David Lee Murphy shows us what it was like in 1995 to hang out with the "Party Crowd"... or does he? What's going on below the surface of this honky-tonk celebration, and what do "Neon Moon" and "The Thunder Rolls" have to do with it? I bet you thought this one was straightforward, didn't you? Listen to see if you agree with Melton that there's something deeper here.

David Lee Murphy is a country music artist and songwriter. Murphy, whose songs “Dust On The Bottle” and “Party Crowd” remain staples on country radio today, is also a mastermind behind many other hit songs. His credits include Jason Aldean’s “Big Green Tractor” and “The Only Way I Know,” Kenny Chesney’s “Til It’s Gone” and “Living In Fast Forward,” as well as Thompson Square’s GRAMMY-nominated “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not.”
Our newest episode has us covering more Fantasia Film Festival offerings, this time in the form of a video game adaptation, a zombie flick that cuts close to home and a suspenseful French-Canadian twist on the idea of vampires. First up is Detention, directed by John Hsu, which is an adaptation of the game of the same name that follows a group of students who defy book ban orders in Tiawan during the White Terror. After that is Bleed With Me, directed by Amelia Moses, a tale of friends who go on vacation to cabin where things quickly turn strange becuase (you guessed it) things aren't quite on the up and up. The final movie this week is Yummy, a Belgian zombie flicks directed by Lars Damoiseaux that's heavy on the gore and the laughs and may or may not be based on Rigby's life. ***************************** “Party Crowd 2” by Kolezan is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Bong Hit” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Breath in and out Cigarette” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 “Metal Loop” by thunderstorm10 is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Scream 1” by TheSubber13 is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 "Death Metal Track" is licensed under CC BY 3.0 ****************************************************** Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on facebook, Instagram, and on Twitter. Episode 157 finds the crew back with Rigby out of the sick house, and she ain’t got the ‘rona. This episode the crew are back at Fantasia International Film Festival 2020 and check out Brea Grant’s 12 HOUR SHIFT starring Graveyard favourite Angela Bettis, best known for her role as May in the titular indie horror comedy film, as junkie nurse Mandy who feeds her heroin habit by illegally selling organs. We also have a peek at The Mortuary Collection, Ryan Spindell’s horror anthology series and there’s lots of talk about Angus Scrimm, dicks doing things they weren’t meant to do, mercy killing your wife a la James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2 and more. The Mortuary Collection was just picked up by Shudder as part of their fall line-up, so horror fans better keep their eyes peeled for this awesome Creepshow-esque spooky send up. This is our second official podcast episode of coverage for Fantasia Festival 2020 and we are so psyched for the awesome films we have seen so far and so very psyched to check out more. ****************************** “Party Crowd 2” by Kolezan is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Bong Hit” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Breath in and out Cigarette” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 “Metal Loop” by thunderstorm10 is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Scream 1” by TheSubber13 is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 "Death Metal Track" is licensed under CC BY 3.0 ****************************************************** Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on facebook, Instagram, and on Twitter. Episode 156 finds the crew a ninja down, with Rigby doing whatever it is Rigby does (probably something vodka related), discussing the documentary Clapboard Jungle from director Justin McConnell that's playing at this years online Fantasia Film Festival starting August 20th. Clapboard Jungle uses Justin's own personal journey of getting his films made as a framework to dive into all the dark corners of the indie film world that you might not thing of when you think of people making movies. Throughout there are interviews with Gueillermo del Toro, Stuart Gordan, George Romero, our fav Steven Kostanski and a whole host of indie genre film names you'll recognize. The second half of this episode has us talking about McConnell's film Lifechanger (not part of Fantasia this year. It has it's premiere there in 2018), which was being made while Clapboard Jungle was being filmed. Episode 154 of the Drunk in a Graveyard is up and this week Scott, Robin and Rigby are back in the soju and Shudder saddle and check out summer time poolside crocodile movie The Pool from Thailand