Saw X is a 2023 American horror film and the tenth installment in the Saw film series, that serves as both a direct sequel to Saw (2004) and a prequel to Saw II (2005). It is directed and edited by Kevin Greutert and written by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. The film stars Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith reprising their roles from the previous films, with Synnøve Macody Lund, Steven Brand, Renata Vaca, and Michael Beach. Set between the events of the first two films, John Kramer (Bell) travels to Mexico in hopes an experimental procedure may cure him, later discovering a scam within the operation. As retribution, he kidnaps those responsible and subject them to his trademark death traps. Originally intended to be the ninth installment of the series, the plot of the film was postponed in favor of a spin-off titled Spiral, from a story pitched by Chris Rock. A tenth installment was reported to be in development with Twisted Pictures in April 2021. Stolberg and Goldfinger, writers for the previous two entries of the series, announced they had completed the script in December 2021. Greutert, who had directed two other installments of the series and edited six, was also confirmed as the film's director. Charlie Clouser, who had composed all the previous films, returned to compose the score. Filming took place from October 2022 to February 2023 in Mexico City. Saw X was theatrically released by Lionsgate on September 29, 2023. It has grossed $57 million worldwide and received generally positive reviews from critics, with many describing it as the strongest entry since the first film while also singling out Bell's performance for praise --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/popcorn-junkies/message

This film was directed by Kevin Greutert who previously directed 2009's “Saw VI” and 2010's, “Saw 3D”. The film was co-written by Josh Stolberg who previously wrote 2017's “Jigsaw” & 2021's “Spiral: From the Book of Saw”. This film is a direct sequel to “Saw” but a prequel to “Saw II” and its sees Tobin Bell return as the titular killer, “Jigsaw”. In this film, John Kramer is informed that his brain cancer is rapidly becoming worse leaving him with only months to live. John is then told about a new medical procedure that will cure from a fellow cancer patient. Things take a disturbing turn when John realizes it's a scam and masterminds a number of traps and other deadly puzzles for his now targeted victim. “Saw X” marks the first time former directors and writers have returned to another entry in to the franchise that wasn't in a canonical sequel.

You thought it had ended with Saw 3D (ironically AKA Saw: The Final Chapter), but alas, one decade later we were back at the theaters in to watch the 2017 installment of the series directed by The Spierig Brothers and written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger. Jigsaw has been dead for ten years but a new crop of victims in vicious torture traps have been discovered. The detectives are on the case, and only time will tell if they can save the newest group of victims. Join Megan and Cate as they dissect the last (for now) Saw movie. Featuring some serious narrative retconning and some of our favorite tropes, this movie makes us ask: Is this a Saw movie for the diehard fans or just for newbies? Only you can decide.  WWE look out! While the Podcast was attending the Cenobite Panel at Texas Frightmare Weekend 2018, actor Doug Bradley let the crowd know that he would be joining a wrestling promotion sometime in the near future. He didn't elaborate on it any further at the time, but we were all very curious to know where this was going. The wait is over as horror website Bloody Disgusting recently let it out of the bag that the Hellraiserstar has joined the wrestling promotion known as Blackcraft Wrestling. He's playing a role known as “The Preacher” who is the general manager of the promotion. According to a fan who attended the show Burning Bridges, Bradley was quoted as saying a familiar Hellraiser-esque line, but with a twist that only Doug could come up with: “We have such fights to show you!” I love it! I've attached some pictures that were taken at the event showing Bradley cutting promos in the ring: Also, don't forget to visit Blackcraft Wrestling's official site where you can watch a promo video they've made for the character. https://blackcraftwrestling.com/ Thanks to Bloody Disgusting and Blackcraft Wrestling Blog Post at: http://www.clivebarkercast.com/2018/08/29/doug-bradley-joins-wrestling-promotion/      Over the summer it was reported that a Nightbreed TV series would be coming to the small screen via the SyFy channel, but nothing else has been said on the subject since. Yesterday, Bloody Disgustingreported a tweet from the writer of the series Josh Stolberg that confirms the return of Decker.   "Good Ol' Buttonface. I'll be playing with him this Fall."   I'm not all that surprised that Decker is returning considering how the movie ended. I'd love to see director David Cronenberg return to play the character with Ashberry as his devoted disciple. We'll keep you posted as more news is made available. Thanks to Josh Stolberg and Bloody Disgusting. Original Blog Post: http://www.clivebarkercast.com/2018/08/30/dr-decker-will-return-for-nightbreed-tv-series-according-to-writer/   It's always a treat to see Doug Bradley in anything he does, from his Spinechillers, to the Wrong Turnmovies, the Book of Blood, short films, Star Wars games (Shadow of Revan) and now LORE. Earlier today he posted this on his official Facebook page: "I recently got to spend some time in Prague, filming an episode about Burke and Hare for the new season of Lore, coming October 19th." You can see Doug in the second season trailer in a scene from the Burke and Hare episode— where it looks to me by his appearance that he'll be playing Dr. Robert Knox— once again playing a wise and aged surgeon, a dignified profession shared with another character he played in a famous Horror franchise before, if I'm not mistaken. Lore started out as a podcast developed by Aaron Mahnke and now it's a show on Amazon Video. The second season will premiere on October 19, 2018 Original Blog Post http://www.clivebarkercast.com/2018/08/30/doug-bradley-will-star-in-episode-of-lore/   It's been over a year since Hellraiser box creator Simon Sayce's passing, but we've learned today that his work continues to live on in a new movie called Extremity. Sayce's contributions to the film are the masks that are worn by the film's villains. The film is also directed by Anthony Diblasi who adapted Clive Barker's Dread for the big screen. He had these positive words to say about Simon's work,“There are several ‘hero' masks in the film, which the villains wear,” says DiBlasi. “These things look amazing on camera.” Check this one out from the trailer: From the EW report: Extremity stars Dana Christina (Wynonna Earp) as a young woman named Allison who signs up for a trip to an extreme haunt called Perdition in the hope of exorcising her demons. Checkout the trailer below: https://ew.com/movies/2018/08/31/extremity-trailer/ Thanks to Ben Warren and EW. Original Blog Post http://www.clivebarkercast.com/2018/08/31/simon-sayce-news-2/

