This has been a big year for me with not only attending some outstanding events, but continuing to design and run my own within the Inspire + Move community! I've recently been discussing this more with friends who also plan events for their own brands or are looking to do so in the future, so in this episode I wanted to chat about how I design my events, my intentions around them and what to be mindful of even if you are just attending! It is so lovely to get to share the joy surrounding them with you and I hope you can feel it too! Tune in to hear more on:• How I started my monthly micro event “Girlfriend Walks” and their evolution up until now!• Doing things purely for joy and without always looking for the outcome. • Being mindful of scarcity vs. abundance energy and mindset as an event attendee and how to approach them.• The big “why” and where my passion comes from behind these events.• Gaining inspiration and learning from others.I hope this gives you an insight into my events, and what you can take away from planning or attending one! My next podcast jumps ahead 17 months (as I have already covered The Ramones and the Heatwave festival) to August 1981 and the first of three consecutive, annual Police-headlining festivals. It was the second of four consecutive summers where I went to a big open air festival following Heatwave in 1980, and then followed by Police Picnic '82 (concert no. 11) and Police Picnic '83 (concert no.19). It was also my sole live gig for that year. And while free of mind-altered shenanigans that characterized the other fests, this first Police Picnic is long on great music and at least 3 killer sets including one by the original Specials playing one of their last gigs and my finally getting to see Iggy Pop for the first time. Special Guests also attended this festival and kindly stops by once again to share his memories of that day. Come back next time for pelting patrons, a crowd-shocking performance, and Catherine O’Hara sightings.See the original 2010 blog entry here. NEXT PODCAST: Electropop comes to London, Ontario on a freezing March evening with Liverpool’s Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, or as they are sometimes simply known, OMD. Their set may have been egregiously delayed but OMD more than made up for it, playing a blazing show to a small but dedicated audience who danced right through the whole thing. London’s own Mettle, featuring former Demics guitarist Rob Brent, also delivered a terrific opening performance. Special Guests will return once again with his memories of the show. Stay tuned for adrenalized energy, happy hoofers, and frozen winklepickers.(EP 16, no.10) Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark with Mettle: Electricity, Centennial Hall, London, Ontario, Canada, Tuesday March 9, 1982.See the original 2010 blog entry here. mylifeinconcert.com

The history of every Canadian city isn't always what we think it is. We stumble upon some of it, on plaques in parks or benches across our cities but a lot of it remains unknown, especially the contributions of Black Canadians. This is the story of Oakville, Ontario, a predominately white, affluent neighbourhood that was shaped by 400 Black people who escaped slavery through the Underground Railroad in the mid 1800s. Through their entrepreneurial work, they shaped the city into what it is today. What other Canadian cities have similar unknown histories? And do we do enough to recognize those who really help create and shape the cities we live in? Guest: Genelle Levy

“ To get really clear on what it is they want, first and foremost because it becomes easy to start adopting what you think you’re supposed to be doing and what you think is expected of you. And it’s more important to get clear on what kind of business you actually want to create. So, if you know that, you will need to start being myopic from the beginning in just don’t, don’t consume information that doesn’t push your goal forward in some way.” ~ Staci Hall On today’s podcast I am interviewing Staci Hall. Staci is a successful home-based entrepreneur, online marketing trainer and Higdon Group Speaker who lives with her husband and two children, in Oakville Ontario. After finding success, Staci made it her mission to help people get superior results in their business, by teaching them how to market online, the right way... to attract, genuinely connect and create influence, that turns followers into buyers. Staci is a top leader in the network marketing space and currently leads a global team that is one of the fastest growing organizations in her company. Staci has topped leaderboards, graced stages and has worked closely with some of the biggest influencers in the online space. Staci is known in the industry as a heart-centred, straight shooter, who is a gifted teacher of attraction marketing with authenticity, and organic Facebook marketing, in particular. She has a quick wit, likes to have fun and her followers often have breakthroughs as a result of her tactical, yet simple style. Staci talks about learning how social media helped her business and her personal brand. Staci was struggling to build her network marking business offline, Staci became disenchanted with having to spend hours each week in coffee shops and hotel meetings. She turned to social media in search of a simpler, more duplicatable way to scale her business while still being present with her family. Staci can be reached on Facebook: Facebook.com/stacidhall Or email Workwithstaci@gmail.com

Every morning the first content I consume is business or self development books. I’m loving the app Blinkist right now (thank you @tashamonaghan71 for the recommedation). Super cheap and summarizes much of the greatest books in history. The screen capture is Eat That Frog by one of my favourites @thebriantracy. Pretty much the perfect book to start the day. I just downloaded “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie as it’s been a while since I last read it and the book keeps coming up in my coaching of other investors and coaches on my team. The lessons from this book have enabled me to attract mentors, be a better leader to clients and employees, build relationships with contractors and celebrities in our industry. Getting guests on this podcast to deliver you all the best information is no cake walk either as everyone’s time is precious. Many guests need some coaxing and cajoling as we have no budget to offer speaking fees LOL. Speaking of budgets and celebrities, if I were to hire a guest speaker, a real estate personality to come speak at my event, come on the podcast. Who would you want that to be? E.g. a panel member of Dragon’s Den, Brian Balmer, Mike Holmes, the Property Brothers, or someone unrelated to real estate. Please let me know! Reply to one of my emails or hit me on social media. I’m on Instagram and Facebook mostly. If you’d like to take a deeper dive, meet and see myself and other guests of this show live and in person then get on the invite list for the Halton REI networking meetings at Sheridan College in Oakville Ontario. Past and most talked about guest Jay Gabrani will be our keynote speaker sharing how real estate saved his life and the strategies he implemented to do so including option trading and private lending. To get on the invite list go to www.HaltonREI.ca, will out the form and you’ll receive our monthly invitations. Also, if you would like to receive our new episode notifications to your email inbox you can do so by going to TruthAboutRealEstateInvesting.ca and input your name and email. Simple as that! Full Time Investing, Starting a US fund, losing 100lbs, Renovating tips with Quentin D'Sousa Part 2 We are all over the map in attempting to catch up to what Quentin D’Sousa is up to in life and investing. Quentin shares on a bunch of topics including how and what he looks for when doing deals, tips on renovating from having done 50-70 major renos, his fitness and weight loss journey, he’s already lost 90 pounds this year with a 10km race coming up. Sitting down with Dayton Dragons outfielder Miles Gordon. Miles is from Oakville Ontario and was drafted by the Reds in the 4th round!
In this week’s episode I sit down with Matt Nethersole. Matt Nethersole is an actor, singer, and dancer originally from Oakville Ontario. In our conversation today we discuss what it was about theatre that spoke to him growing up, his path into the industry and the experiences he had while training at Sheridan college, as well as some of the things he learned from his first couple experiences in the industry. We also discuss some of his most positive experiences in theatre, the differences and similarities he noticed after working seasons at both the Shaw Festival and Stratford Festival, as well as where he sees theatre in Canada headed in the future.