starring a man, a woman, and a big ass crocodile. There's talk about dumping your tits out in the grocery store, measuring things in units of Henry Cavills, which soju is superior, and how we all just might be secret members of BTS. This episode Scott, Robin and Rigby (who has returned wielding soju and a deep knowledge of Korean drama's) talk 2010's Terror Trap and the recently released Relic. Terror Trap, a low, low, incredibly low budget murder hotel flick is up first and just so happens to star Graveyard favourite Michael Madsen as the big name draw. Spoiler: I don't think he can save this one. After that it's Relic, the newly released film that attempts to tackle dementia and old age, in maybe not the most graceful or successful way. “Party Crowd 2” by Kolezan is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Bong Hit” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Breath in and out Cigarette” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 “Metal Loop” by thunderstorm10 is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Scream 1” by TheSubber13 is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 "Death Metal Track" is licensed under CC BY 3.0 ****************************************************** Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on facebook, Instagram, and on Twitter. This week Scott and Robin find out what happens when you watch too many movies about dolls in short pants back to back. Spoiler: it isn't pretty. First up is "Brahms: The Boy 2", a sequel to 2016's "The Boy", this follow up throws everything that made sense from the first movie right into the trash in an attempt to the series start over(?). Obviously this has mixed results. After that is "Cruel Peter: The Boy", an indie leaning movie with a subtitle that seems to try and make a connection to The Boy series that isn't there. What is there is 100% more weird little doilies being worn as clothing. Oh and kids saying creepy stuff because you need that. This week, the crew is chatting about all kinds of stuff, starting off with the all new and updated Drunk in a Graveyard Patreon page, which will be including our poetry class - Michael Madsen's Poetical Poetry. In other not so hilarious or edumacational news, Robin and Scotty chat about the Twitch playthrough of KHOLAT, which is a Polish/Russian game that originated on PC that just got a Nintendo Switch port that tells the story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident and is narrated by British actor Sean Bean. Complicated game mechanics and much wandering in the snow seem to hamper the spooks and scares, but our crew shall prevail. Rounding out the episode, the crew chats about Blumhouse Picture's latest effort "YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT" starring Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried which is just a cautionary tale about AirBnB listings. This week, we're talking about Shudder's newest horror anthology (that received a special pre-streaming release this past weekend on The Last Drive In with Joe Bob Briggs) Scare Package which takes all the tropes we know and love/loath and puts them in horror short form. Some are good, some are great - you know the drill. After that we're talking about a classic horror hostesses' film debut - Elvira: Mistress of the Dark - which Arrow has just released in blu-ray format. Mistress of the Dark is the closest the spooky goth set gets to a dumb '80s teen comedy and we love it beehive hair and all. ****************************************************** “Party Crowd 2” by Kolezan is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Bong Hit” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Breath in and out Cigarette” by OnionEye is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 “Metal Loop” by thunderstorm10 is licensed under CC BY 3.0 “Scream 1” by TheSubber13 is licensed under CC BY-NC 3.0 "Death Metal Track" is licensed under CC BY 3.0 ****************************************************** Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like us on facebook, Instagram, and on Twitter. Episode 149 of the Drunk in a Graveyard podcast is here and it's another Arrow Video week as we dive into two screeners lovingly sent over to us from our pals at Arrow Video and this time it's the J-Horror power hour as we pick up the phone and don't screen our calls with One Missed Call and One Missed Call 2. Mimiko may not have the psychic-well powers of Sadako, or the cruel death rattle of Kayako, but goddammit she's trying her best. We chat about why Takashi Miike rules, why haunted cellphone movies don't work in 2020 and we try very much in vain to make any sort of sense of One Missed Call 2. So pick up the phone, don't be alone, and dial 1-666-GRAVEYARD where real horror nerds are waiting to talk to you. Episode 148 of the Drunk in a Graveyard podcast is here and it's Arrow Video week as we dive into two screeners lovingly bequeathed to us