Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 3. God's Minister – 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification and redemption 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” Respond today. Thursday night: band concert Friday: Beach Day Chapel: Mary Reading with Grade 7s and 1s Upcoming Dates: June 22: Last half day for K-8 Grade 8 parents are organizing a lunch at Boston Pizza for Grade 8 students. This is not an official school event and VCS staff will not be present, but we encourage parents to consider allowing their child to take part. From 7C: In this unit in science, students have been learning about how climate change impacts people around the world, and how people are responding to climate change (i.e. mitigation, adaptation). Students were given a climate change profile of a real person around the world, and learned how to think like them and speak like them. Students interviewed and were interviewed by 6 other students, to learn about how climate change impacts people differently. Students then compared and contrasted these profiles with this graphic organizer. Today I met a national treasure. It was great to connect with a women who not only is an amazing contributor to her community, but has an amazing story of transformation. A little about Nicquelle from Nicquelle... I am Nicquelle Jones my most recent job was working at Therapeutic Health Services in Seattle, WA in the Capitol Hill area as a treatment supervisor. I decided to resign to finish my bachelor's degree in Applied Behavioral Science and to take care of my husband. At THS I supervised SUDPT's, SUDP's and worked with a diverse population of Clients in the Seattle, King Co area. I began at THS working with the King Co. Drug Diversion Program, Alcohol and Drug Program and Opiate Substitute Treatment Program. I use evidence based practices and psychoeducation with the Clients I've worked with. I am certified in Moral Reconation Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have personal experience being in recovery for multiple years and use the 12 steps model and mental health services as a form of support to stay healthy. I am a mother of two children and three grandchildren. I have personally experienced homeless and how hard it can be to find a job with a criminal background. In my early recovery I found out that she I could reinvent myself by going back to school while living in a women's transitional housing. My hobbies are: gardening, sewing, and I enjoy public speaking and participate in multiple positions at the church I attend. I also participate in feeding the homeless through a church organization and facilitate recovery workshops using the Seeking Safety Model. Meet Mrs. Kelly Henderson, once homeless and now one of the top agents in the valley of the sun. Sitting down with Kelly was an honor and a privilege. On this episode, Kelly shares her past experience of growing up homeless in Arizona, without much to buy food with, but nevertheless loving life as a youngster. Kelly has always been motivated to achieve. A University of Arizona alum, she began her real estate career with Keller Williams Realty Biltmore Partners and was named the “Rookie of the Year”. She additionally was acknowledged among the industry's best as a recipient of the 2015 "30 Under 30" award.  Kelly met the love of her life during their time at the University of Arizona.