Jigsaw is a 2017 American horror film directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger, and starring Matt Passmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Clé Bennett, and Hannah Emily Anderson. It is the eighth installment in the Saw franchise, picking up over a decade after the death of the eponymous Jigsaw killer, during the police investigation of a new succession of murders that fit his modus operandi. Saw 3D (2010) was originally deemed the final installment of the series, before Lionsgate Films commissioned the production of Jigsaw from a pitch by Stolberg and Goldfinger.

Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. Here it is, the last of Dark Discussions Podcast Killer Fish Fest episodes. Five episodes, six films. And this one is two films. First we have the 1978 Roger Corman produced and Joe Dante directed Piranha, and then we have the 2010 Alexandre Aja directed Piranha 3D. When Jaws blew up at the box office, numerous fish monster films began popping up, including Piranha, probably the most successful of the "follow ups". Made on a small budget of $770,000 USD, it went on to make over $16 million at the box office. In 2010, Dimension Films decided to produce a throwback film from the 1970's with all the gore and grindhouse you'd see back in those days. Getting the hot French director Alexandre Aja on board who loved one of the original scripts by two guys named Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, the film was made for $24 million in 3D and became a huge hit making four times its cost at the box office. Both films, though about killer piranha, are linked in name only. The 1978 film was about a military and government experiment that goes awry while the 2010 film is about prehistoric piranha locked away in a subterranean lake that break out after a minor tremor. Both films have been well received by critics and horror fans alike. Your co-hosts discuss two popular cult films and give their take. The Critical Breakdown: A Film Podcast

Can a laugh out loud gross out comedy also count as a sweet, uplifting romcom? Possibly, but Good Luck Chuck (2007) is neither of these. Rated 5% on Rotten Tomatoes, Good Luck Chuck stars Dane Cook and Jessica Alba.    Directed by Mark Helfrich and written by Josh Stolberg, this comedy is about a charming dentist who is worried about losing the woman he loves due to a childhood curse: Sleep with him once, and the next man you meet will be your true love.   While this is the best movie we've seen yet, it still leaves plenty to be desired. We get lost in the weeds about what makes a romantic comedy good, and how Good Luck Chuck should be split into two separate films.    And we answer listener mail!   Want to have a shout out or get a question answered on a future episode?