from our pals at Arrow Video. The first one finds us lost in a 1930s jazz club with Robert Altman's depression-era noire "Kansas City". There's mob bosses with cool names, all the saxophone solos you need, and also Jennifer Jason Leigh is there! Rounding out the episode we chat about Jose Ramon Larraz's Spanish-American slasher "Edge of the axe", which is short on plot but big on fun. Come give us a hand - we caught at least twelve trout and listen to this episode. Per maggiori informazioni e materiale su questo cimitero, visita il sito camposantopodcast.comSe vuoi contribuire al progetto: https://ko-fi.com/camposantopodcastCredits:Canzone della sigla: "Beat the Burglar" by scottholmesmusic.comGrafiche: Elena Lombardi lombardielena.comEffetti sonori:Da orangefreesounds.com- "Horse Walking", "Street Crowd Ambience", "Horse Pulling Carriage", "Horse Neigh", "Handbell Ringing", "Shuffling Cards", "Money Sound", "The Sound of Footsteps", "Wind Noise", "Glass Breaking Sound" by AlexanderDa soundbible.com- "Old Fashioned School Bell", "Steam Train Whistle", "Party Crowd" by Daniel Simion- "Children Playing" by StephanDa freesound.org- "Laughing Kid Again"by NoiseCollector- "Saloon Piano, Honky Tonk" by vdublin- "Drunken Saloon Party Crowd" by Craigsmith- "Saloon Door" by Ramon Di Pasquale- "Western movie style gunbattle" by YleArkisto
Episode 147 of the Drunk in a Graveyard podcast is here and it's a more serious one this week, Robin and Scotty chat about two First Nations/indigenous films - the first one being Mohawk, written by Grady Hendrix (My Best Friend's Exorcism, Paperbacks from Hell) and co-written / directed by Ted Geoghegan (We Are Still Here), a film that stars Kaneihtiio Horn (The Wild Hunt, Hemlock Grove) & Eamon Farren (The Witcher) in a supernatural dark forest period piece that is brutal in its depictions of violence, madness, and colonialism. The second film is one that the graveyard has been waiting for and it's Jeff Barnaby's Blood Quantum, a Mi'kmaq First Nations zombie film that is all too appropriate and terrifying given the time of plague we currently find ourselves living in. Blood Quantum stars Michael Greyeyes (Are You Afraid of the Dark, True Detective, American Gods), Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Kiowa Gordan, & Stonehorse Lone Goeman. It was filmed on location in the Kahnawake Mohawk and Listuguj Mi'kmaq reserves in Quebec and the city of Campbellton in New Brunswick. Episode 146 of the Drunk in a Graveyard podcast is here and this week, Robin and Scotty chat about Blumhouse's Fantasy Island which was described as "Cabin In The Woods meets Westworld" (yikes). Michael Rooker doing a Three Stooges impersonation was there, and there's talk about the best and worst fantasies you could have on an island that makes fantasies come true. Finishing up the episode, the crew chats about the funniest movie we didn't know we needed - a Canadian hidden gem called Draghoula about a Jewish drag queen vampire played by a guy who fronted a French-Canadian goth band Talamasca. You can listen to the Draghoula soundtrack here. Episode 145 of the Drunk in a Graveyard podcast is here and this week, Robin and Scotty get lost in the weeds chatting about The Room (no, not the Tommy Wiseau version) and the pros and cons of instant babies, microwaving your nutsack and more. New release We Summon the Darkness starring Johnny Knoxville is up next and it's a heavy metal Satanic Panic romp that actually includes the "heavy metal" part, unlike other films that have explored this subject matter. Rounding out the show is DeadBall, a Japanese splatter gore comedy film about baseballs, babes in hot pants, some distinctly problematic elements, and then a boys in prison trope(??). Scott and Robin had a long weekend filled with questionable cinema and are here to tell you all about it. First up is the 1960 vampire film Blood and Roses, one of many adaptations of the Carmilla story but this time around featuring vampires, explosions and vampires caught in explosions. Next up is Girls Club, a rape-revenge film from the early '80s that has an identity crisis but some effective messages. The final movie covered this week is Danzig's Verotika, an adaptation of his comics from the '90s directed by the Zig man himself. Episode 140 of the Drunk in a Graveyard horror podcast features a return to us being sluts for A24, and we are chatting about 2019 crime thriller "Uncut Gems" directed by the Safdie brothers and starring Adam Sandler. This film is currently receiving critical praise for it's relentless anxiety inducing soundscape, and the acting of Adam Sandler - how does it match up to our expectations? You will have to listen to find out. We were very happy that the Kamloops Film Society brought in this film for some screenings. We also share some weird news about ghost ships, some Creeps of the Week (TM), HBO's Watchmen, punching your boyfriend on New Year's, flesh hungry cats, and meth where