First up is Detention, directed by John Hsu, which is an adaptation of the game of the same name that follows a group of students who defy book ban orders in Tiawan during the White Terror. After that is Bleed With Me, directed by Amelia Moses, a tale of friends who go on vacation to cabin where things quickly turn strange becuase (you guessed it) things aren't quite on the up and up. The final movie this week is Yummy, a Belgian zombie flicks directed by Lars Damoiseaux that's heavy on the gore and the laughs and may or may not be based on Rigby's life.   ***************************** “Party Crowd 2” by Kolezan is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Bong Hit” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Breath in and out Cigarette” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 “Metal Loop” by thunderstorm10 is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Scream 1” by TheSubber13 is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 "Death Metal Track" is licensed under CC BY 3.0 ****************************************************** Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on facebook, Instagram, and on Twitter. Some are good, some are great - you know the drill. After that we're talking about a classic horror hostesses' film debut - Elvira: Mistress of the Dark - which Arrow has just released in blu-ray format. If work couldn't be found in the formal job market, people would find or make work for themselves in the informal market, which is often criminalized. During the heydays of the granite industry, widows of deceased workers supported themselves and their families by running boarding houses or making and selling food, wine, and spirits. Melicenda makes Italian dinners for the wealthier residents of Montpelier, but she does so at great risk. She lives in constant fear of the police raiding her home. Episode 148 of the Drunk in a Graveyard podcast is here and it's Arrow Video week as we dive into two screeners lovingly bequeathed to us from our pals at Arrow Video. The first one finds us lost in a 1930s jazz club with Robert Altman's depression-era noire "Kansas City". There's mob bosses with cool names, all the saxophone solos you need, and also Jennifer Jason Leigh is there! Rounding out the episode we chat about Jose Ramon Larraz's Spanish-American slasher "Edge of the axe", which is short on plot but big on fun. Come give us a hand - we caught at least twelve trout and listen to this episode. ****************************************************** “Party Crowd 2” by Kolezan is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Bong Hit” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Breath in and out Cigarette” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 “Metal Loop” by thunderstorm10 is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Scream 1” by TheSubber13 is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 "Death Metal Track" is licensed under CC BY 3.0 ****************************************************** Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on facebook, Instagram, and on Twitter. Episode 147 of the Drunk in a Graveyard podcast is here and it's a more serious one this week, Robin and Scotty chat about two First Nations/indigenous films - the first one being Mohawk, written by Grady Hendrix (My Best Friend's Exorcism, Paperbacks from Hell) and co-written / directed by Ted Geoghegan (We Are Still Here), a film that stars Kaneihtiio Horn (The Wild Hunt, Hemlock Grove) & Eamon Farren (The Witcher) in a supernatural dark forest period piece that is brutal in its depictions of violence, madness, and colonialism. The second film is one that the graveyard has been waiting for and it's Jeff Barnaby's Blood Quantum, a Mi'kmaq First Nations zombie film that is all too appropriate and terrifying given the time of plague we currently find ourselves living in. Blood Quantum stars Michael Greyeyes (Are You Afraid of the Dark, True Detective, American Gods), Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Kiowa Gordan, & Stonehorse Lone Goeman. It was filmed on location in the Kahnawake Mohawk and Listuguj Mi'kmaq reserves in Quebec and the city of Campbellton in New Brunswick. Michael Rooker doing a Three Stooges impersonation was there, and there's talk about the best and worst fantasies you could have on an island that makes fantasies come true. Finishing up the episode, the crew chats about the funniest movie we didn't know we needed - a Canadian hidden gem called Draghoula about a Jewish drag queen vampire played by a guy who fronted a French-Canadian goth band Talamasca. Scott and Robin had a long weekend filled with questionable cinema and are here to tell you all about it. First up is the 1960 vampire film Blood and Roses, one of many adaptations of the Carmilla story but this time around featuring vampires, explosions and vampires caught in explosions. Next up is Girls Club, a rape-revenge film from the early '80s that has an identity crisis but some effective messages. The final movie covered this week is Danzig's Verotika, an adaptation of his comics from the '90s directed by the Zig man himself.
