I am joined this week by the remarkable Maja Kristin. Maja is known as someone with a deep spiritual and philosophical foundation who creates massive change in the world, with "the heart of a philanthropist and the spirit of an entrepreneur." Today, we dive deep into her journey from a challenging childhood in San Francisco to becoming a successful lawyer and later, a thoughtful impact investor and philanthropist. You'll hear about Maja's early life growing up in the projects with a single mother struggling with sobriety, her determination to pursue education as a way out, and how these formative experiences shaped her views on money, giving, and risk-taking. Maja shares her path through law school, establishing her own women-focused law firm, and her eventual transition to impact investing. She discusses the pivotal moments in her life—including a divorce and her sister's passing—that led her to reconsider her relationship with wealth and how she wanted to use it to create positive change in the world. Listen as Maja talks about creating her "Family and Beyond" vision statement, bringing her family together to collaborate on philanthropic decisions despite different political views, and her current philosophy of "the last breath, the last dime" as she prepares to distribute her wealth rather than passing it down. Maja's story is a testament to the power of aligning money with values and using financial resources to foster connection, healing, and love. Key Topics: Growing up in the projects of San Francisco with a single mother and how that shaped Maja's early money stories The importance of education as a path out of poverty and Maja's journey through law school Starting her own women-focused law firm at age 30 and building it into a successful practice The impact of being kidnapped in her mid-30s and how it led to personal reassessment Transitioning from litigation to a more healing-focused approach to law How her divorce 15 years ago became a pivotal moment of financial liberation Taking on her sister's three children after her passing and how family influences financial decisions Creating the "Family and Beyond" collaborative giving model with family members across the political spectrum The difference between traditional investment, impact investing, and philanthropy Working with her daughter to make financial decisions aligned with their values Preparing to "die with zero" and giving away wealth rather than passing it down Evolving from a fear-based relationship with money to one grounded in love and connection Finding joy in spending on travel, ocean adventures, and creating a nurturing home Connect with Maja online: https://www.Majakristin.com/ Get Her Memoir: Instructions Not Included by Maja Kristin Find more from Syama Bunten: Instagram: @syama.co, @gettingrichpod Website: https://syamabunten.com/ Download Syama's Guide to Getting Rich: www.syamabunten.com Big Delta Capital: www.bigdeltacapital.com

It seeks to uncover hidden dynamics, unresolved traumas, or entanglements in the family lineage that may influence current issues. The process often involves using group role-play or visualization to represent family members and relationships, creating a “constellation” that reveals these patterns and helps to restore balance and harmony. See Transgenerational Healing Films: https://constellationarts.com/Walking in Your Shoes: WIYS is a process that allows the practitioner, in partnership with a facilitator, to address questions or needs through an intuitive questioning of the body-mind through movement. This is another means of “knowing” through your body. Occam's Razor is a principle that suggests the simplest explanation, with the fewest assumptions, is usually the best one. AFTERNOON DELIGHT PART 3! How can we build healthier, happier relationships that withstand the test of time? In this episode, we delve into the groundbreaking research of Dr. John Gottman, a pioneer in understanding what makes relationships thrive. We'll explore the infamous 'Four Horsemen' of relationship doom: Criticism, Contempt, Defensiveness, and Stonewalling. These behaviors can derail even the strongest bonds, and recognizing them is the first step toward fostering a more secure and loving connection. What sets the Gottman Method apart from traditional couples therapy? Unlike many approaches that focus primarily on past traumas, Gottman's method is rooted in extensive empirical research. He has studied thousands of couples to identify specific, measurable behaviors that predict relationship success. Instead of avoiding conflict, Gottman emphasizes constructive conflict resolution, equipping couples with effective communication skills to navigate disagreements positively. We'll introduce the Sound Relationship House Theory, a structured framework that outlines essential levels for strengthening relationships, such as building love maps, nurturing fondness, and creating shared goals. This clear roadmap is unique to the Gottman Method, providing couples with actionable steps toward improvement. Did you know that according to Gottman's research, couples who regularly exhibit the Four Horsemen are 80% more likely to break up? However, couples who practice his techniques experience a 94% success rate in improving their relationship satisfaction! Join us as we share three actionable tips to help you build a stronger foundation: Practice Appreciation – Make it a habit to express gratitude for your partner. Learn to Repair – Develop skills to recognize and address conflicts before they escalate. Foster Emotional Connection – Prioritize meaningful conversations and engage in shared activities. Tune in to discover how understanding and applying Gottman's principles can transform your relationship into a thriving partnership!

