Federal filings show three crew members charged on the Disney Dream in early 2024. A Royal Caribbean cabin attendant sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty to secretly recording passengers as young as two inside their cabins. An FBI affidavit describing a Celebrity youth counselor who allegedly targeted children for four months while avoiding security cameras. A 6-year-old was the one who put a stop to it. Two Princess employees sentenced to a combined 45 years for grooming a teenager and exchanging exploitation material depicting very young children. This is the episode that connects the cases the cruise industry has never been forced to address together: Disney, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, Carnival, Holland America. Year after year. Ship after ship. Same pattern: crew hired internationally through third-party agencies, screened only against home-country records, no shared offender database. Cruise Law News reports nearly 200 crew accused of possessing CSAM in roughly two years. Trying to decide between Crystal Cruises, Explora Journeys, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises? This expert luxury cruise comparison breaks down inclusions, ship style, and real cost-per-day value. Luxury cruising isn't about price — it's about choosing the experience that fits you. In this episode of RTE-Travel Talk, host Ken Lawrence sits down with Beth Schulberg and Lauren Matthews, the mother-daughter owners of Cruise & Travel Specialists, to compare three of the most talked-about luxury cruise lines at sea today: Crystal Cruises, Explora Journeys, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Together, we break down: What's really included on each luxury cruise line How the ships feel onboard — classic vs modern vs ultra-luxury Who each cruise line is best suited for Ship size, stateroom experience, and onboard atmosphere A real-world cost-per-day comparison based on similar Mediterranean itineraries Beth has sailed on all three cruise lines, while Lauren brings a modern luxury and sales perspective from working closely with today's high-end travelers. Their insights go beyond brochures and marketing — this is the kind of guidance you only get from travel advisors who actually go. If you're trying to decide between Crystal, Explora, or Regent — or simply want to understand how luxury cruising has evolved — this conversation will help you choose with confidence.

The Golden Crew is back, and this week Trevor is NOT dead — despite his best efforts to convince everyone otherwise. After a dramatic week of faking strep throat, sending blinking GIFs, and getting his wife Megan to photograph the inside of his throat for a very skeptical Teladoc doctor, Trevor has somehow survived to podcast another day.On the cruise news front, we've got a big week! The Carnival Sunshine went full blackout — losing power, propulsion, AND sanitation at 2 AM while returning to Norfolk. Tugboats, delayed embarkation, and a $25 onboard credit were involved. We break it all down. Then we talk about the Carnival Conquest's fresh glow-up out of dry dock, including the new Heroes Tribute Bar honoring our military veterans and active duty service members — and yes, the arcade came up too.We also touch on Puerto Vallarta's temporary removal from Carnival's Mexican Riviera routes (Jen is on the Costco update desk, so stay tuned to the Facebook group), and the 2026 Cruiseline.com Member Choice Awards — spoiler: Royal Caribbean swept basically everything and the crew has thoughts. And finally... waffle cones. We somehow end up in a deeply committed conversation about soft serve, cruise hacks, and things we probably should not describe in a family-friendly podcast description. You'll just have to listen.

TALK TO ME, TEXT ITA baffling disappearance pulls us back into the uneasy space between rumor and proof. We unpack why a ransom note felt off from the start, how a late-night livestream stirs theories about a staged scene, and what unexplained details like broken cameras and blood patterns actually suggest—and don't. Rather than rush to a neat ending, we sit with uncertainty, sort signal from noise, and ask the question that matters most: if it wasn't a kidnapping, where is she? From there, we pivot to travel news with real-world consequences. A well-loved Alaska cruise line calls it quits after 15 years, canceling sailings and promising refunds while its parent company keeps day tours alive. We talk seasonal economics, contingency planning, and why flexible bookings and quick communications are the difference between chaos and goodwill. If you've ever dreamed of glaciers, fjords, and Alaska Native culture, this segment helps you understand the market and plot your next move with confidence.Health takes center stage as reports surface of GLP-1 users courting an old-world problem: scurvy. Appetite-suppressing drugs like semaglutide can quietly shrink nutrient intake, and when vitamin C, protein, and fiber drop, so does resilience. We break down the physiology in plain language—resting metabolic rate, muscle mass, and sustainable routines—offering practical steps to protect nutrition while pursuing weight loss or diabetes control. Then we answer a timeless household debate: why women often feel colder than men. The science points to lower average metabolic rates and smaller body size, not thin skin or fussiness, and we share easy ways to balance comfort at home and in bed.Stick around to the end for our cozy wind-down—blankets, cooling sleep masks, and how to fine-tune your sleep setup so you drift off faster and stay comfortable through the night. If this mix of mystery, travel reality, and health smarts resonates, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review—what theory or takeaway stuck with you most?Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREE Thanks for listening! Chris Frame - Cruise History The History of celebrity cruises and look at how the line was developed out of the Chandris line It was formed in the early 20th century by John Chandris who was a Greek shipping magnet and his son's Dimitri and Anthony got involved in business. They expanded the line after World War II and it was involved in the assisted passage to Australia. They then developed a Cruise Line which focused on cheap cruises but later reorganised this into the celebrity cruises that we know today - focusing on Bermuda cruising - that was instrumental in the development of many modern day cruising traits. I recently lectured on board celebrity cruises for the first time as a guest speaker and presented a lecture about the history of celebrity cruises to a packed out audience on board and also am aware that celebrity is one of the brands that dedicates shipped to the Australian market every summer and is quite popular with repeat guestsSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

