Has Trump Jumped the Shark? MTG & Ro Khanna Talk About A Third Party. Reps Swalwell AND Gonzales Resign. Rock & Roll HOF. WNBA, NFL & Military Draft. In this explosive episode of Independent Americans, host Paul Rieckhoff sits down with the great and powerful Michael Steele—former RNC Chairman and Lieutenant Governor of Maryland and cohost of MS NOW's The Weeknight airing weekdays at 7pm ET—for a raw, unfiltered debrief on the current state of the American duopoly. Steele doesn't hold back, detailing why he believes the Republican Party is currently racing toward a "fucking cliff" and what it actually takes to maintain integrity when your political home has abandoned its foundational principles. From his personal history as a fencer to his perspective as the first African American leader of the RNC, Steele provides a masterclass in political realism and the urgent need for a viable third-party movement in America. Beyond the political crossfire, this episode drills down into the critical national security stories the mainstream media is missing. We cover the escalating blockade in Iran being enforced by 10,000 U.S. service members, the "geopolitical victim-shaming" of Ukraine, and the stunning technological innovations of robotic warfare on the front lines. We also tackle the bizarre cultural moment—from Trump's "Jesus" posts to the Wu-Tang Clan's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Things got heated fast on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show as the crew tackled President Donald Trump’s refusal to apologize to Pope Leo XIV after blasting him over the Iran conflict and posting — then deleting — an AI image that appeared to depict Trump as Jesus. Trump insists the image was meant to show him “as a doctor,” a claim that sparked backlash from religious leaders and even some of his own supporters, turning the moment into a rare and messy public standoff between a sitting president and the Vatican. Sports and culture news kept the momentum going, starting with reports that players on the Chicago Sky were quietly relieved after Angel Reese was traded to the Atlanta Dream, with anonymous insiders describing lingering locker-room tension during her time in Chicago. Meanwhile, boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather is facing renewed scrutiny after the IRS filed a $7.3 million federal tax lien, adding fuel to speculation that his recent exhibition bouts may be driven by cash-flow issues rather than competition. Rounding out the episode, fans were stunned when New Edition failed to make the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026 — despite winning the fan vote — reigniting debate over how the Hall values R&B and Black legacy artists, with even fellow inductees publicly calling the snub unfair. Some crazy storms last night…looking at more tomorrow night and Friday as well. Should be rather nice today with a high of 75° and some clouds in the forecast. In the news this morning, Tony Gonzales of Texas is resigning from the House after admitting to a sexual relationship with a staff member, actress Ruby Rose accuses Katy Perry of sexually assaulting her, Brian Hooker gets released from police custody after being questioned in the disappearance of his wife, and a Florida teen will be tried as an adult in the alleged rape & murder of his step-sister on a cruise ship. In sports, the Brewers start a three-game series against the Blue Jays tonight, Doc Rivers is officially out as the head coach of the Bucks, the NBA Play-In Tournament starts tonight, a recap of yesterday's WNBA Draft, and Jonathan Quick hangs up his skates. We talked about what's on TV today/tonight and what's new on New Release Tuesday. Plus, a new series from the creators of "Stranger Things". Elsewhere in sports, Dick Vitale announces he's got melanoma in his lung & liver cavity, the Baltimore Orioles manager takes a foul ball to the face, and the White Sox Pope hat is so popular…they had to expand it to everyone who bought a ticket for the game on August 11th. Cool story about a community that worked together to help a homeless guy find a place to live and a job to help him back on his feet. An interesting stat about the benefits of a digital detox. Took a look at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2026 that was announced on last night's episode of American Idol. Grant Bilse of the Wisco Sports Show joined us just after 8am to talk about all the recent sports happenings in the state of Wisconsin. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who punched his coworker in the face ONE MINUTE after clocking in for his shift, a burglary call that turned out to be a guy with explosive diarrhea, a guy who allegedly stole Honey Buns from inmates at the jail he worked at, a company that created an A.I. Jesus and is charging people $2 to talk to it, and Brian tells Jean about Cowboy Sway getting absolutely TRUCKED at a recent rodeo.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast kicks off with a celebration for the culture as Outkast and Salt-N-Pepa are officially inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, marking a historic moment for hip-hop’s pioneers. Salt-N-Pepa delivered a fiery speech demanding ownership justice for artists still fighting for their masters, while Andre 3000 and Big Boi reunited in heartfelt fashion, reminding fans that “great things start in little rooms.” Their induction stands as a testament to hip-hop’s 50-year journey from block parties to global stages. In entertainment, Jay-Z’s decade-long paternity case has finally been dismissed with prejudice, closing a tabloid-fueled chapter that accused him of fathering a man named Rymir Satterthwaite. Gary With Da Tea noted that the ruling ends any future DNA or legal claims. The episode wraps with eight moderate Democrats crossing the aisle to end the 40-day government shutdown, restoring SNAP benefits and back pay for federal workers. From triumphs in hip-hop history to the trials of politics and perseverance, Rickey and the crew keep listeners laughing, inspired, and locked in on what’s shaping the culture. It's Observer Hall of Fame season, and you know what that means: With Kris having to take the week off, David figured this would be a good week of a HOF show, so he's joined here by our dear friend John Pollock of POST Wrestling to go over the ballot! The focus is on new/returning candidates and our ballot shortlists for the most part to keep our sanity, but there's a ton of ground covered, with topics including:David's new research into the Von Erichs and how it affects their candidacy as a group.Decoding the criteria as it applies to teams vs. singles acts. The underrepresentation of historically marginalized groups in the HOF.Junkyard Dog getting unfairly made out to be a far inferior candidate than he actually is in a lot of HOF discussions.Sabu's case coming into focus in the aftermath of his death. What's the threshold for high level in-ring longevity candidates like the Briscoes, Masaaki Mochizuki, and Meiko Satomura?Between last year's inductions of CIMA and Shingo Takagi and this year's addition of Mochizuki to the ballot, is it time to put a lot more focus on Dragongate candidates, whether individually or as groups? Is Becky Lynch's candidacy losing stream?Did CM Punk deliberately sabotage AEW, and if so, how does that reflect on his otherwise strong case for induction? The Randy Orton problem: Right now, it's easy to make the case for why he's a weak candidate. Will voters lost sight of that years down the line?Batista needing reconsideration under the current rule set when he's a far superior candidate to almost everyone else on the modern U.S./Canada ballot.Did Cody Rhodes' pec injury rob him of the credit he deserves for being the catalyst for the 2020s WWE boom period?Aew we overvaluing in-ring work when it comes to candidates like Tiger Jeet Singh?Trying to figure out the areas where the WON HOF should be more like the Rock 'n' Roll HOF than sports halls of fame, including whether or not feuds should be considered as much of an “act” as tag teams are since it's all a work. The problem with candidates like Zane Bresloff and Rossy Ogawa where we're largely relying on a friend or two to make the case for them.
