Is it time to pick a cybersecurity safeword? Mike Storm, Cisco Cybersecurity Distinguished Engineer and our guest on The Catalyst, thinks so. With over 30 years of cybersecurity experience, even he finds himself challenged by new AI-powered scams. Why? The short answer: At the heart of it, humans are an easier target than computers and software, because human psychology and behaviour have been known quantities for millennia, he says. Attackers prey on behavior wired into us by exploiting things like the “click principle,” the unconscious reflex that drives us to click on links, buttons and other shiny digital objects without a second thought. With AI at their disposal and uninhibited by ethical, legal or regulatory concerns, these bad actors are already able to contextualize these attacks in ways that become more intimate and convincing all the time. How can “the good guys” respond? Storm and host Aaron Brooks talk about how, in this world, everything from devices, applications, links, and infrastructure and trust is based on identity. Distributed identities will become more of an object you own, says Storm. He also sheds some light on the next phase of cybersecurity's evolution and provides his tips for making yourself “un-hackable.” Featuring: Mike Storm, Cybersecurity Distinguished Engineer at Cisco The Catalyst by Softchoice is the podcast dedicated to exploring the intersection of humans and technology. Our first premiere of the day sees two generations of techno join forces to showcase a hypnotic masterclass as Jereon Search & Pushmann release on N&N Records. Hailing from the Netherlands and Spain respectively, the pair lean on shuffling drum grooves alongside a whirlpool of swirling sci-fi-orientated synth lines for a transfixing techno tool. One of the leading lights in Spain's contemporary techno scene Pushmann has put together a colossal various artist's release with music coming from Alexander Kowalski, DJ Shufflemaster, Doug Cooney, Hertz Collision, Ken Ishii, Mike Storm, Ritzi Lee, The Advent & more on his label N&N Records. We premiere Jeroen Search & Pushmann's collaboration. Hailing from Spain Pusmann produces a Detroitesque sound with a clear and strong influence from the cities of Berlin and Birmingham. His sound is widespread but often finds itself in the realms of fast-paced, industrial, and mechanical high-octane techno. The Spaniard's releases have seen massive support from Ben Sims, Truncate, Laurent Garnier, Mark Broom, Slam, Dj Hyperactive, Kevin Sanderson, Orlando Voorn, Paul Mac, and many more. With previous releases on Hardgroove, Be As One Imprint, Suara, and more, the young DJ is one of the most exciting prospects in techno right now. A name that hardly needs introduction Jereon Search has been at the top of his game since the 90s. Jeroen Search, who has been cited by many as an inspiration, personifies an accurate and straightforward interpretation of techno music. He has consistently been at the face of contemporary modern techno. Known for his genre-defying unique sound, energetic performances, and forward-thinking live shows. Releases on Axis, Token, KEY Vinyl, and Figure, to mention a few, as well as on his own imprint Search and other labels have cemented his name as one of the great innovators in techno. We premiere Jereon Search & Pushmann's collaboration ‘Avoid Capture'. The track is a high-energy trip through space and time as the pair put their minds together to bring a head-scrambling excursion surrounded by nefarious synth lines and swinging drum grooves. The pair have both notably released on Jeff Mills Axis imprint, and you can find them finding a common dominion within that sci-fi and futuristic sound that is often harnessed on Mill's label. The data that SMBs protect is just as critical as that of the largest organizations. Oftentimes, these businesses have an extremely lean or even no IT department, so they are left without the proper security to protect their customers' valued information. Because of this, they become low-hanging fruit for hackers. Mike Storm, a Distinguished Engineer at Cisco, joins the podcast to talk about the security issues that SMBs face and simple solutions they can incorporate to protect their valued information.

