**Discussion begins at 3:30**Last month, the Louvre museum's Galerie d'Apollon was the target of a brazen heist, with four men fleeing with eight pieces of French Crown Jewels valued at over $100 million USD or €88 million.  Disguised as construction workers and using a truck-mounted lift, two of the suspects accessed a first-floor window, cut into display cases, and fled via motorbikes with their loot.  The heist immediately generated a search for the jewels and suspects, as well as a plethora of other questions.  How did the thieves know exactly which window was weak, which display cases to target, and how to orchestrate a clean, rapid escape?  Was this an opportunistic crime, or a deliberately orchestrated inside job?  Questions also circulated surrounding the lack of surveillance and intrusion protocols despite previous security audits and known vulnerabilities.  With key items still missing and suspects only partially cooperating, theories abound -  Were the four thieves part of a larger network?  And what was the motive?  Could this have been a commissioned theft for a private collector, or were the pieces dismantled, recut, and resold with assistance of an underground network?  Today we'll discuss what we know about the Louvre Heist, focusing on the possibilities of a larger conspiracy. Send us a textSupport the showTheme song by INDA

Nous sommes le 1er décembre 1901, à Montmartre. Ce jour-là est officiellement inaugurée la Galerie B. Weill. B pour Berthe. Pour l'occasion, l'illustrateur Lobel-Riche a gravé un carton sur lequel on peut lire « Place aux Jeunes ». Le Tout-Paris est invité et le tapage est grand auprès de la presse. L'exposition qui célèbre l'événement rassemble des toiles de Pierre Girieud, Fabien Launay et Raoul de Mathan ainsi que des figurines en terre cuite d'Aristide Maillol, qui rencontrera peu de temps après la notoriété. L'histoire de Berthe Weill, marchande et mécène, est celle d'une pionnière. Elle a fait de sa galerie un espace d'expression pour toute une nouvelle frange d'artistes émergents. En accueillant ceux, et celles, qui « débutaient dans la carrière et n'étaient soutenus par personne », elle a joué un rôle primordial dans l'avènement de l'art moderne. C'est elle qui présenta, pour la première fois en galerie à Paris, les œuvres de Matisse et Picasso. Paul Reboux, écrivain et peintre, la décrira, en 1933, en "pourfendeuse héroïque du dragon de la banalité". Dix ans plus tôt, dans un texte intitulé « Les berceaux de la jeune peinture », André Warnod, critique d'art et fidèle allié, la résume ainsi : « Voyez aussi le cas d'une galerie comme celle de Mlle Berthe Weill. Lorsqu'on consulte la collection des catalogues de toutes les expositions qu'elle organisa dans sa boutique (…), on reste stupéfait qu'elle n'ait pas à sa porte une limousine grosse comme une locomotive. Tous les peintres qui ont un nom à présent, tous ceux qui ont joué un rôle dans l'art d'aujourd'hui ont été accueillis par elle alors qu'ils débutaient dans la carrière et n'étaient soutenus par personne. Ils y sont tous ». Un parcours hors-norme que celui de Berthe Weill, celui d'une femme dans un monde de l'art encore très misogyne, une femme qui a su s'imposer par sa volonté inébranlable mais aussi par son humour et son sens de l'autodérision. Irma vertelt over de opening van de meest recente tentoonstelling, met een werk van Alex da Corte, getiteld BAM! BAM! BAM! De expositie is een samenwerking met Sadie Coles HQ, in het kader van EENWERK HELLO. Dit is een nieuw initiatief, onderdeel van de vier tentoonstellingen die jaarlijks gemaakt worden, waarin Irma een werk wil tonen in coöperatie met een internationale galerie. Zij vertelt dat Julius' grote kracht als galerist was om bezoekers te blijven verbazen. Grote namen en onbekende namen wisselden elkaar af in de 48 tentoonstellingen die hij in zeven jaar samenstelde. Door zijn keuzes creëerde hij een verrassend diagram met uitschieters, aldus Irma. Ter ere van Julius maakte zij dit voorjaar de tentoonstelling 'I'm still here', een uitspraak die hij deed op zijn laatste dag. Het ene werk (naast poëzie van zijn ouders en foto's) dat werd getoond waren twee klokken die in het begin dezelfde tijd aangeven maar steeds meer uit elkaar gaan lopen. 'Perfect Lovers' heet dit werk van Felix Gonzales Torres, waarbij de klokken uiteraard Julius en Irma symboliseerden.Naast het runnen van galerie EENWERK is Irma vooral boekenmaker. Het pand van EENWERK en Irma Boom Office lopen in elkaar over.Op dit moment werkt ze aan verschillende boeken; voor Tilda Swinton, voor een tentoonstelling in Eye, voor Steve McQueen en voor Nick Cave. Irma ontwerpt voor Het Rijksmuseum en ze werkt nu aan een boek en tentoonstelling voor het Japanse Muji in Tokyo. Werken doet zij het liefst 's nachts, in absolute stilte. Die concentratie is nodig, want elk boek is anders, zij werkt niet routineus. Een proces waarin zij telkens weer opgaat en waar zij in deze aflevering uitgebreid over vertelt. Een aflevering over analoog werken, intuïtie en over een maakproces als zoektocht waarvan je niet weet waar het zal eindigen. Althans, aan het einde ligt daar altijd 'dat ding', in Irma's woorden. Dat boek, die ene unieke publicatie. Mooi of lelijk, dat maakt niet uit, want het komt van binnenuit.

Wolfgang Hollegha schießt mir regelmäßig mitten hinein ins Herz. Und mit Guenther Holler-Schuster habe ich mit einem Menschen gesprochen, dem es offenbar ähnlich geht. Er hat die nun bald endende Ausstellung an der Neuen Galerie in Graz kuratiert und stand mit Hollegha oft im Austausch. Ich glaube nicht, dass ich einen besseren Gesprächspartner hätte finden können. Dass wir immer wieder beim schöpferischen Prozess landeten war schon auffällig. Aber die Wucht, mit der die Bilder über uns hereinbrechen ist schon außergewöhnlich. Wer sie nicht schon gesehen hat, die Ausstellung "Es gibt allerdings Unaussprechliches", der sollte sich sputen. Am 2. November bietet sich die letzte Chance. Airco Caravan is terug in Nederland. Op de Big Art kunstbeurs is werk van haar te zien, een wand van 27 meter. Tegelijkertijd zijn enkele van haar werken te zien in Galerie du Nord in Amsterdam-Noord, tijdens de tentoonstelling ‘A Handmaid's Tale', georganiseerd door de internationale feministische kunstbeweging Nasty Women.
