Drawn from Tara's book, Radical Compassion (2020), these three talks explore how the RAIN practice (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture) awakens the active, embodied caring that heals and frees our hearts. Through the framework of this practice, we look at how we can reconnect with the gold of our true nature, navigating life's challenges with mindfulness and love. In Part 3, Tara explores: How the RAIN practice fosters compassion and connection by dismantling barriers to belonging. The three primary blocks to compassion: self-centered attention, creating a "bad other," and fear of overwhelm. How "stealth metta" and the mantra "We are friends" can soften our habitual biases and awaken kindness. The transformative power of seeing the "goodness behind the mask" in ourselves and others. The practice of Tonglen - breathing in suffering and breathing out care, to transform pain into a source of strength and connection.
Some Christians wrongly assume that the safest place to be is in the center of God's will. However, if we're going to follow Jesus and demonstrate radical compassion toward those in need, then safety should not be our ultimate concern. In this message from Matthew 9:35–10:42, David Platt points out that the danger of our lives may actually increase as we follow God's will. But the good news is that the One who sends us out into the world has promised to be with us, to sustain us, and to give us an eternal reward based on the salvation that he has provided.Explore more content from Radical.

Not all of us are wired in such a way so that compassion is our first thing. It's not that we don't care, it's just that compassion takes time. And in this day and age, having compassion ??? well, we just don't have the time. Jesus ??? Jesus was a man of extraordinary compassion.Support the show: https://christianityworks.com/channels/adp/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

You can watch this full conversation and 22 others. SAND has created a program with leading historians, spiritual teachers, trauma therapists, poets and performers to complement the themes explored in the film and provide a larger historical, cultural and social context to the plight of the Palestinian people. Purchase Conversations on Palestine In this conversation, Gabor Maté and Buddhist teacher Tara Brach explored the harrowing situation in Gaza through the Bodhisattva path. Their conversation served as an invitation to reassess our spiritual practices and embody the Bodhisattva spirit today, encouraging active solidarity with the suffering. We appologize for any audio distortions from this conversation. This episode was recorded live on Zoom with some bad connection sounds throughout. Gabor Maté, M.D. is a specialist on trauma, addiction, stress and childhood development. How might psychedelics, also known as plant medicine, revolutionize our approach to mental health by offering swift healing for lifelong trauma and PTSD for people in traumatic jobs such as police officers without the need for prolonged traditional therapy? What are the legal ramifications of growing and consuming plant medicine? Asking questions like these is what led to this three part series on Food Heals where we are discussing how plant medicine can help us heal. In this series you are hearing brand new interviews with leading experts in the field of psychedelics who share their personal healing journey as well as how you can access the power of plants to heal yourself as well - Maybe you heard out last episode with Derek the founder Pachamama Sanctuary, and you are ready for your own Ayahuasca retreat or perhaps you want to grow plant medicine at home like Paul taught us in the first episode in the series. Or perhaps you'll be inspired by today's guest current clothing designer and former police officer Nick Motycka who healed 15 years worth of job-related trauma. Nick Motycka was a police officer who was suffering from job related trauma and PTSD. Traditional therapies didn't work, so he explored plant medicine. In a breakthrough session, he processed 15 years of trauma in one day, shifting from severe PTSD to no longer meeting the criteria for a diagnosis. His mind was blown. Now free from trauma's effects, Nick resigned from law enforcement, aligning his life with his values, and founded a clothing company, Flow State Designs. Flow State Designs isn't just about clothes; it's a lifestyle. Nick focuses on using the best textiles, made by workers earning fair wages in Canada, minimizing environmental impact. His hope is that the brand enhances well-being and helps individuals find their unique flow in life. Thank You to Our Sponsors! "... mad methodology primes us to extend radical compassion to the madpersons, queer personae, ghosts, freaks, weirdos, imaginary friends, disembodied voices, unvoiced bodies, and unReasonable others, who trespass, like stowaways or fugitives, in Reasonable modernity. Radical compassion is a will to care for, a commitment to feel with, a striving to learn from, and an openness to be vulnerable before