Every day, it seems like you can't escape news of layoffs, corporate downsizing, or restructuring. Today's guest, Benedikt Oehmen, has been directly impacted by it. Benedikt spent 17 years with Blizzard, a market leader in creating epic gaming experiences. In today's workplace, loyalty to employers—or even employers' loyalty to employees—feels like a relic of the past. So, how was that experience for him? For the most part, it was positive and enjoyable. But then, things shifted. Hearts were broken. Hopes were shattered. Now, Benedikt is turning that experience into something powerful. He's built a full-time practice to help others navigate similar challenges of layoffs and downsizing, offering a shift in mindset and sharing the principles from his book, where he lays out his “Big Three” strategies for stepping out of the shadows and moving on—better, faster, and stronger. Jen and her longtime friend, Amy Hardin, return together to introduce this previous interview with Jennifer Garner that was one of For the Love's top downloaded episodes of all time. Jen and Amy chat about their favorite Jennifer Garner projects and how impressed they are with her activism and philanthropic work. In the interview itself, Jennifer Garner shares how she navigates life as a mom, an entrepreneur, and an actress. So many of us have followed Jen's career through TV & film, but she takes us back to the early days when she fell in love with theater, doing auditions in New York while she slept on the floor of a friend's home who offered a place to lay her head. We also find out that her first job was working with Melissa Gilbert (Laura Ingalls of Little House on the Prairie fame) and how that eventually led to working with J.J. Abrams in Felicity, who then cast her in her breakout role as the star of Alias. The two Jens discuss everything from what it's like to raise kids as they transition from littles to bigs and what eventually drove Jen's pursuits outside of Hollywood to co-found Once Upon a Farm and become involved with Save the Children.  * * * Thought-Provoking Quotes: “Change is hard. I mean, I have a tendency to, or I did when I was younger, where I leapt into living in New York before I thought about living in New York. And then I leapt into moving to LA, and then had to absorb that, wait a minute, I just left this all. That was a big transition for me, because I didn't realize I had built a community for myself in New York.” - Jennifer Garner     “I hunted down what organization was really doing work in rural America and Save the Children was all over the world. Our whole global goal is to help kids where no one wants to go and where no one's helping them. So we are in Afghanistan, we're always in the middle of the Ebola crisis, we're always in the middle of helping kids as they're leaving Syria. And we're in those refugee camps and we're in disasters, and we are hand in hand with the Red Cross, and just one of the leading organizations helping kids in the whole world. And in the US, the work is so beautiful. And it's almost unknown, because we're in the little tucked away corners.” - Jennifer Garner   “I think food insecurity and poverty in America, it's a little bit invisible, because we want it to be. We choose what we look at. And so, it is, in some ways, easier to look across the globe and see it somewhere else in a country that is so different than ours or with such obvious distinctions. But the food insecurity in America is high, high, high.” - Jen Hatmaker  “You know what I love? I love any community. I just like to be in a community.” - Jennifer Garner   “What is saving my life right now? I mean, I can't imagine it ever being anything other than girlfriends.” - Jennifer Garner  Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Once Upon a Farm - https://onceuponafarmorganics.com/pages/jens-farm Save the Children - https://bit.ly/4dnOuHM 13 Going on 30 - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0337563/ The Last Thing He Told Me - https://bit.ly/4d9wEbK Love, Simon - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5164432/ Guest's Links: Jennifer's Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/jennifer.garner/?hl=en Jennifer's Twitter - https://twitter.com/thejengarner?lang=en Jennifer's Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/JenniferGarner/ Connect with Jen!
