Scott Freitag was the chief of the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, orCAFMA. The agency was created under Scott's leadership when two fire districts combined undera JMA to form CAFMA in 2015.CAFMA covers 365 square miles of territory of Yavapai County, Arizona. And it servesabout 100,000 residents from 12 stations.One day in August 2024, a press release showed up in email inboxes saying that theIAFF had censured Scott Freitag by a vote of 2,520 to 0. Iwas pretty startled to get this news because I know Scott Freitag to be anhonest, decent Fire Chief who was genuinely concerned about the welfare of hisfirefighters.As you'll hear, the no-confidence vote led to Scott's firing after 11 years asFire Chief in September 2024.How this all went down depends on whose story you believe. It may well have hadlittle to do with firefighting and much more to do with politics and a healthplan.

Announcements of a big employer moving to town, or a large infrastructure project, can often spark excitement. Community Benefits Agreements (CBAs), binding agreements created between community groups and organizations like real estate developers or large employers, are a powerful alternative that ensure people have a real say in shaping the outcomes these new investments will create for their communities. Jobs to Move America (JMA) is a national leader in leveraging CBAs to improve jobs and provide opportunities for historically disadvantaged communities and workers. An agency of Japan's government recently gave its first-ever "megaquake advisory," or warning message. 日本政府的一个机构最近首次发布了“超大型地震警告”或警告信息。The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued the warning after a powerful quake struck on August 8 off the southeastern coast of Japan's main island of Kyushu. 在日本气象厅发布这一警告之前，8月8日日本九州主岛东南海岸发生了一次强烈地震。The magnitude 7.1 quake caused no deaths or severe damage, but the advisory has led to questions and a sense of worry. Japan is among the countries most hit by earthquakes. The Philippine plate slowly pulls down on the Eurasian plate and causes it to release energy from time to time. It has worried people across the country. Some towns closed beaches and canceled yearly events. Cory M Coons is a professional independent performer, musician and awardwinning & nominated songwriter. With 30 years of performing and working inmusic, he has beenpassionate about music since his early teens as a guitar player/bassist &vocalist in High School. He began recording his own unique melodies and musicalideas while travelling and performing in a variety of very popular cover bandsthroughout the mid-to-late 90's in both Ontario and the United States, withstints in well known local high-energy acts such as “Heads Or Tales” and “ShakeThe Tree”, as well as the band “U.S”, (in which he toured most of the SouthEastern United States in 1998'). Then later formed his own Classic-Melodic Rockinfluenced namesake “Tycoons”, releasing two independent recordings andperforming throughout Eastern Ontario, Northern NY State, and Quebec in theearly 2000's. Hiswork with famed legendary record producer Ron Nevison, has earned him industryrecognition from the Los Angeles Music Awards, the Producer's Choice Honors, TheJosie Music Awards, International Singer-Songwriter Association and the RadioMusic Awards, among others. With a catalog that boasts severalcritically-acclaimed full length albums and EPs, as well as a handful ofwell-received singles. Since 2004', Cory has officially released 4 full length albums and 2 E.p's,(with another recent E.p released in 2020), featuring the singles "Leavin" and"Good Times Gone". He recently released a previous album "The Long Road Home" in2018, produced by Multi-Platinum Veteran Music Producer Ron Nevison, (Heart, BadCompany, Damn Yankees, Survivor, Styx, Night Ranger), along with fellow bandmate & guitarist/engineer Marc D. Muir. The album was nominated in 2019 for"Male Album Of The Year" at one of the biggest Independent Award Shows in NorthAmerica, the "Josie Music Awards", as well as 4 nominations at the 2020 JMA's,and 3 more at the 2021 JMA's. Cory also earned a nomination at the 2021"International Singer Songwriter Association" (ISSA) Awards in 2021 for"International Male Vocalist of the Year". His latest E.p "33.3" and previousalbum "The Long Road Home" were released on MTS Records, along with the "Share ALittle Time" (E.p) and a re-issue of the "Retrospective" compilation (spanning1999' - 2010'). The single "Leavin" was released early in 2020, and the followup single "Good Times Gone" was released in June of 2020, from the recent Ep"33.3". Recently, in December 2020, Cory released “Burning Bright at ChristmasTime” on MTS Records. The enchanting blend of acoustic guitar and sleigh bellscaptured the spirit of the holiday, and Coons' melodic sensibilities remainintact with another rootsy release that feels at home next to his finestreleases. “Burning Bright” also featured Coons' (at the time, 6-year-olddaughter) Charleigh, on backing vocals, giving the track a real family touch.Another independent single "Far Away" was released in early 2021, which alsofeatured Charleigh Lynn Coons (now 7) on backing harmonies on the track.Currently his latest single "Freedom Road" drops on Oct 1st. Cory was also named Best Rock Songwriter for “Long Road (Dead Man's Dream)”and Best Americana Artist for “Once Too Many, Twice Not Enough” at the 2018"Radio Music Awards" on The Indie Music Channel, as well as a "World SongwritingAwards Finalist" in 2019 for the single "Would You Stay".
