This week is all about bands playing other bands' songs… In fact, we're going to listen to songs that many different artists have covered; compare them, and then ask, “Who did it better???”. In this episode, we showcase the diversity of how a band can take a hit that you've heard a million times and put their own spin on it. Who do you think did it best? What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. These are songs you are probably familiar with, but maybe not these versions. In any case, we got ya covered! Songs this week include:Overwhelming Colorfast – “She Said, She Said (The Beatles)” from Overwhelming Colorfast(1992)Gov't Mule – “She Said, She Said (The Beatles)” from Dose (1998) Big Wreck – “Good Times Roll (The Cars)” from Bag Of Tricks (2013)Warrior Soul – “Good Times Roll (The Cars)” from Cocaine & Other Good Stuff (2020)Halestorm – “Heathens (Twenty One Pilots)” from ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP (2017)Wolves At The Gate – “Heathens (Twenty One Pilots)” from Lost In Translation (2023)Susanna Hoffs & Matthew Sweet – “Cinnamon Girl (Neil Young)” from Under The Covers, Vol. 1 (2006)Type O Negative – “Cinnamon Girl (Neil Young)” from October Rust (1996)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/inobscuria/og-shopCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

They explore the potential of various tools such as Notion AI, Woodpecker, Gemini Sedra, Meta View, Voila, and 11 labs I/O for enhancing recruitment processes, and the challenges of data privacy and finding case studies demonstrating ROI. They also highlight the importance of collaboration, learning from each other's experiences, and the need for a balance between AI automation and human input in their work processes.

This week, my guest curator is Joe Milliken, author of “Let's Go! Benjamin Orr & The Cars” and we are crafting a mixtape filled with our favorite songs from (you guessed it!) The Cars! We also talk about some of the subject matter from Joe's book, Benjamin Orr & Ric Ocasek's pre-Cars band Milkwood; The New Cars, a 2007 version of the band featuring Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes from The Cars, and Todd Rundgren on vocals. It's no secret that The Cars' self-titled album is my favorite album of all time, so this was an extremely difficult episode for me, as I had to make sure to spread the love amongst all of their other (equally amazing) albums! As you may or may not know, we love drummers on this podcast, so it was not a hard choice bringing the versatile and extremely busy Chuck Ferreira on the show. Chuck or "Charles The Drummer" as many refer to him as, can play all styles and has proved that with his work with Greg Hawkes of The Cars, Eddie Japan, Boston all-stars The Shang Hi Los, Lonely Leesa And The Lost Cowboys, Aloud and the list goes on and on. We had a great talk about drums and rock n roll. The host also shares his love for a couple of series that flopped "Vinyl" and Roadies" in the intro.....the beat goes on. Music The Charms "So Pretty"(theme song) Lonely Leesa and The Lost Cowboys "The Reckoning Is Here" The Shang Hi Los "Funeral Home Mint" Interview recorded on zoom, with additional edits and recording down by the host. It Came From Boston: 5 experienced musicians come together to make something new: keyboard whiz Greg Hawkes; the bassist with the killer voice, Benjamin Orr; drummer David Robinson from the legendary Modern Lovers; one of the tastiest guitarists in the business, Elliot Easton; and singer/songwiriter/guitarist & mastermind Ric Ocasek. Merging classic guitar rock with the burgeoning synth-pop sounds to bring New Wave to the masses, The Cars defined that sound for the late-70's/Early '80's. It all started on local Boston radio with this song. "Just What I Needed" (Ric Ocasek) Copyright 1978 Lido Music, Inc.
On September 15, 2019 the world lost an amazing songwriter with a killer voice, wild imagination, superb guitar skills, and endless creativity. Truly one of a kind! We here at the show are talking about the late, great, sensational Ric Ocasek and he is sorely missed. Along with Greg Hawkes, Elliot Easton, David Robinson, and another brilliant talent that shed this mortal coil way too soon Ben Orr the Cars were formed. Together they spawned hit after hit, provide utterly timeless. For this episode we focus on their fantastic albums and pay tribute two artistic souls that have passed on. Six-Pack of Ric Ocasek, Volume Two On this Six-Pack episode, Alex Alt of the Sly Dog Music-Cast, Ben Montgomery of the Records Revisited Podcast, and Eric Miller of Pods & Sods celebrate the life and work of Ric Ocasek. Ric's career as a songwriter goes back to the late 60s, his relationship with Benjamin Orr started in 1967 and the two stuck together through the 70s in various configurations. But it wasn't until the two found themselves in Boston and connected with Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, and David Robinson that The Cars were truly born. They came out strong with what many consider to be the greatest debut album ever. A series of multi-platinum albums and a slew of hits followed until they kinda broke up in the mid-to-late 80s. Ric continued for the following decades as a beloved solo artist and highly successful and coveted producer. His unique style as a songwriter and singer coupled with his image as the coolest guy in any room have made him a true rock and roll icon and hero to many. Ric passed away earlier this week while recovering from surgery and so we wanted to pay tribute. So sit back, brush your rock and roll hair, and join us as we honor one of the greats, Mr Ric Ocasek.

Singer-songwriter, producer, cult hero and soon to be published author Todd Rundgren is approaching his 70th birthday and yet he shows no signs of slowing down. Todd already has major projects lined up for next year including collobarations with The Lemon Twigs, an autobiography, a big Toddstock 7.0 birthday bash...or two or three, and who knows what else.We didn't talk about "Bat Out of Hell" or "Hello It's Me," instead we dished on some topics Todd doesn't get asked a lot about (that's because I am a bit of a TR geek myself.) We even discuss the New Cars. This felt like one of my best interviews, and I hope that you feel the same way. I can assure you there is a lot more Todd Rundgren in my archives, or as Todd might say," There's always more..."
