What if our teenagers' risky choices, rebellion, or need to prove themselves are partly attempts to answer a deeper question: Am I ready to grow up, and does anyone see who I am becoming? For thousands of years, communities intentionally helped young people transition from childhood into adulthood. Today, many teenagers are left to create their own rites of passage through drinking, drugs, sexual experiences, reckless behavior, or other choices they believe will prove they are grown. In this episode, Kyle and Sara talk with Dr Arne Rubinstein about how parents can help teenagers experience this transition in a healthier, more meaningful way. Dr Arne explains why teenagers need belonging, emotional safety, meaningful challenges, trusted adults, and opportunities to discover the gifts they can contribute to the world. He also shares how families can create an intentional rite of passage without needing an elaborate ceremony or extended retreat. But this process is not only about helping teenagers mature. Parents must also be willing to change. As children move toward adulthood, parents are invited to release some control, relate to them differently, and create space for greater responsibility, independence, and trust. Australia's Modern Slavery Act has increased awareness but hasn't yet reduced incidents. According to Måns Carlsson, OAM, head of ESG at Ausbil Active Sustainable Equity, the key is moving beyond a “compliance mindset” to genuine leadership. This means harmonising laws internationally, adopting human rights due diligence (not just reporting), and using investor influence for practical engagement with companies.Investors can't guarantee portfolios are free from modern slavery risk, but they can:• Incentivise suppliers to meet responsible sourcing standards, focusing on deeper supply chain tiers (not just tier one).• Use tools like worker voice technology for real-time feedback, rather than relying solely on annual audits.• Collaborate with other investors and advocate for stronger, harmonised laws (e.g., import bans on goods made with forced labour).• Support companies to improve, rewarding progress rather than demanding perfection.The real power lies in ongoing, practical engagement and policy advocacy, not just risk assessments or box-ticking.Why it matters:Modern slavery is not just a legal or ethical issue—it's a material risk for companies and investors. Tottie has been part of the Australian performing arts industry for 4 decades, with an incredible career that spans music, film, television, radio and theatre. In the 80s, Tottie became known as Melbourne’s IT girl, and was part of the pop group, The Chantoozies. Over the next few decades she appeared on so many iconic Australian TV shows including Young Doctors, Prisoner, Neighbours, and The Sex/Life series to name just a few. Tottie is also a proud mum, a marriage celebrant and the niece of our beloved Olivia Newton-John. In 2020 Tottie was awarded an OAM for her contribution to charity and the performing arts. We hear all about Tottie’s unconventional upbringing and some of the incredible stories from her childhood. She was born in the 60s to a legend of the Australian nightclub industry, Brian Goldsmith and the model and actress Rona Newton-John. We hear the heartbreaking story of how Tottie’s mum left her and her 2 siblings, when Tottie was only 2.5, to pursue a career overseas and the huge impact that had on Tottie’s life. Tottie opens up about the absolutely beautiful relationship that she had with her aunt Olivia, who was always looking out for her and loving her in ways that her mother wasn’t able to. Olivia was a true angel in Tottie’s life. Not only that, but we hear some fun stories from Tottie’s love life and the lessons she’s learned along the way through the relationships she’s had. Tottie is someone who really has done a lot of work on herself, and is committed to continuing to learn and grow. It’s inspiring to listen to. We had so much fun in this chat with Tottie - it was absolutely like having another girlfriend with us over the back fence. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. “This was a panel of subject matter experts of various nurses and pharmacists. We often found common ground but also discovered new ideas, different touchpoints, and key junctures along that oral anticancer medication journey. The first is called the OAM [oral anticancer medication] workflow analysis tool. ... This [tool] allows an OAM program to really study where their processes are. Where are the gaps in the process and where might their patients be at risk? It's something that you can use within your setting to analyze your current processes and see where you can strengthen them. The second tool is something focused on patient and caregiver education. This includes a lot of information about what should be taught, how it could be taught, the best timing and so forth, according to the literature. ... The third tool is an assessment and grading tool. It's a fun tool that approaches symptom management using the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events grading tool. ... The fourth tool is a specialty pharmacy and patient assistance contact directory template. This is a spreadsheet that can be used by anyone navigating patient care with OAMs to keep track of their professional contacts. ... The final [tool] is the OAM adherence blueprint. This has a lot of important information on adherence, methods to assess adherence, and calculate adherence rate.” TS 7:15 LeFebvre: “Interprofessional collaboration is so essential just in day-to-day care, and OAM care is no different in that regard. Oncology nurses work in so many different settings and their role may be very different even if they have the same title. You can have OAM navigation that is completely handled in the pharmacy. I've talked with nurses who have said, ‘We don't even touch it.' But they do. Because when a patient has a combination regimen, they might have an infusion regimen that goes along with an oral therapy. Or that patient might just know that infusion room nurse so much better and they feel more comfortable [contacting them] when they have a side effect from their oral therapy. So, infusion nurses need to be aware of what the patients are on and what the potential side effects are.” TS 14:14 Anderson: “The resource for OAM education that we created is literally a blueprint of many resources out there to help nurses, pharmacists, and oncology professionals educate their patients on taking OAMs. ... [The OAM Care Compass] also helps with communication channels. It helps knowing that all the documentation is occurring and when everybody is documenting within their role and according to those key touchpoints, there's less opportunity to lose track of your patients because we know what's happening.” TS 16:33 Anderson: “I think the biggest misconception we see is that people think taking OAMs is easier than infusion therapies. And while it's true that OAMs do offer significant benefits such as the convenience and the ability for patients to take their medication at home, we are also placing a huge burden on our patients. They need to navigate that very complex health system to obtain their medication and understand their treatment plan and adhere to that precise regimen. Additionally, we are seeing more and more complex treatment regimens with combination therapies, which further increases the need for that early and ongoing education, monitoring, and support.” TS 20:38

تستعد فرقة أرز لبنان الفلكلورية بقيادة مؤسسها إيلي عاقوري لإقامة مهرجانها السنوي لعام 2025 في الثاني عشر من تشرين الأول/ أوكتوبر المقبل في بانكستاون غرب سيدني. وقد مُنح إيلي عاقوري وسام أستراليا (OAM) بمناسبة عيد ميلاد الملك تشارلز عام ٢٠٢٥، تقديرًا لمساهماته المتميزة في الفنون والتزامه الراسخ بالحفاظ على التراث الثقافي.

She is a book author of multiple books, some if which include her life as a former princess of Malaysia, fleeing an abusive relationship with her children, the children's kidnapping by their father, her separation from them for over a decade, reuniting and her role as a consultant to the US and Australian Department of Defense, and how she is helping others. In this interview, we meet Dr Gregory Levenston a respected doctor recently awarded an OAM for his tireless service to the community. Dr Levenston has worked in general practice in Sydney's eastern suburbs and worked as deputy mayor of Woollahra Municipal Council.

Indra Ban came to Australia back in 1975 and went on to become the first Nepali to receive the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). Over the past 50 years, she has been guiding and supporting the Nepali community in Sydney and around Australia.