The Local Selection Mix returns for it's 170th edition courtesy of one of the most promising techno act's on our emerald isle, James Cherry. The young DJ & producer has provided an hour long expedition into deep and winding soundscapes, equipped rippling synth lines and dazzling textures. James Cherry has been loitering around the fringes of the Irish techno scene for some time, with multiple stand out performances in the seminal Hangar club and some recent show's in Dublin's newest techno fortress, Cellar. The young DJ offers a divergent sound to the rumbling kicks and screeches that often inhabit Dublin's sound systems from week to week. James Cherry delves into deeper territories with trippy melodies, metallic percussive grooves, pulsating modulations and direct techno power. Having recently released on coveted label's such as Berlin's Corpus, Dublins Delinquent Delivery and most notably an album on the fabled Subsist Records which has been home to instrumental techno figures such as Stanislav Tolkachev, SHXCXCHCXSH, Ritzi Lee, Mike Storm & more. It's clear that James Cherry is carving his name into history of Irish techno. For James's contribution to the Local Selection Mix he stay's true to his clean-cut and spaced out sound, whilst delivering with power and precision. The youngster lyes on hypnotising rhythms and quivering energy shifts, as he keeps his finger on the trigger throughout the mix. Dancing around 90's inspired rhythms and melodies, Cherry doesn't trail too far pulsating modern sound, but somewhat hint's at classic techno nostalgia. This is proper techno, from one of the leading driving forces in quality techno in Ireland. Welcome to the #IIEX Europe Conference Series 2019. Recorded live in Amsterdam, this series is bringing interviews straight to you from exhibitors and speakers at this year’s event. In this interview, host Jamin Brazil interviews Mike Storm, COO at Neurons. This Episode’s Sponsor: GreenBook Contact Mike Online: LinkedIn Neurons [00:02] IIeX Amsterdam, I’m here with Mike the COO of hold on, wait for it, there we go, Neurons. That’s actually a pretty heady— [00:15] That’s pretty catchy, isn’t it? (Laughs.) [00:16] (Laughs.) It is. [00:18] It was a good name. (Laughs.) [00:20] I am surprised Neurons, Inc. was available. That’s pretty good. So, your business has been around about six years. [00:28] That is correct. [00:29] And you had mentioned to me you’ve been there five. Tell me a little bit about what you guys are doing. [00:34] Neurons, Inc. is what you would call a consumer neuron science company, meaning that we work with insides of the consumer. We do it with a very specific methodology of synchronizing EEG brain scanning and eye tracking. Meaning that we can adapt to various different touch points of the consumer being everything from marketing and advertising testing to website and retail testing and finally, of course, the final product and packaging. That’s what we’re doing. [01:04] I did eye tracking back in, and this is aging me a little bit, but in 2000, for Disney and ESPN, specifically. So, early web stuff, it was a process and a tremendous amount of gear in order to set it up, right? [01:23] That’s right. [01:24] It was quite literally like building Frankenstein. I just was at your booth and was admiring the hardware. So, it’s gotten lightweight— [01:35] It’s gotten so much better. Honestly, both the science behind it, the hardware, the software, the precision, everything has just been improved so much over the last 10 years that we’ve gotten to space where we can even test people in moving environments. Meaning that people can actually walk in a store with an EEG and eye trackers on, and we can follow not only what they do, but also what they see and what they feel. It means that you can tap into the mind of your consumers, and get some insights because sometimes, it’s not because we believe consumers want to lie, we just believe it’s hard, sometimes, to both remember what I just did, remember what I felt when I did it, and think about what I’m going to do soon. Therefore, having predictable tools and tools that can actually break things into second by second, emotional and cognitive levels, we just think that’s a whole new era of things that you need to look into. [02:29] I totally agree with you. I’m a quantitative researcher by trade. What you say is often times not getting to the actual purchase intent or— So that I think the ability for observed data to get connected to self-reported data is very powerful. Coupling that with, as you just said, being able to garner those insights in the context of an experience. You and I could be sitting here having a conversation, I could, which is very common, scroll through my feed quickly and see an ad. That context of the ad consumption needs to be taken into consideration, and so being able to passively garner my reaction to that ad is, I think, powerful. What kind of companies are using your services. [03:32] We’re mainly working with some of the larger companies in both Europe and the U.S. Fortune hundreds and people thereabout. It’s very much in various different spaces, because the consumer journey is important for all of these companies, and some might only be a website experience but still having that website optimized for whatever need it is, very important. The same for their marketing strategy. They want to know their campaigns are actually working on Facebook or on a website, and on TV for that sake. It’s a broad part of clients we have, but the biggest part is in technology, in clients like Google, Facebook,

From the beginning, the past is part of the musical training of Manuel Di Martino, who gained his first experience with traditional analogue instruments, using vinyls and an old turntable. The diligence and perseverance in the meanwhile allow him to build a solid musical culture projected also into the future, thus arriving to the place where most of all he wanted to be: behind the consolle. He managed, admirably, to make his way in the best clubs in Italy and releasing with important remixes: Raffaele Attanasio, Scan 7 and Dj Skull. In the 2015 he have open his label Persistence where he release with Raffaele Attanasio, Kaelan, Mike Storm, Hertz Collision, Mattia Trani, Johannes Volk, Jeff Rushin and more.