a precarious other, though they may be drastically dissimilar to yourself. Radical compassion is not an appeal to an idyllic oneness where difference is blithely effaced. Nor is it a smug projection of oneself into the position of another, thereby displacing that other. Nor is it an invitation to walk a mile in someone else's shoes and amble, like a tourist, through their lifeworld, leaving them existentially barefoot all the while. Rather, radical compassion is an exhortation to ethically walk and sit and fight and build alongside another whose condition may be utterly unlike your own. Radical compassion works to impart care, exchange feeling, transmit understanding, embolden vulnerability, and fortify solidarity across circumstantial, sociocultural, phenomenological, and ontological chasms in the interest of mutual liberation. It persists even and especially toward beings who are the objects of contempt and condemnation from dominant value systems." - Dr. La Marr Jurelle Bruce RESOURCES: PDF for chapter 1: https://www.dukeupress.edu/Assets/PubMaterials/978-1-4780-1087-6_601.pdfBUY THE BOOK: https://www.dukeupress.edu/how-to-go-mad-without-losing-your-mind?utm_source=intro&utm_medium=title%20page&utm_campaign=pdf-intros-Apr21AUTHOR INFO: https://afamstudies.yale.edu/people/la-marr-bruceINSPIRING POST: https://ismatu.substack.com/p/there-is-no-revolution-without-madness#details and https://blog.apaonline.org/2023/04/25/the-blacker-the-madness-the-balmy-methodologies-of-la-marr-jurelle-bruce/GET AN OCCASIONAL PERSONAL EMAIL FROM ME: www.makeyourdamnbedpodcast.comTUNE IN ON INSTAGRAM FOR COOL CONTENT: www.instagram.com/mydbpodcastOR BE A REAL GEM + TUNE IN ON PATREON: www.patreon.com/MYDBpodcastOR WATCH ON YOUTUBE: www.youtube.com/juliemerica The opinions expressed by Julie Merica and Make Your Damn Bed Podcast are intended for entertainment purposes only. Have you ever wondered how God thinks of you? Or whether his thoughts about us change depending on our behavior or attitude? In this series, we'll be having a heart-to-heart—but not with each other. We'll be taking a look at the heart of God toward his people, told through one of Jesus' parables. To miss the heart of God is to miss the heart of the Christian faith.Music:Always Holding On - Brandon LakeSinging In The Victory - Austin Stone WorshipPieces - Bethel MusicNEXT STEPS: Wherever you are, we want to help you discover what's next.https://www.npaustin.com/whatsnextSTAY CONNECTED: Subscribe to stay up-to-date on all things Northpoint: https://www.youtube.com/@NorthpointAustinWebsite: https://npaustin.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/experienceno...Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/northpoint_ch/ABOUT US:We believe that for too long, the church has been known for what it's against. The Real Estate InvestHER Show with Elizabeth Faircloth and Andresa Guidelli
Welcome, ladies! In this minisode of the Real Estate InvestHER Show, Liz and Andresa discuss why you should stop reading real estate books. Before you judge, hear them out! They begin by stating that they are not recommending investing in real estate without proper knowledge or guidance. It is essential to read real estate books and be aware of the different strategies. However, they urge you to expand your library and recommend three books that have helped them in their journey. The first book is "Unreasonable Hospitality" by Will Guidara. This book teaches high-level hospitality, which can be applied to running a real estate business, especially in short-term or mid-term rentals. The second book is "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen" by Adele Faber. Although it's a parenting book, Liz and Andresa believe that communication skills are crucial in building a sustainable real estate business. And the last book is “Radical Compassion” by Tara Brach. A great resource on meditation and mindfulness, written in an interactive and engaging way! There you have it! Don't limit yourself to reading only real estate books. Expand your horizons with different genres that can help improve your mindset and skills as a successful entrepreneur. Quotes · "Reading a book on restaurants may seem unrelated to real estate, but the strategies on high-level hospitality in Unreasonable Hospitality can be applied to your business. Whether you're in short-term or mid-term rentals, this is a must-read for anyone in the hospitality industry.” (02:35 - 03:20) “Why read parenting books? Because if you are building a real estate business, and you are dealing with people; those books can provide great communication insights.” (04:33 - 05:00) · “Even though we have mentors, sometimes to feel alone. There are a variety of powerful meditations. But Ram Dass popularized the core of meditation in silence and deep contemplation. At the end of his life he would simply repeat the phrase and the ideas that I AM loving awareness. This invokes the I AM presence in the most powerful and simple way and tunes you into the a loving awareness which is the essence of the creator in the purest form.
