We did not touch on any of Joe Hayden's honors and accolades here's a link to his bio page. The reason I did not spend time on the podcast was that it would take me an hour to read all of these have honors and recognitions!Joe humbly sheared is two things one hard work into right place at the right time. He went from nearly failing out of Boston College to graduating near the top of his class at the Rutgers Law School. He participated in the Selma marches and even wound up arrested but not booked. He went on to clerk in the New Jersey Supreme Court for Chief Justice Joseph Weintraub, served as a Deputy Attorney General until starting a career in private practice. He asserts that law is a people business and that it is a privilege to work as a lawyer. He commands to all of us to quote put out good stuff – do favors and say Thank You!His Honorable Mention list includes:· Attorney Michael Critchley· Attorney Rosemarie Alito· Retired New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Gary Stein· His long-term partner attorney Justin Walder The original Dean of the family and divorce practice in New Jersey Gary Skoloff and last but certainly not least is wife Honorable Katharine Hayden, U.S.D.J. Joni Mitchell said that they paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Well, that parking lot was for all the worker drones at the Plastic Brain Press Megastructure Headquarters! Nah – just kidding. Plastic Brain isn’t quite that evil. This episode features a delightful interview with academic and cosmic huntress Dr Ruth Charnock. She talks about the book she helped to bring together: Joni Mitchell, New Critical Readings. The book recognizes the importance and innovativeness of the musician and artist Joni Mitchell and the need for a collection that theorizes her work as musician, composer, cultural commentator and antagonist. Ruth also tells us about that time she saw Midge Ure eating a curry on his own. Find out more about Ruth on her Twitter: @DRRUTHCHARNOCK We have poetry from the fabulous Chris Martin, recorded on a lonely, poetic beach. Here we are – it’s the Season 1 finale! Hopefully by now you’ve begun to feel more balanced and energetic in your mind – probably right towards the back of your mind, maybe in that dark corner where your thoughts join with the cosmos, near that cracked downpipe which lets in a draught. If you don’t feel any different then try listening again to some of the episodes. You can also wait and see what happens when we launch Season 2 in a couple of months. Stay tuned! In this episode we have interviews with 2 creatives. First up is Hannah Whitlow. Hannah is an artist, poet and zinester based in the north west. She is part of the crew who organise Nottingham Zine Fest and curate the Nottingham Zine Library. We talked to her about her art and about moving back to your home town with the hope of helping it to thrive artistically. Fine out more about Hannah: https://www.instagram.com/hannahwhitlow/ & https://www.hannahwhitlow.com/about Next up we have Brit Noir writer Math Bird. He recently published Welcome to HolyHell (https://allduerespectbooks.com/books/welcome-to-holyhell-by-math-bird) with publisher All Due Respect. Welcome to HolyHell, set in the borderlands of northeast Wales, is a coming-of-age story about loneliness, hope, the past that haunts us, and the fear of growing older. Math is now hard at work on its sequel. We spoke to him about his writing process and inspirations – he really enjoyed being probed by Plastic Brain! And before you start getting tetchy, yes there is another peek inside Joe Hayden’s Cupboard. There is also the usual razzle-dazzle and freaky-deaky. Fill your boots up! The old saying goes that Emperor Nero fiddled whilst Rome burned – but it isn’t quite true. Nero actually listened to this podcast whilst Rome burned. Even the builders of Stonehenge had it on the radio as they worked. What we’re saying is this podcast is on some kind of cosmic frequency, you’ve twiddled a knob and well, here we are! Art, creativity, weirdness. An aural orgasm. In this episode we speak with the powerful creative force that is Ethan Minsker: writer, artist, filmmaker, zinester and founding member of the Antagonist Art Movement, a cultural movement of different disciplines formed in New York. Ethan has currently been working on his documentary film, Man In Camo - https://vimeo.com/208357667 We talk about the drive to create and what success might look like. Matt and Steve are talking about this week in sports updates, including: WPIAL Playoffs Week 2 is going strong. Big games are Seneca at NA and Lebo at Richland. Penguins' Coach Sully has changed a few things. Penguins starting DeSmith against the Caps. Some of the lines were switched up and especially in the 3rd. Malkin took a 10 min major. The Pens fought real well and had more shorthanded shots than the Caps on the power play. TJ Oshie with the game winner late in the third and the Pens are on a 5-game slide. Jim Rutherford is not happy with the team and says changes will come if things don’t happen. NCAA hoops started night with some pretty big matchups. Duke handled Kentucky. Kansas won by 5 against Michigan State. Pitt Basketball had their first win of the season (69-53) with Coach Jeff Capel at the helm. We are going to have to learn some names this season. Pitt has their first 5 games at home this season with only one ranked opponent before conference play. Top 25 Basketball. PGA Tour is in Mexico. Keep an eye on the tournaments - especially who is and isn’t playing in them. Of course no majors until April, but lots of great golf to be watched. These smaller tournaments are where some stars can emerge. NASCAR has 3 races left in the season. There are 8 drivers left in the hunt for the Monster Energy Cup . NCAA Football saw Pitt coming off a big win in Charlottesville and at the top of the Coastal Division in the ACC. Coach Narduzzi had his mid season proclamation of ACC Champs. PSU got shellacked by the Wolverines (42-7) putting them at 3-3 in conference play and 6-3 overall. WVU squeaked on out a last-minute win over the Longhorns with a 2-point conversion that had some fun coaching calls. Notre Dame had a 10-point win over NW on the road. Notre Dame looked kinda shaky to get started and seems to play down to the teams they should be beating bigger. FSU is not that good this season, but don’t overlook anyone. TOP 25 Football Steelers had a scare last week with Ben on his roll out and having the wind knocked out of him. The Steelers seems to be gelling. Steelers secondary, other than Joe Hayden, is still suspect. Lev Bell sighting. Thursday Night game: What do we think?