So, you want to go on a cruise. What could go wrong? After listening or watching today’s episode, you might think twice, for good reasons. When Jamie Barnett said goodbye to her daughter, Ashley, in 2005, who was going on a three-day cruise with her boyfriend and two other couples to Mexico, she never dreamt that it would be the last time she would see her daughter alive. What was supposed to be a birthday celebration resulted in the death of Ashley due to illegal activities on board the ship, gross negligence from the staff of the ship, and subpar medical attention aboard the cruise ship. My guest on the show today, Jamie Barnett, has turned grief and frustration from dealing with the cruise industry, government officials, and the FBI, into advocacy and hope. Jamie Barnett is the president of the International Cruise Victims (ICV) organization and became an advocate for cruise ship safety after her 24-year-old daughter, Ashley Barnett, died on a cruise in 2005 due to gross negligence by the cruise line. Her advocacy work was instrumental in the passage of the Cruise Vessel Safety and Security Act of 2010, and she continues to fight for stricter regulations of cruise vessels to ensure the safety of their passengers. Jamie appeared in the Netflix docuseries "Amy Bradley is Missing," further highlighting the dangers on cruise ships by drawing parallels between her daughter's death and the disappearance of Amy Bradley in 1998 As a dad and grandpa, this episode hit home. I can’t imagine what Jamie went through and continues to go through! Bravo to Jamie and others who are attempting to keep cruise lines accountable and safer. In today’s episode, we discuss: · Thank you, Vic Ferrari over at the NYPD Through The Looking Glass Podcast, for the intro. · The organization, International Cruise Victims, and her role, and how she became involved. · How the United States Congress has become involved in attempting to make the cruise line industry safer for its guests. · In 2005, her daughter, Ashley, was murdered aboard a Carnival cruise to Mexico. · Her daughter’s body was taken to Mexico for a subpar autopsy against her wishes. · The FBI not charging her boyfriend with any crime after he smuggled illegal narcotics aboard that Ashley ingested and caused her death. · Sub-par medical attention and gross negligence aboard the ship that contributed to Ashley’s death. · Jamie’s connection to the recent Netflix special, Amy Bradley is Missing. · Jamie’s frustration with the severe lack of cooperation, sympathy, and compassion from the FBI. · The cruise lines that have the worst crime rates. · What you can do to stay safe aboard a cruise ship. All of this and more on today’s episode of the Cops and Writers podcast. Please visit the International Cruise Victims Association to learn more about this important topic and donate. I've recently revisited and cruised on all five of what the industry calls “Premium” cruise lines, as I keep getting asked which is the best these days as so many cruisers are confused by all the recent changes in the fleets, new on-board offerings, tweaks to inclusions and exclusions, and the seeming push by all to attract a different passenger type. The Golden Crew is dreaming beyond Carnival! Join Trevor, Tom, and Jenn as they share which cruise lines are on their bucket lists (spoiler: Tom wants to try the Scientology ship for the "experience"). This week: Trevor's declining a bad book deal to self-publish his hockey romance "Second Shot," Tom's convinced he's been kicked out of the group chat (he hasn't), and we debate the merits of MSC's yacht club where you get your own butler named Jeeves. Plus, we discover Virgin's annual pass costs $120,000, Tom wants to bathe in champagne in a hot tub, and we explore Margaritaville's retirement communities where everyone goes "fins up!" We also thank our listeners for NOT getting us mentioned in John Heald's influencer post because we definitely don't want that responsibility. Fair warning: This episode contains dangerous levels of butler voice impressions and math that doesn't add up.