Dealing with criticism, disappointment, and failure is never fun, but it's especially tricky when it comes to creative work. This week, I'm joined by illustrator Grace Miceli (aka @artbabygirl) to discuss tools and practices for working through those feelings and developing a resilient mindset. In addition to her work as an illustrator, Grace is currently in graduate school to become a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Creative Arts Therapist, so I knew she would be the perfect person to talk to about the intersection of art and emotion. In our conversation, she describes her decade-long journey with learning how to bounce back from failure and reframe those experiences as opportunities for learning and growth. Grace recommends thought work exercises for detaching from outcomes and breaking the habit of comparison. We also talk about the impact that art communities have had on our ability to handle failure and rejection, and Grace has helpful advice for anyone who has trouble finding their people. Join J.R. and LZ as they unpack this weeks conversation with the one and only, Pastor Greg Locke of Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. This conversation will give you an insight into the heart of the leader of one the nations most controversial spiritual movements. Take a listen, and enjoy! We're glad you are here.••••••••••••••••••••••••••••About our guest:Pastor Greg Locke and Global Vision Bible Church operate by these three main points.BIBLICAL PREACHING. When it comes to preaching, we believe in taking our time. We unapologetically stand on the word-by-word and chapter-by-chapter teaching of the Bible. It is our desire to be loud where God is loud and silent where God is silent. Our congregation knows that we always pick up in the exact spot that we left off the previous week. We believe that this type of Bible teaching not only encourages growth but gives us a deeper understanding of the whole scope of Scripture.EXTRAVAGANT GENEROSITY. Global Vision operates under one simple principle: You can't out give God. When we say “extravagant” we truly mean it. We believe in living totally open-handed throughout our entire community. We support major mission outreaches around the world and we generously serve our entire community as often as we can.RADICAL COMPASSION. Where Broken People Find New Meaning to Life is much more than a slogan at Global Vision. We endeavor to reach out to those who are hurting, marginalized, broken and in need of restoration. We have found that when we go after the people that nobody wants, the Lord sends us the people that everybody wants. Our entire congregation is known for being accepting, loving, gracious and forgiving. Also, be sure to check out Greg's new movie: COME OUT IN JESUS NAMEHelp us - buy some merch @ www.morelordkingdom.com
Sermons By Antioch Community Church in Beverly, MA (Boston Area)
This week, we heard from a panel of speakers (Alison Neumann, Bethany Neil and Anita Coco) on our value of Radical Compassion. Jesus looked at broken humanity through the lens of love and responded with compassion. He loved everyone just as they needed to be loved. We follow Jesus' lead by seeing the world through God's grace-filled eyes, and becoming real-time messengers of His grace, hope, and healing.

This episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens and ButcherBox. Experiencing feelings of grief is a natural part of the human experience. While it can be difficult to sit with hard feelings such as grief, avoiding our emotions only makes them louder. Through practice, we can learn to accept our feelings in the moment. We can work to break the pattern of being at war with the present moment and let our feelings come and go as needed. In today's episode, I talk with Dr. Joan Rosenberg, Susan David, and Tara Brach about situations that prompt grief, why facing our emotions is healthier than bottling them up, and how to accept difficult emotions. Dr. Joan Rosenberg is a cutting-edge psychologist who is known as an innovative thinker, acclaimed speaker, and trainer. A California-licensed psychologist, Dr. Rosenberg speaks on how to build confidence, emotional strength, and resilience; achieving emotional, conversational, and relationship mastery; integrating neuroscience and psychotherapy; and suicide prevention. She is the author of 90 Seconds to a Life You Love: How to Master Your Difficult Feelings to Cultivate Lasting Confidence, Resilience, and Authenticity. Susan David, PhD, is one of the world's leading management thinkers and an award-winning Harvard Medical School psychologist.
