. Barny Boatman's heartfelt statement and generous auctioning of his first WSOP bracelet is also given some consideration. The conversation then turns to the Global Poker Awards with everyone weighing in on some of the most nominated people. The promise of a more full breakdown of each and every category is made for the next episode (which by the way will be from the Unibet Deepstack Open Barcelona). The discussion turns to the issue of poker-bots, specifically in-house poker bots as David plays a clip from the Sigma Panel at which both he and Kat spoke late last year. From that leaping off point, Dara weighs in with his strong take that liquidity bits of this nature would be terrible for the game. Kat defends her position that they can be a positive thing so long as sites are transparent. Nobody changes anyone else's mind but the debate is held in good spirits and certainly provides both perspectives of a complicated issue. Before closing the curtain on a lively episode, David plugs the upcoming Dublin Poker Festival, for which Unibet Poker is running qualifiers - €50 satellites into both the €570 European Deepstacks and the €350 ACOP.

In the 875th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, which has been nominated for 'Podcast of the Year' at the Global Poker Awards, Chad Holloway, Kyna England, and Mike Holtz dive into the wild story of a Supreme Court attorney who is in hot water over poker taxes. What makes the tale of Tom Goldstein so interesting is that the sums he played for were astronomical with him having reportedly won $50 million only to lose it all plus another $14 million. While his name might not be familiar to the poker masses, you may have either heard about or seen him before as he was written about in The Setup, which was written by his friend Dan Bilzerian, and he also appeared on the Hustler Casino Live (HCL) $1,000,000 Cash Game last year as the mysterious, masked "Thomas" where he mucked the winning hand at showdown in a pot worth $540,000! The crew then chat about Leon Tsoukernik awakening from a 40-hour coma after a Propofol overdose, with his future very much up in the air. They also get into a bad poker promotion that almost ran at a Las Vegas casino on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, highlight the upcoming 2025 Leaf Metal Poker trading card set, and discuss popular ARIA dealer Clyde “Snack Attack” Gaskins appearing on Netflix's Queer Eye. Finally, they wrap things up by recapping some big winners including Pamela Belote setting the new women's record for most WSOP Circuit rings, Martins Adeniya taking down the 2025 Lucky Hearts Poker Open Championship, and Andrew Lichtenberger defeating Nick Schulman in the latest PGT event. The podcast is sponsored by the #1 free-to-play WSOP app. Remember to use bonus code "POKERNEWS" if you download and play for an extra 1,000,000 in chips! Brad Owen discovered poker while in high school, learning the game by studying poker software his dad brought home from work. He continued to play throughout college and even as he earned his masters degree in accounting, but a nine-to-five job was never in the cards for the Santa Rosa, California native.Owen ultimately gave up his day job as a CPA to move to Las Vegas and try his hand at professional poker. He spent years grinding away anonymously at the cash game tables, but wanted a way he could share his journey with his friends and family back home. Taking a cue from his good friend Andrew Neeme, Owen started his own YouTube channel, vlogging his poker sessions for all to see.A little over five years later, Owen has become one of the most popular vloggers on YouTube. The 34-year-old has racked up more than 600,000 subscribers, which puts him alongside Daniel Negreanu as the most watched poker channels online today. In 2019, he won Poker Personality of the Year at the Global Poker Awards, and this year, he added the Best Vlogger award to his mantel. When he's not filming his play, Owen stays busy with Meet-Up Games (MUGs) that take place all over the country, including his very own poker room. Owen recently became a minority owner of The Lodge Card Club House near Austin, Texas along with Doug Polk and the aforementioned Neeme. Owen is also the newest brand ambassador for the World Poker Tour and will be appearing at various events throughout the season.Highlights from this interview include flipping rundown card rooms with dad, learning poker from a CD-ROM, main event nightmares, almost deleting his first video, inventing nicknames for hands, how the vlog affects play, buying a poker room, being poker's Jim Halpert, rocking out as 'Central Idea,' being an inactive CPA, having sleep envy, avoiding sharks in open water, telling dad jokes, and the karma of cleaning up the casino parking lot.
