During high school and college, he was a varsity soccer player and still enjoys playing with his German team! Tune in to hear his perspective on sports medicine and why Fellowship was important to him. Dr. Baker is current faculty for the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Podiatric surgical residency program in Chicago, IL and the Regional Chief Medical Officer with Balance Health. Join us, as we discuss “all things podiatric medicine”, including discussions on student etiquette, awkward interactions or conflicts on externships, various business structures podiatrists can consider, as well as involvement with professional organizations such as the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Baker shares insights about his background in athletic training and podiatric medicine, including his educational journey and experience in surgical residency and fellowship programs. Tune in to learn more about Dr. Baker's expertise in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at the Weil Foot and Ankle Institute in Lincoln Park, Chicago area. One of the key points discussed in the podcast episode is the trend toward more specialized fellowships in podiatry. Dr. Jeff Baker highlighted the importance of fellowships in providing opportunities for subspecialization within the field of podiatry. He mentioned that fellowships are a way to further specialize and gain additional training in specific areas of interest, such as research, reconstructive surgery, sports medicine, limb lengthening, and deformity correction. Dr. Baker shared his personal experience of completing a fellowship in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at the Weill Foot and Ankle Institute. He emphasized how his fellowship training allowed him to subspecialize in deformity correction and limb lengthening, which has become his area of expertise. This specialized training has enabled him to provide specialized care to patients requiring these specific treatments. Furthermore, Dr. Baker discussed the benefits of fellowships in podiatry, such as providing opportunities for in-depth training, exposure to advanced techniques, and access to specialized resources. He also mentioned that fellowships offer a pathway for podiatrists to enhance their skills, knowledge, and expertise in a particular area of interest, ultimately leading to better patient care outcomes. Overall, the podcast episode highlighted the growing trend towards more specialized fellowships in podiatry, offering podiatrists the opportunity to subspecialize and excel in specific areas within the field. This trend reflects the evolving nature of podiatric medicine and the importance of continuous learning and specialization to meet the diverse needs of patients. Dr. Jeff Baker also discusses the trend of podiatrists joining supergroups, highlighting the advantages of this practice. One significant benefit is the increased opportunities for insurance contracts. By being part of a larger group, podiatrists can negotiate better terms with insurance companies, allowing them to expand their patient base and increase revenue. Supergroups offer better marketing capabilities. By pooling resources and expertise, podiatrists in a supergroup can implement more effective marketing strategies to attract patients. This can lead to increased visibility in the community, higher patient volume, and ultimately, better financial stability for the practice. Dr. Jensen, Dr. Richey, and Dr. Baker highlight how The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) plays a significant role in supporting students. ACFAS offers various opportunities and support for students, including funding for research projects and involvement in regional activities. Student members of ACFAS have the chance to receive financial support for their research endeavors. The regions within ACFAS provide financial assistance to students whose manuscripts or posters are accepted for presentation at the annual scientific conference. Additionally, ACFAS encourages student engagement by providing opportunities to participate in regional activities. Students can benefit from networking with professionals in the field, gaining insights into the inner workings of the organization, and expanding their knowledge and skills. The involvement in regional activities allows students to interact with experienced foot and ankle surgeons, fostering mentorship opportunities and professional growth. https://explorepodmed.org/ Dean's Chat Website Dean's Chat Episodes Dean's Chat Blog Why Podiatric Medicine? I had the absolute pleasure to speak with Viola and Jeff Baker - a father daughter duo who who recently cycled across Canada. With their back wheels dipped in the Pacific Ocean, they set off from Bamfield on the West Coast of Vancouver Island and cycled West until they reached their end point of Cape Spear, on the Atlantic Ocean. This trip would see them cycle over 8000kms, creating endless memories as they discovered more about their own country. They also fundraised during the trip - raising funds for Alzheimers research. The idea for the trip was sparked by Viola and it was clear Jeff had no hesitation in accepting an invitation from his daughter to join her for this adventure. At first he wasn't certain his knees would make it all the way across, but once they reached Calgary - he was sure he could make it. For Viola this was her very first long distance bicycle tour and from the way she reflects back on it I could see how energising the trip was. I also really got a sense of how going on a trip of this length for this long has strengthened the bond between the two of them and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them share stories from their trip. I'm certain more cycling adventures are ahead of them. Hollie and Rusty have taken digital nomad life to a completely different place: The wilderness. Quite literally, they work from the most remote national forests in the United States, all while working online in digital marketing and IT security. Hollie used to work with Jeff Baker as a content marketing strategist for Brafton. But late into her tenure she (using her own words) "strong armed" her employer to get them to let start working remote out of Colorado. Technically she made this possible by first proving herself to the organization for years, then converting to a consultant so that Brafton didn't need to incorporate in a new state. Both parties got what they needed out of the deal. Soon after going remote, she met Rusty and decided to go on a weeklong vacation living out of truck camper in national forests. That weeklong trip turned into six weeks. And that six weeks turned into a lifestyle in which they spend about half their time living and working remotely out of a camper van in the forest, and the other half the time in short-term leases around the United States. They are living the lives of the dreams every day. They wake up with the most beautiful views in the entire United States for half the year, and the other half the year they choose whichever new city they want to explore. You won't be able to find Hollie or Rusty anytime soon, because they are going to be moving to a remote island off the coast of Alaska next year! Link mentioned: Overlander Starlink

The soul and really caring about the topic, and showing the unique perspective is what really is going to differentiate that content and which is going to help not just in search engine rankings, but generate leads as well. Most of the time, when I see people getting this wrong with lead generation, it's they're mismatching the intent of their users with the goal that they're trying to accomplish. So for me, my best recommendation is to follow the intent all the way through to the end. So understand that my intent for this particular topic, this search is information, I'm just looking to learn and don't break that pathway and offer me something that adds value to my current mindset. When creating the strategy, the informational, and just understanding those intersection points, and really trying to knowing that some of that content is going to more directly generate the leads, and the remainder is really going to indirectly.Same point with the lead magnets. It doesn't need to be an earth shattering, lead magnet or tool that nobody's created, or nobody's ever thought about. It just needs to add some value, you know. And the good point is that, we always assume we need to provide a lot more than the user does.Start with the assumption that nobody wants to read it. And what that's going to do is it's going to force you to create something way out of the box with your subject line and with the content that you put in there.Guest Links:.Brafton: https://www.brafton.com/Connect with Jeff Baker on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bakerseo/Learn More:Check Out All of My Podcast Episodes: https://podcast.nealschaffer.comJoin My Digital First Mastermind: https://nealschaffer.com/membership/ Learn about My Fractional CMO Consulting Services: https://nealschaffer.com/cmoDownload All of My Free EBooks: https://nealschaffer.com/freebies/Subscribe to my YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/nealschaffer