it shouldn't be. This week, Ep 140 of the Drunk in a Graveyard VODcast is streamed in a video format over on our Twitch channel. Episode 139 of the Drunk in a Graveyard horror podcast finds Scotty and Robin haunted by an impulse buy from the discount rack as they discuss A24's British neo-giallo horror comedy "IN FABRIC", which is about a killer dress. There's bizarre news about sex tortoise's, American Horror Story being renewed for some reason, snakes where they shouldn't be, masturbating while the police watch, Wal-Mart sword duels and more. This week also marks a special occasion - the first ever Drunk in a Graveyard VODcast where the podcast is streamed in a video format over on our Twitch channel. It's remake vs remake this week as Robin and Scott talk about Nicolas Pesce's newest adaptation of the Grudge as well as the American remake from 2004. Think of it as a compare and contrast sort of thing. After getting all the grudge out, your hosts take a dive into the news hole and pull out stories about extremely large tape worms, the murder of a priest that sounds like a S. Craig Zahler script, the almost decade long wait for the bronze Robocop statue in Detroit and more messy stuff you're sure to dig. This weeks episode is about as jolly as they come with Scott and Robin discussing Dial Code Santa Clause aka Deadly Games, a film both have wanted to see for years that was added to Shudder's streaming service this season. This week Scott and Robin keep the Christmas spirit alive with a look at the direct-to-video Krampus movie "Krampus: The Reckoning" which may or may not be the Ghost Rider/Krampus cross-over we've all been waiting for. Episode 135 marks the first episode of the 2019 Christmas season, and appropriately the crew is chatting about newly released British zombie Christmas musical - "Anna And The Apocalypse" starring Thoros of Myr from Game of Thrones as an evil headmaster Snidely Whiplash type, featuring Glee-esque tracks about killing zombies. This film is a fun 90 minute holiday romp with enough Evil Dead-esque gore to keep the gore hounds impressed. After that the crew takes a dive into the news bag and comes back with stories about UFOs in Brazil, getting your burrito burgled, emotional support roosters, garlic where it doesn't belong, and turning the nail salon into a butcher shop. Episode 134 is all about killer nuns and teenage serial killers as Robin and Scott talk about the Arrow's new remaster of 1979 nunsploitation film Killer Nun and then 2017's hyper-modern Tragedy Girls. This week Scott and Robin have a Robert Eggers power hour and discuss both his new film The Lighthouse as well as the movie that put him on the map back in 2015, The Witch. We also discuss a trip we recently took to Leo's Video in Kelowna BC, who are in the process of selling off their phenomenal movie collection before closing their doors early next year. After that it's time to jump into the news hole and talk about coked up feral hogs, literal brain worms, Sasquatch sexual assault, chicken so good people are willing to commit murder over it and more of the nonsense you've come to expect. Scott and Robin climb out of the well for a double feature of Ring and Ring 2, recently restored as part of the Arrow Ring boxed set. This week is a special episode and a first for the Drunk in a Graveyard crew - with a special phone interview with man behind the many plastic masks - Tobias Forge from Ghost. The crew was lucky enough to be able to catch the band on their Penticton stop of their Ultimate Tour Named Death tour and were able to catch up with Tobias afterwards. There was talk of kitties, weed, Zardoz, being afraid of the dark and Cardinal Copia's idea of a perfect date. Enjoy. It was once said that DrunkInAGraveyard.com has all the style and panache of a Dead Baby Joke, and that comment has stuck around so much that we figured it was only appropriate to check out the Christian Pro-Life propaganda film "Unplanned" based on "memoir" by Abby Johnson (spoiler: it's about as based on a true story as Texas Chainsaw and the Conjuring is, just FYI) and do a dead baby double feature by pairing it with a find from the annals of Netflix - Thai Pro-Life propaganda dressed up as a horror film "The Unborn Child" which actually is based on the true story of a discovery of 2002 fetuses at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok. From abortion clinic to news hole, the crew talks some bizarre news about having such a huge dick that people think you're stealing, clawing out your eyes high on meth, having a heart attack because you ate too much wasabi, getting blown sky in a porta potty and playing Rammstein all night long. Also in light of the fact that we covered a heavier than usual topic on this week's episode and that both of these films are basically propaganda, we have donated some cash from our Patreon earnings this month to Planned Parenthood, as we support reproductive justice and freedom.
