Send us Fan MailHello, passionate cruisers! This is Paul and this week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast; I am delighted to welcome Jason Gelineau. Jason is the answer to a The Joy of Cruising Podcast trivia question, as he is the dad of a previous guest, the lovely violinist and cruise ship performer and Grammy winner, Emily Gelineau, my guest for Ep 199 but I certainly don't mean to trivialize Jason's appearance. In my view, Jason transcends cruising similar to certain other guests I have hosted like travel and hospitality icons Scott Eddy Ep 29, and Sarah Dandashy Ep 130; or individuals who transcend the history of consumer cruising like Joe Farcus, the designer of Carnival's fleet from inception through 2011 Ep 30; Richard Fain, Chairman, Royal Caribbean Group Ep 215, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, former CEO, Celebrity Cruises Ep 81, and finally, featured through his daughter, the late Everett Philips, the father of modern cruise ship Food & Beverage Ep 57. Jason Gelineau is a highly regarded luxury cruise industry expert with more than 30 years of experience across shipboard operations, shoreside leadership, and global cruise brand development. Throughout his career, Jason has worked with some of the world's most prestigious cruise brands, including Silversea Cruises, Seabourn, Oceania Cruises, and the World of Residensea. He previously served as Head of Product for Explora Journeys, where he led the development of the onboard guest experience for MSC Group's luxury lifestyle cruise brand, shaping its hospitality concept, service philosophy, and experiential vision from inception to launch. Based in Western Australia, Jason is the founder of JAG Hospitality, a specialist cruise and hospitality consultancy, and currently serves as a Seatrade Cruise Ambassador for Guest Experience and Wellness. A frequent speaker and moderator at international cruise forums, he is widely recognized for his insight into luxury cruising, evolving guest expectations, and the future of high-end experiences at sea.Do you have a dream car? In the last few years, I've cruised on all five of the major Small Ship Luxury cruise lines — multiple times on each — and I discovered something most cruisers are never told. They may all be grouped together by the industry, but they deliver very different experiences. In this video I put the five head-to-head: Oceania Cruises, Viking Ocean Cruises, Explora Journeys, Windstar Cruises, and Azamara I reveal: ✔️ Where each one genuinely shines ✔️ The weaknesses most brochures don't highlight ✔️ What catches Premium cruisers out when they "upgrade" ✔️ How they compare to Ultra-Luxury lines ✔️ Who should — and absolutely should NOT — cruise on each Become a Tips For Travellers Patron: https://www.patreon.com/tipsfortravellers and get exclusive Patron-only content, downloads and livestreams Visit my Tips For Travellers YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/tipsfortravellers Offers: Get 10% any order of The Cruise Maps who you visit the site using this link: https://www.TheCruiseMaps.com/TFT • • Get up to 30% off collectible tokens of place you've visited using the link: https://www.TheWanderClub.com/TFT
Cruise loyalty programs can feel confusing — and many travelers wonder if it's really worth staying loyal to one cruise line just to earn perks. In this episode of RTE-Travel Talk, Ken sits down with cruise expert Lola Vassiliadis of Cruise Holidays of Oakville and Lawrence Park to break down how cruise loyalty programs actually work in the real world. Together they explore: • How loyalty programs work on Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas • When loyalty perks start to deliver real value • Why some cruisers stay loyal — and why others don't • How cruise line “family” relationships can let you carry status between brands • Practical advice for choosing the right cruise strategy for your travel style If you've ever wondered whether cruise points really matter — or whether they should influence your next cruise choice — this episode will help you decide.

I've sailed five times with Oceania Cruises across three different ship classes, most recently on a 19-night Sydney to Papeete voyage on Riviera. It's a cruise line I choose to return to and often recommend. But here's the truth. I regularly hear from viewers who board expecting something extraordinary… and leave wondering what all the hype was about. So in this video I'm being completely frank about five areas that are often misunderstood, where the expectations created by the marketing don't always match what people actually experience — and importantly where that really matters and where it doesn't.
Jason Montague, chief luxury officer of Regent Seven Seas and Oceania Cruises, talks with James Shillinglaw of Insider Travel Report at last week's Virtuoso Travel Week about his new role overseeing both a luxury cruise line and an upper premium line. Montague also tells us why he decided to return to Regent and Oceania (he had previously overseen Regent and helped to develop Oceania). He tells us how he views luxury and premium cruising today. For more information, visit www.rssc.com or www.oceaniacruises.com. Alaska cruise comparison , Regent Seven Seas, Oceania, and Celebrity go head-to-head—find out which offers the best value and experience! Confused about which premium or luxury cruise line gives you the most bang for your buck? In this eye-opening episode of RTE-Travel Talk, Ken is joined by travel expert Christy Fitzharris of Wheels Up Travel to take a deep dive into a real-world pricing and value comparison of Regent Seven Seas, Oceania Cruises, and Celebrity Cruises—all sailing to Alaska in July 2025. You might think Regent, the luxury option, is always the most expensive—but the results may surprise you. Christy walks us through her expert process in helping clients compare not just the sticker price, but the true cost after inclusions, add-ons, excursions, dining, spa access, and more are factored in. She also reveals an exclusive, unpublished fare for Regent that dramatically changes the equation. We'll look at: ✅ What each cruise line includes (and doesn't) ✅ Crew-to-guest and space ratios ✅ Cost per square foot of cabin ✅ Value of the "ship within a ship" concept on Celebrity Retreat ✅ Differences in onboard vibe and experience ✅ Kid-friendliness and dress code expectations ✅ The hidden perks of working with a travel advisor If you're debating a luxury or premium cruise, or considering upgrading from mainstream lines like Royal Caribbean or Princess, this episode is your essential guide. Get clarity, avoid decision fatigue, and learn how to make your cruise dollars go farther—whether you're booking solo or with family.
Oceania Cruises' Mark Godden discusses fine dining and luxury on its small ships.
Wir diskutieren darüber, was dahinterstecken könnte. Oceania Cruises is one of my all-time favourite cruise lines, and so I was incredibly excited to try their new class of ships. Until I did.
